Game 278 - Jaga Jaga1 (BC) vs Kromac2 (CotW)

Game 278 - Jaga Jaga1 (BC) vs Kromac2 (CotW)
Spread The Net

Random weekend pickup game for the the current local schrodingers faction player. Champs pairing, so I threw together a shoddy Jaga list to play either the Dracodile and conform to the ADR limits.
Basically a Gravewinded Dracodile sounds neat. I tried using free Bullsnappers to get some beasts going, as my struggle with Jaga is the infantry choices of WWfF versus the Beast amounts you get in BC.

Ah, Circle. You remain beyond my understanding, like people that no longer play the game but can't stop posting diarrhea about it on facebook.

I lose the roll and get given second. I stare at the table in uncertainty. I elect the side with a hill rather than the one with a blocking forest, completely failing to take into account that I have loads of pathfinder and didn't need to be concerned about the forest slowing me up at all. Woops.

Spread the Net, so scenario city.
I've got a large forest on my left impeding the journey to my flag, a defensive hill and a trench of no real value in my right rectangle zone (Circle list has very limited ranged potential).
Chunky forest in the centre of the board, so Totem Hunter likes it very much.
Circle have water on my left in their rectangle and a flag conveniently positioned on a hill. They have a forest near their deployment zone that doesn't come into it by dint of them moving past it super early on.

Totem Hunter had to Prey target something and I didn't like my options. To many individuals pieces and a list that's to quick for me to pick out something. I ended up going with Ghetorix, I'm genuinely not sure what the right choice would have been, they all get coutner played with ease. Oh well.

Circle 1: Charge of the Smoky Wolf on the Water (The classic rock song mashup I didn't realise I needed to fear, would sound awful).
Circle stuff stays shy of the walk and pew pew range of my Croak Raider unit. I pondered if this was overly cautious, but then again Circle Beasts do sometime evaporate.

Kromac stays central, Feral and Ghetorix lean toward the left (Non-pathfinder ebasts avoiding the side with the Dracodile on it), Pureblood and Stalker more to the right.

Minion 1: Hmm. Like all good players I plan out my game plan on my opening turn (Hint: This is a lie, do it earlier). Base plan is to hold back the Dracodile while Croaks snipe out the Black Clads early. Hyper Aggresive means I have to have a care on order of operations with them, so long as I have something available to mess up anything that advances forward it should be fine. The Bullsnappers are...not puissant in their abilities, so it'll have to be the Vault that goes for the offensive zone score.

No dramatic redeployments on my part.
The Sacral Vault and one of the Swamp Gobber Chefs mosey on toward the left.
Croaks run forward, a couple are in range of Hunters Mark charges. Unlikely to happen, if it does though I get corpses, souls and a Circle model to kill. Posse go behind them as melee reinforcements.

Dracodile moves up the right, obscuring the Totem Hunter who toes the zone to effectively threaten any contesting model.

Circle 2: Things mostly just shuffle around aside from the three Argus', who all run forward into contesting positions. One goes for the left flag and engages a Croak, another toes the centre zone behind the forest, the last touches my rectangle zone (aka bait for the Dracodile to come and get Warpwolfed to death).

Minion 2: Well, the mission is simple. Kill these three Argus, score three and play the keep Dracodile safe while waiting for the scenario game to go my way.

Left side, the Vault runs to the left to get over the flag, Gobber Chef goes to my flag.
The engaged Croak sacrifices himself to make room, a different Croak moves up and toes the Circle Rectangle. The rest try various shots, it turns out Signs and Portents needing 8's doesn't always cut it, they kill a stone and do a little damage to some of the Argii, however it wasn't the extent I expected. Awkward.

Left most Argus gets finished off by a pair of Posse, the one behind hte forest gets charged and killed by the Totem Hunter who moves up to contest the Circle Flag and prey Grave Wind gets him through to another day.
Right most Argus takes the Dracodile spray and is finished off by a Bullsnapper charging in.

Shamblers run around, the other Gobber Chef had ducked off to the far right for future Circle flag contesting shenanigans.

