Game 79 - Gorten1 vs Vlad2

Round 2 MOAB! Written much later, after frazzing my brain with AGM's, storytelling and drinking. Not enough drinking alas.

Erm...round 2, that's right.

The pair remains Gorten and Thexus. I bounced back a lot after round 1, now that we were closer to my normal operating hours (I think about 7am is my natural low point, time spent from the last iteration of such is up up up up up).

Scenario is the Pit, which with Gorten I'd run into nearly anyone.

It's my joyous Who's-The-Boss opponent from the last couple Wintercons, Bri-oods, who I hear gets talked at by Active Player from time to time (No way this reference will get dated!).

It's Sorscha1 and Vlad2. Pretty sure Sorscha just dies, though at the time that thought fell through the petty thimble of intelligence at my disposal. It's the logical choice.

Vlad2 - Behemoth, Marauder, Drakhun, Shocktroopers w/UA, Man-O-War Koldun, Rofle Corp w/3 Rocketeers, Joe, Saxon Orrick, Orin

Sadly I lost the roll. I hoped the ruskies wouldn't be wise to the situation and default into first, but it wasn't to be. Relevant points being that the terrain had one side with an irritating forest that would make fort Gorten have a truncated path to get into ideal positioning, while Vlad gets a wall to hide behind from my feat.

Other terrain is a hill in the zone and a pair of big buildings on the Khadoran side. Plus an irrelevant trench.

Merc 1: Stuff moves forward, Gorten starts the trek to the flag. Croc patrol breaks up much more than normal, Eliminators head to be in front of Gorten's Jacks as the Rifle Corp are on the left side of the Khadoran deployment.
Ninja Pig goes extreme right, set to threaten the Khador flag.
Crocs also Submerge for giggles, Strength of Granite is on one Driller and Gorten Solid Ground is up.

Khador 1: Saxon Orrick runs up behind the left building, Rofle Corp get tough and hand of fate, spread out on their flank.
Drakhun moves up and into the zone, jacks goes behind him in front of the wall, Vlad goes behind them and the wall.
Shocktroopers moves up with Desperate Pace and Shield Wall. The Koldun hangs out near them.
Vlad also through out his anti shooting Wind spell thing.

Merc 2: Spells upkept, ideal targets are the Rocketeers and the Drakhun. Those stupid pop guns will knock off my jacks and I've faced Vlad 2 feated Drakhun's enough (i.e. ever).
The Rifle Corp prove to be to far back for anything, sadness.
The Bunnies advance, Gunners go into the Drakhun and roll disappointingly. Curse the decision to give that chump a shield.
Both Eliminator units charge up, the Greenies get direct charges, do Combo strikes. They get the hits and side step forward manage the dismount. Red unit goes in, has a hard time, one of them needs to pop a Riflemans to sidestep and give Gang. Do half the Dismounts health.
The Drillers otherwise move to the bottom of the zone as does Snapjaw.
I was a bit unsure about what to do with Acosta, I could potentially have run him away to do the threat trick but went with jamming instead, running him into the Shocktrooper unit.
Ninja Pigs keep the sprint flank game going.

Khador 2: The Rifle Corp shuffle around, shoot the forward blaster down to one box of Movement and kills the Tinker. Damn you Hand of Fate!
Vlad moves to my side of the wall, shuffles Hand of Fate to the Shocktroopers, feats on most of them and the Drakhun.
The Drakhun and Marauder pawn one Eliminator from each unit, allowing Behemoth to shuffle across and kill Acosta. The Shocktroopers then charge up into my lines, take out Snapjaws Mind and severely Maul the Driller, sadly for the Empress bumpkins all six are go with about six boxes left.
The Koldun and Tinker contest the Khadoran flag, as one of the incidental Shocktroopers is also doing.
Saxon moves around the wheel from the Pigs as he goes up the left, Vlad also pops out his AoE thing again.

Merc 3: Saxon is prepped to contest my flag, but there sadly isn't much I can do about. Plan is to score both flags, Vlad is now in feat assassination possibility but the movements were too messy to ensure it.
Ragman advances, Deathfields. Aiyanna and Holt move to the right, Harm the Shocktroopers, Holt scratches one of them.
The Bunnies all advance into a wall, in the middle of it Gorten does his own shot, they kill the contesting Shocktrooper for the Khadoran flag and a bunch of the Rifle Corp.
Wrongeye Submerges,burns his Fury healing Snapjaw. I need Snappy to survive the impending attacks rather than make Hand of Fate render Star Crossed irrelevant.
The damaged Driller and Snapjaw kill three Vlad Feated Shocktroopers between them including the UA. Armour debuffs for the win. There was another Shockie I wanted to pop, but doing so involved advancing Snapjaw into Behemoth Assail murder range, so sod that.
The Eliminators go in and kill the Rocketeers.
Ninja Pigs pop smoke, Rorsh drops his Fury and hides behind the wall, Brine goes in and kills the Koldun and Tinker. I sadly lack a piece that can actually get to the flag to score, but things were still looking good.

Mercs go to 1 CP.

Khador 3: Attrition going the way it is, Vladites tries to pop my poor innocent Dwarf.
The Shocktroopers go first to maximise Hand of Fate, they easily kill the damaged Driller.
Orin for the sake of lols charges Brine, burns all his Power Tokens to no effect.
Vlad cycles Hand of Fate to Behemoth.
Behemoth advances, double shots Gorten. Both hit, burns his focus point camp and leaves him with eight boxes.
Rifle Corp go onto the hill, do a big CRA. They Hit. Need Box cars to kill.
The dice roll, come up as 6,6 and a 1.
I point out the habit induced Hand of Fate roll and sadly the dice get picked up again and do a solitary point.
After the photo Saxon runs up to contest my flag so I don't score on his turn.

Merc 4: If I'd score defensively this'd be a simple scenario win, but counter assassinate it is. Vlad is camping 4.
Spray Bunnies get out of the way, kill Rifle Corp.
Gorten charges a Rifle Corp, I feat for a puttsy two inches to the right table edge to put Vlad in Brine's charge range (another inch would have been walk range, but oh well).
Gunners advance up, first one does a single damage point and triggers Vlad's Armour buff. Dammit guys....
Second one does sod all.
One Eliminator walks in, combo strikes, has to Anatomical for a point then side step out of the way.
Rorsh advances, puts in gun shots rolling decently for damage.
Brine charges Vlad, Orin free strikes and does nothing. Brine Animus', kills Vlad with his initials.
