Game 99 - Haley1 vs Madrak2

Spending way to much time on the forum, started posted like a tool again (Scratch any internet user for long enough and you'll find their regretful posts. And organs. Like the spleen.). Alas.

In any event, the lame dreamworld we at times must co-exist in with our faces in sweet punching range enforcing a better degree of decorum, there was some sweet dolly action.

Theoretically the final week of Cygnar, though it'd be nice to learn the Haley's enough to not play them like trash.

As the wise have pointed out, a trencher unit would be ideal. I've finally pulled out my painting stuff at least, so maybe that'll get done. I didn't actually do any painting, but one half arsed slothful step at a time.

In the meantime it's this:
Haley1 - Stormwall + Electric shafts, Sentinel, Squire, Arlen Strangeways + Sentinel, Jakes + Thunderhead,  Harlen Versh, Gun Mages
Objective: Bunker

Basically threw in Thunderhead to stop stealth jammers, got rid of Gallant because I kept dying before he was relevant. Put in two Sentinels, they'd be Marshalled if I had another one in the list.

I've really come around to Jackmarshalling the extra jacks at the moment (The great master of wayward sheep pointed out that Jackmarshal Gallant with 2 focus is better than Battlegroup Gallant with 3 focus). Naturally a part of the points arrangement was to lose a jackmarshal. Alas. Threw in Thunderhead because I now have the model and in theory he fixes my fear of stealth jam infantry on one flank while the Stormwall Covering Fires the other.

Into the greatest of heads with a Warlock that was the bane of universe a millennia/month ago.
Madrak2 - Mauler, Earthborn, Stones + UA, 3x Kriel warriors (All Max, 2 have the UA droobz), Warders (Max), a Solo I can't recall

Well, it's a good test of if I can maul max dudes I guess.

Scenario is Outflank, terrain is the 2d stuff I think is over rated given what's locally available.

Troll Deploy: El Maddo's boys win the roll, pick first. Dag nabbit. I have sod all pathfinder, so I give away the foresty side, which won't impede the trolls but would be annoying to me. They also get a hill for all that, though Troll defence isn't exactly putting the fear into me.
So this is proxy hell. From left to right:
Bare metal Kriel unit is actually Kriels. Don't get used to that.
Then there's some Ogrun Warmongers repping the Warders.
War Hog is the Earthborn.
A clump of Madrak, Solo I don't recall and stones that are the right models.
Wrastler is the Mauler.
Fennblades are the Kriels.
Lastly far right various Tentacle and legion beasts rep the Kriel unit without a UA.

Cygnar Deploy: Guess I'm the British in this Zulu scenario? Sounds about right, in terms of Troll rights the Swans are the evil dudes. We'll assume this is an outcome of that time the Trolls tried to legally tax Cygnaran Lumberjacks so got stomped.
My side has a sweet wall for Haley and essentially no other terrain.
Stormwall and Sentinels go left, Gun Mages centre (really they could go anywhere) Jakes with Thunderhead right (Jakes is that loser unpainted model).

Troll 1: The Horde advances! The left most unit of Kriels clumps up at the top of the left zone, then it's a brick of everything, with the non-UA Kriel unit on the far right splitting up a bit for forest hiding purposes.

Cygnar 1: Sadly nothing is in range, plan is to set up for the score and feat turn mauling I want to do next turn.

Stormwall and Haley Sentinel go left, Covering Fire goes down to slow up the Kriel unit that'll be out of temporal barrier range.
jack Marshal Sentinel and Gun Mages take the centre, Haley and Thunderhead go to the right zone, she goes behind the wall.
Stormwall gets Arcane Shield.

Troll 2: Everything runs forward, various Kriel Warriors go into both zones. The Covering Fire does its job. The Earthborn goes into the left zone, threatening the Stormwall.

Cygnar 2: Plan is to clear out the right zone and get the Dominate. Kill stuff.

Haley toes the right zone, the opposing list has approximately one gun, so camping one doesn't feel to awful and I put Deadeye on the Gun Mages. She Feats.
Thunderhead moves up and pulses, hurts a lot of the Kriel Warriors in the right zone but they pass many a tough roll sadly. He then does three more shots and blats a couple Kriels. I'd intended to Energize him back out of Madrak and the outer edge of Kriel Warrios threat, but over allocated so Jakes can't do it. Blergh. Awful way to utilise 20 points. Jakes does a couple shots.

Gun Mage move around, murder a load of Kriels on the top and right of the zone, but sadly get a spray of 7's to damage needing 8's when they get to the hill based Krield guys. alas.
Versh shoots ineffectually. If only there was a Blood Fury unit.

Centre wise, the Jackmarshal jack aims for the damage bonus and pops a couple Kriels. Arlan puts a focus on the Colossal.

Now that Thunderhead is going to die, I move the Stormwall across to the centre. I'll need him to throw Madrak to a killable spot if he comes forward, though that'll have to be later turns. Covering Fire and a pod in the left zone goes down. I do Big Gun shots, kills two of the Warders and puts another on one box. Glorious.

Cygnar goes to 2.

Had I not screwed up Energiser, this turn would have been amazing. As it is there is a Troll long game on the table, they can pop Thunderhead, Earthborn and Kriel unit on the left can clear that zone, with a run and a throw Madrak can go over and equal score (Can't clear the right zone with that Gun Mage and jacks at the bottom of the zone).
I can then maul stuff, but not that many models with Blood Fury need to get to my stuff to crunch it.

Troll 3 (No Pic): None of that long term thinking matters in the end, as Trolls decide to kill Haley.
There's a big chunk of Premeasuring (I screw up an intent at one point, but thankfully it was easily resolved).
The various Troll unit get out of the way.
Madrak moves up, throws his murder axe at Haley, I lose my focus camp to take 5 damage.
Stone pops its aura.
Earthborn runs across, Mauler does Rage, walks up and throws the Earthborn at Haley.
Dice +2 damage, needs an 8 to kill.
.....
.....
.....
.....
.....
Rolls a 7.
Glorious one box Haley again!

Cygnar 3: Awful pic, but not much to see really.
Haley stands up, Temporal Barriers, Deadeyes the Gun Mages for giggles. In case the throw fails she backs way up, though it'll be hard going.
thunderhead walks up, throws Madrak toward the centre of the board.
Jack Marshalled Sentinel and Jakes pop ineffectual shots in to him.
Stormwall gets to full focus after an Arlan empower, charges and manages to bin Madrak.

Huzzah! My attempts to get Haley killed finally didn't quite work!
Genuinely didn't expect the Throw at all. Good to see that.

Hammering the numbers in, the assassination panned out at being 43.43%. Had I camped two focus it would be 13.85%. I thought the Troll long game was better at the time, looking at it in Hindsight I'm not so sure, my feats gone but I'll still kill a decent amount of stuff, attrition for me feels good.

Now to see if I can get those Trenchers done before the Saturday tourney (Odds........poor....).
