Game 325 - Kraye (HM) vs Anamag1 (PT)
Epic Recon
Sunday it's a fun day face it Waluigi sucks.
List is all painted up, so suck it Proxies. Unless I want to run a list pair, about 25 ish models shy for my Haley3 (Uh....yeah....*my* Haley3 list, even though it may look, smell and piss like a copied one, I swear it isn't that).
Incidentally, Kraye's Horse looks super depressed. They even give it a little platform so it's angled to stare sullenly at the ground, thinking about the futility of life and explaining probability maths (2 50% does not equate to 75%. Fight me in a beer drinking way.).
Kraye list is triple Centurion, triple Charger, a Minuteman, Junior with a Sentinel, min mechanics, Lynus and Edrea.
Someone said clouds were a thing ok! I also totally thought initially it was going to be super relevant, then I realised I'd conflated Anamag with Kolgrimma, the other thing meant to be a hotness wrecking the world. Except it seems to be more Primal Terrors for dayz.
So yes, Lynus and Edrea should probably be something different, and yet I jsut kind've like teh idea of them.
The Kraye Hotness seems to be four Centurions, or a pair with four hammersmith/some other cheaper jack.
Anamag has the Blightbringer, then one each of Warspears/Warmongers/Chosen, then some solos and a double up of the max fun tentacle units. Curses.
I don't like the look of this, no damage fixes beyond boosting. Going into it the plan is to just drag out the game until I can pop Anamag, will need to have upkeeps out so that she pops hex Blast instead of Gallows.
I lose the die roll, Legion picks sides. I then end up with the side I want, so life is full of surprises.
There's a central forest, some hills and such around.Key point for me is I got a defensive wall int he right zone, so I can contest that zone and flag without being Gallows'd forward. (Gallows'd can't be right? Generic disparaging comment about my english teacher rather than accepting that the onus for a lack of improvement in such matters is on me).

Vygnar 1: When the Hellmouths go down, one pops into a trench in the right zone. There's a solid 30 seconds in which the other is vaguely set either behind or in the centre forest. As luck would have it, Anamags brain chucks it inside the forest, so I can try to pop it this turn. Focus gets allocated out to the Chargers and it's happy days.
So...three Chargers shoot an unbuffed Hellmouth. Odds of killing it? Turns out it's a mighty 42%. Sure enough I leave it on three boxes, so that's sodding terrifying. Arlan gives a focus to the Minuteman, who moves up and manages to finish it off. That was not an inspiring series of activations.
Sudden weird desire to mount Kraye on a Frightmare.
Two of the Centurions/Chargers lean toward the left side as do the Mechanic unit, thinking being that I'll run a suicide mechanic to contest the opposing flag when we get to taht stage of the game.
The more central of these Centurions gets Admonition.
Rightwise the Centurion gets Arcane Shield, thinking back that he is likely to be behind the wall and engaging Tentacles, so will be a harder prospect to Hex Blast. Lynus and Edrea run to here, as the Gremlin Swarm is on this side as well.
The Centurions all popped Polarity Field and used walk + Reposition as a pseudo run. Normally I'd trample up to claim board space, the focus allcoation to kill the Hellmouth stopped that.

Legion 1: Warspears/Warmongers run up the left. Warspears forgot to pick a Prey, so I have a 100% success rate on that.
Blightbringer runs to the right of the Legion objsective, Chosen hover out i front of it. They recieve the armour buff upkeep. The surviving Hellmouth sends foraging Tentacles out.

