71- 39 - 1
Game 1
50pt Rally Point (2x Aligned Circle zones and objectives)
Carver - 3x Warhogs, 3x Brigands (Max), Slaughterhousers, Targ
Syntherion - Prime Axiom, 2x Cipher, Monitor, Galvaniser?, Reductors, Optifex
Game Recount:
Convergence won the roll off, went first. I picked the side without the lake of aggravation on it.
Happy with my side selection, that Lake could have really mucked my Brigands up and forced them to not have tough, not that rolling 5+ is done by me on those rolls.
Convergence Turn 1: Everything runs up. Synergy goes up, Reconstruct goes on the Axiom.
Farrow turn 1: Brigands all Fearless and Tough, the two left units run up the rightmost one uses Dig In. Mobility/Batten goes up. Reductor having sprays reduced the usefulness of Dig In.
Convergence turn 2: Reductors and Vectors on the left kill masses of Brigands. Right Cipher lays down some rough terrain. Axiom manages to hook a warhog, drags it in, removes Mind/Body aspect but doesn't kill it.
Farrow turn 2: Brigands/Slaughterhousers got out of the way. Brigands moving sets off the coutnercharge on the servitor in front of the axiom, which explodes it getting some of the Brigands. Carver casts Mobility, heals damaged Hog for its two aspects casts Massacre on left Warhog, moves around and feats. Right Warhog moves up, casts Massacre on the damaged Warhog. Damaged Warhog charges objective, kills it, Massacre/Overtake moves to get to Syntherion, Free strike from Reductor takes out Body. Puts Syntherion on two health. Game called.
Full Credit to Rob for the attempted assassination plan.
The Rob Plan: Carver moves up and feats. Warhog charges sideways to kill the Objective, uses Massacre and Overtake moves to get to Syntherion and kill him. I misplayed as written here...
Tactical Error: Mucked up the execution plan. Two man Brigand unit should have either softened up the Objective or taken out the freestrike positioned Reductor.
Tactical Error: Carver could have cast Quagmire on the damaged Warhog, would have put Syntherion from being hit on 7's to his on 5's, which would have killed him. Instead cast Massacre on the left hog, massive waste of time.
My Original Plan: Carver heals dragged Hog for two, casts Mobility, moves up, Feats, casts Massacre on the rightmost Warhog. Brigands/Slaughterhousers move out of the way. Right Warhog charges the Servitor in front of the Axiom, kills it, sets off Overtake/Massacre to get to Axiom, Forces for strength, kills Axiom. Damaged Warhog then walks over to Syntherion and kills him.
Tactical Error: Brigands setting off Countercharge on the spawned Servitor destroyed my original plan.
My Original plan after thinking about it: Instead of Massacre, Carver casts Quagmire on the dragged Hog. Left Warhog moves in front of Carver, casts Massacre on the right most Warhog. Then the Brigands and such move and Right Warhog charges etc.
Retrospective Analysis: Could have done an order of actions to attempt both plans. My original plan has less risk and should be attempted first. Order of activations for models in Farrow turn Two:
- Brigands on the right Pray for Pathfinder, run. First one engages servitor to stop Countercharge, rest move up around zone, if possible one going to the other servitor on the right side of the Zone.
- Slaughterhousers move out of the way.
- Carver casts Mobility, heals the dragged Warhog for two, moves up, feats, casts Quagmire on the Dragged Warhog.
- Leftmost Warhog moves over, casts Massacre on the Rightmost Warhog.
- Rightmost Warhog charges Servitor, kills, forces for Strength, Massacre/Overtakes to the Axiom, does up to Seven Cleaver attacks (One from Massacre, One from Overtake, Two initials, up to three to Buy)
- If Axiom is dead, Dragged Warhog wonder over to Syntherion and kills him. If not dead, initiate the Rob Plan.
- Centre pair of Brigands activate, move up to kill Reductor.
- Dragged Warhog does the kill Objective to get to Syntherion plan.
Convergence turn 3: Not played out, Carver would have been killed by something.
Summary:7. Still not quite getting Carver. Brigands die extremely easily, and the Slaughterhousers never get to anything before game end. List bears thinking about, but definitely like Arkadius/Midas more even if they aren't as strong.
