Game 271 to 4 - Minions at Exigence Event

Had the Exigence book release event, I rocked out the pigs, competing for the coin against Matty. The unique thing they did hear was a list of two Deceptions/Manipulations, completing a pre-chosen special circumstance in order to get a game benefit and points in the overall event scoring. I did a bunch of cards with the relevant text on them, they seemed to work okay. I finally also dropped off my ten minute made hills (I dislike the artsy hills the stores have, look nice but slightly evil to put models on).

Deceptions depend on your opponent doing something, Manipulations ping off things your models achieve.

Massive kudos to Hade-os, ran a good, fun event for Canberra in spite of drinking the night before.

One of the scoring things was to use three different casters, I was to lazy to bring both Farrow and Gators, reasoning Matty represents the amphibious side more than Bacon I went with Piggies for some extra variety.

My casters were Arkadius, Carver and Helga.

Game 1 against Edmon the Great, plonking Legion for the Hordes specific event. 25 pointer.

Rhyas, NInja chick of Everblight - Typhon, shredder,  Legionairres + Farilor, Pot with lunch ladies, Fyanna, Succubus, Beasty Shepherd

I plonked:

Arkadius (Mad Science Tier 1) - 3x War Hog, 5x Rabo's (Razor Boars). I have more beasts than Fury, this was not my finest moment.

Went first, opening turns we both run up and Farilor pops Iron Zeal (Ed was well trained by Black Dragons). Top of two, three RaBo's bounce of Legionarries, two run strategically. I feat to move everything up, I numptied hard and my War Hogs formed a conga line of killing each other, after that friendly fire the RaBo's still bounced off the Legionairres, but also killed Fyanna and the Beast Shepherd (I can only conclude that RaBo's are sexist about elves). One War Hog gets into Typhon, with lame results.

Ed has no trouble killing RaBo's and the errant War Hog and going to three, a Deceptionc ard lets me move my battlegroup a bit, in the next turn I fail to get my War Hogs to kill four Legionnairs (They both get to three) which would have triggered a Manipulation. Rhyas does a leisurely jog, stabbing a RaBo on the way and brutally decapitating it, before getting into the right zone and having  a lazy scenario win.

Damn did I screw that one around....

Next up was the Ganger of Pressiness and Cons himself, Hadeganger. We must all bow down to his determination, his zeal, his willingness to go where few have bothered to tread. He brought a list of such amazeballs it fed the Underpants Gnomes (The less you know about how that works the better). 35 Point Destruction.

eXerxis - Mammoth, 2x Siege Animantarax, One-of-these-models-is-not-like-the-others Willbreaker

There is something (Maybe not inspiring, but something) about Xerxis being the second smallest model in a list.

In reply:

Carver - 2x Road Hog, Gun Boar, 3x Slaughterhousers

I should have brought Midas, then we could try to recreate the fluff where Midas has Slaughterousers kill Animantaraxes. Oh well, Carver will just have to do.

The Pigs went first, here is our glorious opening runs and stuff. I took a pic because I thought SKorne gunnery was going to obliterate me. Turns out those guns suck and didn't do much. Top of two my Road Hogs walked up and set the Mammoth/Xerxis on fire and did some light damage, Slaughterhousers ran out spreading out, one got a charge into the Mammoth for a little bit.

I needed no strategy, because I passed about 2/3rd of my tough rolls. Skills! The Hadespin force of evil has left my dice (Traditionally I roll badly near Andrew, statistically that had to end sooner or alter)! Top of Three Carver feats, Slaughterhousers eat the Mammoth and damage the right Siege thing, Gun Boar finishes off said Siege thing then the Road Hog goes into Xerxis and kills him comfortably.

Andrew had a Deception so that a 5' AoE went over Xerxis to reduce my Mat/Rat to zero, as a Huge base the AoE wasn't big enough to get the Heavy as max melee range. Gold.

That weird oval with words on it is one of my hills, I had five minutes at the end of a work day so wrote random stuff on each one, a few people got a chuckle so that's a win.

Then came the Winions off, Matty plonked good old Rask in a 35 point Tier, I tried Helga for the first time.

