Game 231 - B - Karchev vs eMakeda

No Clocks
Outflank

Karchev - Black Ivan, Malakov + Spriggan/Juggernaught, Tinker, Gorman, eEiryss, 2x Press Gangers, Hawk

eMakeda - Molik, Gladiator, Bronzeback, Krea, Shaman, Incindarii (Max), Tycom, Willbreaker, Beast Handlers (Max)

Khador deploy: I won the roll, went first.

Skorne deploy, weighted to one side (the left) far more than I expected, Press Gangers counter deployed.

I think this was the biggest point of the game, that left side weighting put me in a good position. At the beginning I reasoned this would be a Battle Group dependent game, I would clog with infantry and needed to kill trade up on heavies.

Khador 1: Standard Tow/Redline shenanigans.

Skorne 1: Molik does the standard yoyo, Incindarii kill some Pressgangers. Alexia held back to avoid these attacks, so limited souls gained.

Khador 2: I contemplate towing the Spriggan into the Bronzi, but decide Karchev would be to vulnerable, so Redline drops. Eiryss runs up to the far right corner of the board, forcing Southie to move his tokens out of the way. Hawk runs to the far left. Press gangers jam up, killing an Incindarii. Alexia saunters up a hill, pops the forward flunky to make a thrall who charges and misses the Bronzi. Karchev moves up casually, the Juggernaught moves in front of Alexia and the Spriggan moves to a blocking position. Black Ivan walks up and takes an unboosted shot at a Beast Handler, scattering onto Makeda and doing nothing. Gorman runs to the back edge of the right zone.

Error: I don't spot it until the Skorne turn, but I left one Press Ganger standing on the hill out of command by half an inch.

Skorne 2: Molik clears off the Bronzi and fatewalks, at the end of the turn he'll walk into the left zone. Incindarii and Tycom clear off a load of Press gangers. Makeda moves Lash to the Bronzi and uses that to move him up. Gladiator Rushes the Bronzi, kills the Pressganger jamming him. Shaman walks up and toughs one of the Lass'. Krea Paralytic Aura's. Bronzi walks up to the Lass, puts Beatback on himself, hits her with two initials to walk around to the Spriggan, maxes Fury to take out the left arm and Cortex. Beast Handlers walk up and remove Fury from things, one of them is half an inch from getting tot he right zone.

Khador goes to 1 CP, as Skorne couldn't get anything to the right zone. Gorman the scenario boss!

Khador 3: Redline drops. Jugger gets fully loaded, Ivan gets two, Tow upkept. Eiryss moves as far as possible to the Krea, shoots off Paralytic Aura. Karchev gets a Focus from Arkantrik, runs to move the Spriggand and Ivan away. Spriggan walks back a bit, Tinker heals two boxes to get the systems back online. Black Ivan walks up, double boosted shot kill the Willbreaker. Jugger attacks the Bronzi, puts it to 5 health. Press Gangers, what few remain, attempt some light stabbing, getting an Incindarii. Alexia charges the Bronzi, four man Risen CMA on Molik does no damage, Alexia then burns eight of them to do the requisite points on the Bronzi (Four Risen remain). I dominate the right zone.

Khador goes to 3 CP.

I forget to activate Gorman, but he wouldn't have done anything anyway.

Skorne 3: Shaman moves up and kills Alexia with a shot. Molik, Tycom Incidarii and Krea clear out the last Press Gangers and the Risen. Once Incidarii also shoots the Juggernaught for no damage. Beast handlers move around clearing Fury, one of them walks into the zone, another Enrages the Gladiator. Makeda moves up and Dominates the left zone, leashing the Gladiator around. Gladiator tries to charge Gorman to get into the right zone, but clips the Beast Handler and wouoldn't have made it. Skorne concedes, but we assume that the Gladiator would have made it to play it out.

Khador on 3 CP.
Skorne go to 2 CP.

In the after game chat, Southie pointed out that he could have Grand Slammed his own Beast Handler and followed up into the zone as a better play.

Khador 4: Gorman walks up and blinds the Gladiator. I forgot to allocate, so drop all spells and leave Focus on the casters. Tinkers runs over to the left, toeing the zone and a hill. Malakov walks to the edge of the forest he's been hiding in all game, shoots the contesting Beast Handler out of the right zone. Gladiator is just within 9 inches of Karchev, so he Arkantriks for Focus and charges, killing the Gladiator easily with Sunder.

Khador goes to 5 CP.
Skorne on 2 CP.

Had I remembered to allocate, Black Ivan would have run and Bulldozed the Paingiver out of the zone and the Gladiator for two, Karchev would have slingshot the Spriggan who would have bumped the Gladiator out for a no dice required win.
Had Karchev failed, Skorne are unlikely to clear the right sode and could jam with the Shaman and some Beast Handlers, kill the Tinker and go to 4 CP. in my turn I'd probably clear out my zone, but things get sketchy after that.
