Game 166: Cyphon1 vs Scaverous1

Drudges descend!
Cyphon1 - 3x Wrecker, Warden, Subduer, 2x Agitator, 3x Mind Bender (Max), Dominator with Alexia1 and gumbies (nombies that attack with their gums, hence POW 7), Overlords (Free)
Objective: Bunker

The Warden just wasn't cutting it, which left me with a bit of head scratching infantry wise. Going down a heavy felt like it weakened an average feat as it was, so I stuck it at four and max up the interesting Drudge unit. Slavers are alright, but ultimately the extra point of POW and CMA didn't ever feel that great and Prep for Surgery is irritatingly situational at the moment. Plus Adrenal movement to get sprays up the board amuses me.

Alas, my curiousity filled arrangement of a Rahn matchup (Just how badly do I get mauled?) is undercut by Real World stuff, so Sugarty takes the match. It still has TK I guess....

Skaverous1 - Barathrum, 2x Deathrippers, Croes Cutthroats (Max), Statistics Raiders + UA,2x Overlords, Withershadow Combine, Bane Warriors

What the?! TRAITOROUS OVERLORDS! GET BACK HERE AND LORD WHERE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO! I DON'T CARE THAT YOU WERE THERE FIRST!

It's two fronts, I lose the roll and get given second.
The side I take has, most importantly, a central forest I can try to hide behind. Wait, Cryxnodes. Well, damn. Still worth it. I also have a Rubble/Cloud wedded couple to the left and a hill on the right.
Cryx gets...terrain that I don't think comes up really at all? Essentially an obstruction on the right.

Cryx1: Croes out front, Satyxis to the left, Barathrum to the right. Overlords either flank. Scavvy starts heading towards his flag.

Merc 1: Cyphon is repped by Scrapjack, the white undercoated Slaver unit is subbing in for the third Mind Bender lot.

I fear TK death. Immensely. I use the Overlords and an Agitator to fuel up the Monstrosities for running, they do some slight winging damage but nothing awful.
Cyphon puts Perseverance on himself and moves up, gets surrounded by Monstrosities. They then get surrounded by Risen and I feel regret at my plays already.

A Drudge unit runs up and spread out either flank, one hangs back.

The slightly protective cloud on the left hangs around.

In terms of the error I've already made, I didn't think about my anti-TK ness that well. Risen should have been around Cyphon as well, as the opposing list has non-magic guns that can easily cap the blocking Risen (The opposing Overlord Sprays don't matter to much this turn due to rank, even with TK). Need to apply more thought to how this should be done, assuming I do more Cyphon stuff.

Cryx 2: Sure enough, Croes aim, kill a bunch of Risen and Repo back. Even with the low amount of rolls I made, tough Risen always feel a lot better than without.
The Satyxis charge in on the left, blat another four Drudges of their own that get fed to Scaverous by dint of whatever that upkeep spell is called (Sweet spell though, I like it conceptually).
The Overlords futz around either flank.
Scaverous moves into the trench on the left, Gorman clouds in front of him.
Barathrum moves up on the right and digs in.

Merc 2: Start murdering!

Drudges move up either side, back unit holds back aside from a couple Grunts that move up on the left. Sprays and magic explosions happen for days, I lose half a dozen Drudges to my own RFP's for most of the Croes and a shade over half of the Satyxis. Worth it.

Those attacks have cleared up the rest of the plan, Risen and two of the Wreckers move to the left, creating another pocket for Cyphon to hide behind as he feats and camps a few focus with perseverance up.

Feat grants enough movement for the Subduer to go into the forest, Barathrum has Counter Charge, for once it's to mu advantage. If he charges in the Subduer will likely gain a focus and saves the 50% drag attempt. The charge doesn't happen, so instead I land the gun shot and drag the bathrobot in. The Wrecker walks in and finishes him off. Had the drag failed I still had a charge lane up, the drag/countercharge ensures it's not MAT 5 which is usually bad.

Well, the Mind Benders worked well. Cyphon would have been better off moving back and to the right, further away from Scaverous the better. Oh well.

Cryx 3: The Overlords and Croes kill the Risen chocking in the Wreckers.

Scaverous moves to the Cryx flag, starts slinging some spells. Holds feat. Feast of Worms goes on the non-Cyphon feated Wreckers, TK turns them around.

Between Bane Warriors and Satyxis, both Wreckers easily get toasted, the feated Subduer/Wrecker also take a couple hits.

Cryx go to 1 CP.

Merc 3: Well, the Banes seem fine. Dark Shroud value yo.

Grind it out! Sprays for days!

The Various Bender units all move to spots and Spray, the Satyxis, Croes, four Banes, Gorman and two of the left unit of Overlords all day. Missed all the attacks on the right unit of Cephalyx, ultimately some excellent work anyway and 8's missing on two dice is perfectly normal.

Cyphon moves to the left, Sprays Scaverous, boosts to hit and lands it. He's now Silenced. Gold.
Risen then flood in front of him, a few try to finish off the Banes and fail. Alas.

The Wrecker punches out the rest of the Banes, the Subduer limps his way through the forest.

I cede point to Cryx as they go to 2. Oh well.

Cryx 4: My attrition lead is quite firm right now, so Scavvy has to go for an assassination.
The Withershadow move up, TK's Cyphon into the Feast of Worms template.
It takes the left arcnode, but a path through the Risen manages to get cored out.
Scaverous then charges Cyphons back, burns his full stack and gets some damage through, but pans out on zero with 10 or so boxes remaining.

Didn't play out the next turn, rolled out Alexia charging, gets it done with eight Risen boosts/buys.

Stuck in ambivalence. Benders great, but ultimately played into a caster with TK and not other movement shenanigans has left me with the awful realisation that even if Cyphon survives, I probably lose stupidly hard on attrition into the hard movement control Gorten doesn't really want to deal with. Anticipating trying a game into Rahn then burying this schlock deep beneath Kingmaker.
