Game 265/6 - Rask vs Rahn, Barny vs eKreuger

Riven Bonds League Season 1.

Let the weird hero funkiness begin!

I'm rockin Minions, so the loathsome Croak Hunter is my Hero. By "my Hero" I mean "The hero model I'm obligated to use to get the league shenanigans" rather than "A model I idolize/revere and wish to be more like/worship".

Barring new releases, Minion options (Excluding characters and models without attacks) for Heroes are the Croak Hunter, Efaarit Scouts when they are released, Thrullg and the Witch Doctor. I'm really looking forward to the Thrullg actually, hopefully he'll get the option to get stealth, which is what I think the regular model would be far more playable with.

Game 1, 50 point against Hoopsicle. With the evil that is Rahn.

Ret get the Mage Hunter Assassin. For reasons I don't comprehend, Narn is in the list again, even though Hoops has never not grumbled about him when putting him on the table.

I dropped Rask, let's get the good locks out of the way early in the league (You get a point each time you play a new warlock and I'm a munchkin).


Rask - Wrastler, Horror, Snapper, 3x Posse, Bokor + Shamblers, Swamp Gobbers, Croak Hunter (Hero)
Objective: Arcane Wonder

Scenario: Two Fronts

Ret Deploy: Damnable elves win the die roll, select first.

Minion Deploy: The wayward Bog Trog out the front is the stand in for the Croak Hunter.

Ret 1: Everything runs up, Narn and Mage Hunter in vaguely threatening positions.

Minion 1: Rask feats, puts Admonition on himself, walks forward. Everything else runs up as required, Spiny Growth on the Wrastler just in case.

Ret 2: Narn charges a Posse, puts him on two health. Mage Hunter misses him.

Minion 2: Croak Hunter charges the opposing hero, needs a six to hit misses. Sadness, that would have been one of the league goals. Rask puts up Inhospitable Ground after shooting Positive Charge off the left Mage unit. All the Posse Dirge and charge various things, killing Narn, the MHA, putting the enemy Objective on one hit point. Gobbers cloud, other stuff moves around.

Ret 3: Phoenix runs to a good spot. Rahn feats, Force Hammers Horror over Rask. Rask gets shot by everything else with a ranged attack, he loses his transfer, goes to one hit point and sac pawns a Trog.

Minion 3: Wrastler kills the Phoenix. Bone Posse charge to the left, middle one out of command runs oout of the way and dies to freestrikes. Purple Posse charge, opening attack puts zero camp Rahn on four health. They direct the rest of their attacks on Aiyanna, killing her to clear a spot for the Hero. Croak charges Rahn, if he hits this is a different league goal completed.

He misses.

Shamblers bunch around Rask, Bokor hides behind the centre table Obstruction. Grey Posse kill half the Sentinels.

Ret 4: Horror gets Force hammered into Rask. Rask then gets dragged 12 inches up the table by Battle Mages, getting into base contact with Rahn and using up his three transfers. He lives.

Minion 4: Rask stands up, shakes his head in confusion. Stabs Rahn in the knee.



Crammed in a 15 point game afterwards with Jarrodinor; eKrueger with Stalker, Blackclad and min Skinwalkers with UA vs Barny with Wrastler, Snapper and Max Posse. We both ran forward, feat traded, I got the scenario lead, the Posse and Skinwalkers mostly killed each other off. I then rolled like crap and failed to proc Warpath to get the Wrastler into the Stalker. Falling back, he got to four by sending the Stalker into the Objective, leaving just eKrueger in the enemy zone. I proced Warpath to get the Wrastler up, I could have won by just running the Wrastler into Kruegers zone, instead I decided to kill the enemy objective, have us both get to 5 CP and auto lose.


I'm filthy at myself about this game night, I let dice tilt affect me way to much and I didn't have fun. Thankfully I was more at peace after I finally got some good sleep at home, contemplating taking a few weeks off. I saw Battlefleet Gothic being played last Sunday Slam, which is a game I always loved the idea of. Then I saw the scatter dice being used on the Nova Cannon and my enthusiasm dropped out like a shitty dial up connection.