I score my flag, the centre zone and my rectangle, 3-0.

Circle 3: Ghetorix turns out to be just shy of an Overake assassination attempt on Jaga. Whoops. Bloody Circle.

Instead Kromac moves up to toe the centre zone, staying shy of Dracodile charge/trample distance, pops feat.
Ghetorix comes in on the right, cuts down a pair of Posse, some Croaks and some Shamblers. Overtakes get him to contest my flag.
Feral toes the Circle Rectangle, facing off against the Vault.

Remaining Stones and Gorax toe the back of the Circle stone.

Right side, Black Clad stays chilling on the Circle Flag.
Pureblood goes into the Totem Hunter and puts him down. Alas Gravewind.
Stalker kills the Bullsnapper that had previously eaten an Argus, it Sprints to toe the corner of my Rectangle just shy of the Dracodile threat range. Doh, should have had the Gargantuan over enough to threaten the whole zone.

Circle score their flag and Rectangle, score now 3-2.

Minion 3: Me get lazy and leave loads of time between playing and writing, thus forgetting both the details and even where I was up to? Nevar. The space Gerbil Genie told me so.

By gods man, kill Ghetorix. If not for the fleeting tactical advantage and to keep some semblance of a piece trade, then for all those times moops fucking murdered you in Mark 2.

Incidentally, Circle can get fucked.

Left wise, the Vault kills the Black Clad that survived the Croak's failure to be competent and toes the circle rectangle.
Being sick of therapy should be  warning sign right? That guy should get that looked at.
Swamp Gobber camps my flag and prays that someone deals with the big fuck off werewolf with an axe in front of him.
Posse charge Ghetto, do some stabs, one of them gets punched up a bit by a Retaliatory strike.
Bokor charges in, something I needed to do but wanted the Posse to absorb the counter hit. Bokor burns all bar one Shambler to kill Ghetto to the box. As planned. Never in doubt.

On the right, the Dracodile sprays the Stalker, who Hyper Aggresives forward a little, letting the Gobber Chef charge and take out his spirit.
It was the Best. One point. Solo. Aroouuuuund.

Bog Trog Trawler charges in and kills the other Black Clad who was scoring the Circle flag. These dudes are so great. Really should have clarified on Dark Guidance I meant these fellas and not Gremlin Swarms, but oh well. I suck on podcasts anyway.

I score my flag, now 4-2.

Circle 4: The Feral walks up and toes the Circle Rectangle and the centre zone. Inspiring.
Kromac charges up, kills a Posse and Lightning Reflexes back. What a tosser. The Pureblood had moved earlier to allow a pair of Primal Shocks on the Trawler to kill him.

Stalker glorious charge and make death on Dracodile fails by dint of no Spirit and Blind.

Tina Turner's hair looks like it could turn sentient and launch it's own singing career as a mad homeless person at any minute.

Both Flags are scored. 5-3.

Minions 4: On the one hand, Kromac has no camp and I could get a couple Posse to walk to him.
The other hand is dominant alas. It is an unfortunate character flaw that I will take the 99.9% slow miserable grind out win over a 99.8% assassination, not that the Kromac kill was anywhere near that close.

In any event, clock was good enough for me to just keep plugging away.

Left wise, the Posse, stab ineffectually at the Feral. The Vault runs further into the Circle Rectangle (That is to say Orobos' zone with four sides). Gobber chef stays chilling on his zone.

Jaga stays bravely holding the toeing-out-of-killbox fort behind the Swamp Gobber cloud.

Rightwise, Dracodile easily kills the Stalker. This sides Gobber Chef gets his chance to run up and contest the Circle flag.

I get my flag and rectangle, now 7-3.

Circle 5: Lukas Graham are tools.
Circle clock out, though a last flurry of activations see the Feral fall three boxes shy of killing the Vault and the Pureblood puts the Dracodile on half health after being Primalled and rolling shit for damage.

I cruise to an accidental scenario win.

Stuff. Jaga lists are hard to make doodz.
