Game 269 Bart vs eDenny

Random public holiday game before standard Monday shenanigans drew me away.

Hit Rob's test version 2 of Body and Soul without an arcnode. Now that I can get another caster in my rotation, I've had a Bart list I've wanted to resurrect for a while, using a single Galleon.

Bart Monogamy vs Body and Soul is a match Rob and I have played twice before. The first time Rob pulled Bart in and killed him top of two no sweat. The second time was a Killbox, Bart stayed 5 inches from the board edge to be out of feat range. Rob charged up, just got Bart in the feat, I killboxed and lost scenario on top of three.

We've also played Bart Polygamy (Double Galleon). SR 2014 Incursion, I was stuck to far from the flags with my stuff, did a 40% on eDenny that failed, then lost on scenario top of four after Denny hid behind a house for a couple rounds.

eDenny - Deathjack, two Inflictors, 2x Necrosurgeon, 2x Warwitch Siren, 2x Overlords, Mechanithralls, 3x Drudges (Min), Ragman

Bart - Galleon, eAlexia, Kell, eEiryss, TAC, Kayazy Assassins + UA, Wrongeye + Snapjaw/Bullsnapper, Dougal



Cryx Deploy: Because Body and the Soul gives the +1 curbstop. The Bane cav represent the Inflictors. Pursuit goes on eEiryss, Marked for Death on the Kayazy, Curse of Shadows on the Galleon.



Merc deploy: The big decision point for me was what side got the Galleon, whether it would threaten the enemy flag and stop Denny Dominates or safeguard my own flag. Looking at it in hindsight I think I selected incorrectly, the Galleon can easily AoE from one flag to the other and Cryx are happy to throw disposable models to Control my flag.


Cryx 1: DJ puts Ghostly on the Drudges in the forest, then everything runs up.


Merc 1: Eiryss stabs off Curse of Shadows and Marked for death, killing an Assassin in the process. Everything runs up and spreads out, Hot Shot goes on the Galleon, Spinies and Battens go around. Bart moves out of Killbox, feats.



Cryx 2: Pursuit upkept. The infantry run in a wide arc around Barts control area, a Drudge and a Mechanithrall run to spots of doom. They get Knockdowned, then Hellfires from Denny and DJ kill most of the Kayazy unit of those brave Cryx minions. Bart also gets dragged forward, but doesn't get attacked. Denny feats and is Incorporeal.



Merc 2: Hot Shot upkept, no allocates. Dougal puts out Artillerist, mini feats. Galleon bombards out, kills Ragman, a Necrosurgeon and the right Warwitch. It was beaghtiful. Some random cryx infantry also die. Wrongeye puts Spiny on Galleon/Bart. Bart camps and waits for a world of hurt. Bullsnapper puts Spiny on Wrongeye. Eiryss twiddles her thumbs and ponders the joys of constant employment in a mercurial world, but then again she is a material girl (Eiryss does a Madonna montage. What I'm really saying is she doesn't get up to much). TAC spaz out, the front one goes for a .5% or so on Denny, but his flameburst is out of range, the other TAC cloud out of habit. Alexia hides behind the clouds. Assassins look around in a daze and wonder what thehell happened to their bros. Snapjaw casts Submerge, tramples in front of Bart on the way hitting the Underboss and somehow not killing him but trashing the gambling TAC on the way. Kell sniped a Drudge and got an Inflictor for a point via shield guard.

I think Snapjaw needed to trample for the intercept, particularly had Rob remembered to move his Inflictors up to threaten where Bart got Hellfired to. I should have used the Bullsnapper to put Spiny Growth on him though, then riled the Snapper for one to reduce Wrongeye cutting when Snapjaw gets dragged out of Reaving range. At the time, in spite of seeing it to done the turn before, I failed to click that Submerge didn't do squat to stop Hellmouth when expendable Cryx models are in large supply.


Cryx 3: Pursuit upkept. Warwitch Siren moves up, kills the two remaining Assassins, leaving the Underboss. Left Drudges charge the Objective, one strategically places himself for Denny, the Objective fails to prove the protective benefits of tinfoil and dies. Denny stays in cover, Hellfires Snapjaw forward via the suicide drudge. Deathjack walks forward, punches Snapjaw down to three boxes. Centre Drudges finish off Snapjaw. Anything left runs up, the left drudge unit sits with its Cephalyx on my flag.

Cryx go to 2 CP.


Merc 3: Upkept hotshot, Galleon gets two focus. Eiryss moves up, Pursuit moves the Deathjack not a real distance, she hits and Disrupts him. Dougal puts Artillerist on the Galleon. TAC move up, kill one Drudge in soul collection range and set the one in the right forest to knockdowned. Kell tries to stab the Drudge, fails to get through the manly Pec armour. Galleon moves up, gets three shots on the left side, one shot on the right. Left shots clear the Cephalyx on the flag and a couple Drudges in the process. Right shot hits a Stitchthrall next to Denegra, does eight point to her. Harpoon kills the knockdown Drudge. Bart casts Batten, strikes a pose behind the Galleon. Alexia pops two Thrall Warriors then stands in front of Bart. The Thralls charge Drudges, one misses, one kills. Spinies go out as usual.

I really wished I could Deadweight those Drudges and mess with the Jacks, but Bart just can't do it. I'll need to use Jaga to live the Deadweight dream.


Cryx 4: Denny goes Incorporeal. Denny heals herself, runs into the back left forest, with LoS to my flag but far enough that the Galleon won't be able to get a bead on her. One Inflictor engages Eiryss, Deathjack moves up and Venoms, hitting but not hurting Alexia and Bart. Pair of Drudges and an Overlord camp my flag. Mechanithralls charge the Galleon, do half a dozen points.

Cryx go to 3 CP.


Merc 4: Corrosion does a point to Alexia and expires on Bart, Hotshot upkept, Galleon gets two focus. Dougal puts Artillerist on the Galleon. Galleon spins on the spot, kills the models on my flag, some Overlords and the Necrosurgeon off a lucky scatter. Alexia moves across, the Drudge on her puts her on one box from the freestrike. She pops two Thralls, who charge to be in contest range of my flag and kill an Overlord. Bart stabs a Drudge. Eiryss lightly touches the Inflictor.


Cryx 4:  Overlord sprays the Thralls dead, Denny charges at the flag, Dominates to get to 5 CP.

Probably the best I've done against Body and Soul, the Galleon was godlike this game. I would have really benefited from Aiyanna and Holt to make Galleons attacks potentially magical, but against most lists I don't think I need them. If Bart goes into ADR with Gorten or MacBain! odds are high I'll take that to Wintercon.

Kell and Alexia were throw ins because I want to start getting used to Cavalry, so I dropped a nomad. I'm keen to try her again, though the exact list she's the right choice in evades me a little. Kell should possibly be a different two point solo, maybe Orin.