Xygnar 2: The Legion beef is on the way, alas'tis tainted. Almost hainted you could say.
Start sandpapering time I guess.
On the left, two of the Chargers shoot up the War Spears, killing three and toughing out another. They then repo back, the left most Centurion waffles up onto the hill and pops Polarity Field.
Rightwise, the remaining Charger toughs out the War Chieftain, intent being to remove Solos that could score my flag. Second shot tries to clear out a blocking Tentacle and fails to do so.
The Sentinel and Minuteman that kill said Tentacle and bounce off the front Chosen before Repositiong back.
Remaining Centurions try to kill the front Chosen before repositioning back with Polarity field. The first toughs the mutant cav out before hiding behind the wall with Arcane Shield, the other charges in, killing a Tentacle, hits the knocked down Chosen. Does a single damage and watches the Chosen actually gain health from the attempted murder. Disheartened, the heavy moves back with Admonition up.
The Chosen surviving was.....embarrasing at best? Reasonable success at messing up the Warspears at least.
Legion 2: Missed the pics. Doh. Turns out the Water Inspector didn't show up to our workplace because they went to the wrong site 4 hours away. Good work Government. Solid.
Anamag moves up, feats, puts the Strength buff spell on the Chosen. A boosted hex Blast lands on the righmost Centurion and strips Arcane Shield. Blightbringer throws out a shot to get teh strength buff up the board.
The Chosen move forward and kill the no longer Arcane protected Centurion, was not good. One of them also went to the central Centurion, I opted to not trigger Admonition until I could see where the War Mongers were going.
Alas, the first War Monger ran up to block teh Centurion from moving up into easy threat range of Anamag. He ends up Admonitioning backwards to not engage things to allow some Cygnar shots. War Mongers also move to block Line of Sight to Anamag anyway, a pair of them toe the left zone.
Left wise, the War Spears move up and stab the left most Centurion for some scratch damage.
Ammok runs to the Legion flag, the Gremlin swarm goes to my iteration.
Legion score the right zone and both flags, now 0-3.

Ygnar 3: It's simple enough, we kill the Batman. With Manbat!
That point differential is awkward at best, I have to keep the delaying game. It's clear that the right zone is Legion turf and that isn't going to change, I have to seize the board space around the left zone and pop all the Legion solos to prevent even the possibility of them scoring the flags, given Anamag isn't in a position to get their in the next turn. I deeply regret lacking an extra solo to run up the left flank for offensive scoring.
Leftwise, the pair of Chargers kill Ammok and a War Monger. The left most Centurion kills off the remaining War Spears and repositions up to contest the Legion flag with Polarity field up.
Sentinel shots and the centre Centurion kill another pair of War Mongers and one of the Chosen, the heavy then repos to toe the left zone. The Sentinel also had to back up to stop giving an engagement bonus, the Chosen did 12 damage that cored out the centre columns without taking out a system. As planned.
Minuteman jumps in to contest the right zone, he will be sorely missed. Arlen also charges in to be an annoyance. Edrea kills the Gremlin Swarm, Lynus exists. The Charger on this side kills off the Warmonger Chief and a tentacle.
I score the left zone, I'm safe from a scenario loss for another turn though it's still looking sketchy. Also attacks are definitely going to land on Kraye, who did gun shots and repositioned across, planning to eventually run to the Legion flag. 1-3.

Legion 3: Blightbringer shoots the obejctive, well and truly takes over the right zone.
The two War Mongers and whatever the UA is called pop their mini-feat, one gets up into the left zone. They kill Arlan and the Objective with minimal difficulty.
Of the Chosen, one gets a single attack charge on Kraye, another goes for the Minuteman and the third goes into Lynus and Edrea. Kraye takes 10 damage, the Minuteman loses half his health and both Lynus and Edrea die.The spawned tentacle tries to finish the Minuteman off and fail.
The last War Monger can't run to either flag, so goes up behind the wall.
The surprising survival of the light warjack means that Legion don't score and we stay 1-3.

Wygnar 4: With feat and Full Throttle a Centurion can get to Anamag. Glorious chance to salvage the situation!
Kraye Shuffles forward, pops feat and Full Throttle. Two of the Chargers unload on Anamag, stripping a transfer.
Sentry leaves the Warmonger UA's melee range to clear the way, dies to the freestrike. Third Charger pops him to stop him free striking the Centurion. Forward most Centurion kills the War Monger engaging the assassination bot.
Pathway now clear, the Centurion charges Anamag, finishes her off with his initials.
Hmmm.Won that one, think if we replay any amount of times afterwards I'm unlikely to do so again, 'tis a problematic matchup even with a scenario that ostensibly works out for my list. Chargers were consistently above average in performance most of the game, more tough rolls or averaging out of damage on their shots and it's strife land. Minuteman was a hero, killing that free Hellmouth and contesting away. Badly misplaced Kraye, probably needed the central Centurion to hang out on the right, didn't over spread the list as badly however struggle to find the cav man a safe spot to sit.