Rask - Swamp Horror, 2x Bullsnapper, 2x Bokor + Shamblers, 2x Trogs (Min, ambushing), Totem Hunter, 3x Croaks

Helga - Roadhog, RaBo, 2x Slaughterhousers, 2x Brigands (Max), Bone Grinders (Min)

Rask went first, a combination of both sides Advance deploy and Advance Moves got the Croak Hunters into one of the Brigands units, where they killed one apiece and engaged. The Trogs were off the table, everything moved up. I cast Dash and Ward on a Brigand unit, all the Brigands ran past the Croaks and gave them the finger, the Slaughterhousers charge and killed them. My Manipulation involved having 20 Warrior models start in contesting range of the flag, hence this glorious blob:

Rask walked up and put down Inhospitable Ground, which he did every turn and was agony to deal with. Admonition went on the Swampy, which I forget about when it matters. Rask tries to shoot off Defenders Ward, rolls double ones, glorious strategy at work! Five or so Brigands die to the Swamp Horror.

Combo Road Hog/Brigands kill most of one Shambler unit and a Bokor, because Matty forgot to feat, which he does everytime he plays me with Rask for some reason. I'm okay with this. Slaughterhousers amble up the back, one unit goes for the Swamp Horror before it giggles and Admo's away (The spells in my fricken blog title, how did I forget it existed?). RaBo ponders the philosophies of Sanus and the nature of the Soul, then riles for a bit and walks around. Helga hits the Swamp Horror with a Muzzle, which we determine is a hilarious spell.

Trogs go onto the board, Rask feats and shoots off Defenders Ward. Or would of, but I pop a Deception that causes the attack to be ignored. Swampy kills some Brigands. Shamblers and Bokor kill Brigands and half of one Slaughterhouser unit. Trogs charge in, mainly engaging Brigands who are starting to look sparse in amount, though they ride single file to hide their numbers.

The Brigands kill what Shamblers they can, one runs up to where Rask and the Bullsnappers are cowering behind a wall. Last few Slaughterhousers on the right kill the remaining Bokor. Left Slaughterhousers move toward the enemy flag. Road Hog charges the suicide Brigands, flamethrower hits Rask and Cranks a damage roll.

Rask again does his damnable inhospitable ground stuff, Bullsnappers and Totem kill the Road Hog, Brigands and the right Slaughterhosuer unit are finally decimated by the Gator army.

Helga move up, Cyclones to get to the enemy flag, does a pot shot on Rask that kills him. In hindsight I accidentally cheated here, because I charged for distance before the Cyclone and a shot, but didn't realise it at the time because I intended an attack spell at my final spot before I checked the card and realized she had a POW 13 handcannon. Doh!

And things were about to go.....poorly....

Last game, a 25 pointer against Marty rocking the Legioness of Everblightor.

eThags - Carnivean, Scythean, Raek, 2x Deathstalker

Learning from my first game....

Arkadius - 3x War Hog, 4x RaBo, Targ (Beasts = Fury, not overloading on turn 1! Woo!)

Marty went first Scythean and Raek went to the left zone, Carnivean went to the right, Thags in the back behind them. Deathstalkers run down each flank. There's a forest between the zones, it is quite problematic for me...

A Rabo runs toward each Deathstalker, the other two go behind the forest, the War Hogs and Arkadius all spread out on the hill on my side.

Top of two, the Deathstalkers run into my deployment behind my stuff. The Carnivean toes the right zone, the Raek and Scythean move into the left zone, Thags stays behind somewhat. The Carni has Spiny Growth and Thags armour buff.

A Rabo runs near to each Deathstalker, the other two run to get charge lines on the Raek. Arkadius feats, the RaBo's do little to the Raek but kill the Deathstalkers, the War Hogs bound forward. Arkadius then walks up, I screw up the math so can't get a Crippling Grasp on the Carni. It takes two War Hogs, but they charge and kill the Carni, I go to two CP.

The Raek kills a RaBo, Thags feats, Manifests Destiny and kills the other RaBo on the Raek. The Scythean tries to charge the nearest War Hog on the other side of the forest, but falls short, then feat moves into the right zone. Legion go to 2 cp.

One War Hog frenzies and punches another War Hog in the face, taking out his Mind. RaBo's walk back to try to be relevant, Arkadius uses a Decpetion to cast Manifest Destiny. Arkadius charges the Scythean, uses Mind Control Serum to have him walk out of the zone and turn around, one of the top War Hogs walks in and with manifest Destiny easily kills it. The back War Hog runs into the left zone. Winions go to 4 CP.

Thags kill the War Hog in the left zone, the Raek leaps into the right zone and misses an attack on Arkadius, Legion goes to 4 CP.

I walk a RaBo into the left zone and win.

It was a good day, I enjoyed it a lot more than the other Book release event I went to, where I cared to much about getting the coin instead of just having a laugh and a bash.
