Game 242/3 - C/B - MacBain! vs eMorvhana/3Nemo

Sunday Slam!

SR2015

Deathclock

MacBain - Galleon, 2x Pressgangers, TAC, ATGM + UA, Hawk, Bosun Grogspar, eEiryss, Anastasia
Objective: Effigy of Valor

Bit thrown together, I just wanted to use Grogspar for once. If possible Silly Wishnailer would be a good edition, but not much room available. In the original planned pairings for Masters Eiryss, Silly and Anastasia were elsewhere and this list had 5 points free.

Game 1
Recon

Evil Chibi strikes again...
eMorvhana - 2x Stalker, Gorax, Stones + UA, Stones, Druids + UA,Blood trackers + Nualla, Blackclad, Witch Doc Croc
Objective: Armory

Won the die roll, went first.

Merc 1: Everything runs up, a Thrall goes out to the right, Eiryss on the far left

Circle 1: Things moved up, half a dozen Pressgangers die to the Bloodtrackers.

Merc 2: Gangers shove in, get some Trackers. Gun Mages ping around but don't do to much. Galleon walks up, cracks the non-stealth stones. TAC cloud, Alexia pops a thrall that cracks the stealth stone unit.

Moved the Galleon to far up. Had it held back and gone for the left most non-stealth stone would probably have not had both heavies get into it next Circle turn.

Circle 2: Infantry pretty much wipe out the Pressgangers. Stalkers both get Primalled and make it into the Galleon, killing it happily.

Merc 3: TAC scratch one Stalker. Gun Mages move over, shoot down some infantry. Alexia charges past the Stalker, has to cop a free strike due to the angle, gets killed as the Risen haven't walked in yet. Eiryss puts the Blackclad on 1 hit point. Hawk charges a stalker, does a little bit. MacBain! charges in, kills one Stalker after more than a few misses.

Threw it away with the Alexia free strike. Risen should have been placed to block LoS, though the positioning might not have been feasible. Other option was the TAC try to kill the Objective to free up a charge lane, but they aren't likely to kill it.

Circle 3: Stalker frenzies on Macbain, does ten damage. Things shuffle around, Gorax pops the friendly objective to give Morvhana a charge lane, she goes into MacBain and kills him with ease.

Merc clock on the left, Circle on the right.

At least it got to turn 3....

 Player Grading
Time Management: 6, slightly ahead but should have had a greater margin.
Scenario Awareness: 5, scenario untenable here, no great plays thought of.
Spacing and Placement: 5, Galleon slightly to far forward, Alexia misplay.
Target Priority: 8, getting stones then the Heavies was the right play.
Effectiveness:6, average dice math for the most part.
Cool: 7, circle are fiendish.
Grade: C (37)

Game 2
Incursion (Three flags)

3Nemo + Finch - Stormclad, Thunderhead, Stormblades, Stormlancers (Min), Stormtower, Journeyman, Stormsmiths (x?)

Tier, so increased deployment and a stormpod starts on the table.

Merc 1: Lose the die roll, given first turn. Standard Failsale/Fortune on ATGM. Galleon stomps into the forest, Eiryss runs to the extreme left, a Thrall follows after.

Cygnar 1: Things advance, Failsafe goes on Thunderhead, the Journeyman moves up behind the Stormtower and puts Arcane Shield on the Stormblades. Stormclad puts down a pod. Nemo shoots down a couple Pressgangers through the Pod.

Simo forgot to put down Covering fire. With feat and Grogspar though I don't think they could have done more than inconvenienced me, the Positive charge effect on the Storm Blades already killing any ideas about charging up.

Merc 2: Upkeep failsafe, drop Fortune, Galleon gets two. Galleon walks forward, kills the Journeyman. Eiryss moves in, shoots Failsafe off and disrupts Thunderhead. MacBain feats on eight models (Grogspar, Alexia, Pressgangers), moves over to put Fortune back on the Gun Mages. Pressgangers run in and jam, scratch the DJ. Gun Mages fan out. Alexia moves up, pops a Thrall, who charges a Lancer and misses. Anastasia runs to the right board edge. TAC cloud in front of MacBain!

Cygnar 2: Lancers kill the Thrall on them, Nemo throws Fails Safe on the Stormclad. stormcald does some shots, puts down some Covering Fire. Storm blades do nothing. Left Stormsmith does a point to Eiryss.

Merc 3: Failsafe/Fortune upkept, two to Galleon. MacBain! puts Countermeasures on the Red Pressgangers. Blue Pressgangers bounce off Thunderhead, kill Stormsmith. Gun mages move up, try to thunderstrike the DJ, final two attacks push him out of combat and knock him down after killing a Pressganger. Eiryss moves up, pings DJ. The far left Thrall runs to engage DJ. Galleon moves to the right flag, shoots two Lancers dead. Anastasia runs back into the forest. MacBain! moves up a little, puts Countermeasures on the Red Pressgangers. TAC cloud up. Red Pressgangers move out of the Covering fire and kill a couple Storm dudes. Alexia creates a Thrall, who goes into the Storm blades, misses. Hawk runs to the left flag.

Mercs go to 2 CP.

There was a slight risk of Galleon falling short, but a Thrall was placed as a potential backup. The Gun Mages shooting was a waste of time, DJ engaged can't do the electro bounce of doom, so he should have just been surrounded and scratched at.

Cygnar 3: DJ walks to near Eiryss, freestrike from Thrall takes out Movement. Nemo feats, pops a shot into DJ, bounces into and kills Eiryss. Stormblades lash out at the Red Pressgangers, killing half of them and the Thrall. Grogspar gets hit for five. Stormtower and Lancer go into Galleon for a little damage. Stormclad moves up, Countermeasures stops shots/covering fire. Pod goes down, forces Grogspar to tough.

Should have kept Eiryss further to the left and kept her alive.

Merc 4: Fortune/Failsafe upkept. Thrall goes into DJ, smacks him up. Blue Pressgangers take out the stormpod and bounce off the DJ. Gun Mages move up, shoot down loads of Stormblades. Galleon kills the Lancer on him. TAC run to centre flag. Nothing else does anything of note.

Mercs go to 5 CP.

Mercs on the left, Cygnar on the right.
