Game 389 - Durgen vs pButcher

The better half was managing the efforts of some murder hobos eviscerating battle toads, so War Dollies happened.

Alas, something about the lighting at Jolt continues to befuddle my record keeping efforts, photos are cleaned up as much as I can but the potato quality shines through.

I brought Durgen once more, modified more to try to stop putting pAlexia in every list (For that is not how list pairings work...)

Durgen - 2x Gunner, Blaster, 2x Press Gangers, Hawk, Gun Mages + UA, Rockbottom, Reinholdt, Dougal, Ragman, Aiyanna + Holt, eAlexia, Rorsh + Brine
Objective Effigy of Valor

Edalonzo brought back an old favourite, combined with the latest in Butcher crazes.

pButcher (Claws of Buggery Tier 4) - 2x Kodiak, Ruin, 2x Black Dragons IFP (Max), Regular IFP + UA (Min), War Doge, 2x IFP Kovnik
Objective: Arcane Wonder

Rolled out on Destruction, because it was on the table. I was a bit uncertain going in, with Destruction on the table I'd normally drop Gorten and scenario it, but Durgen needs to recieve the practice more.

I decided assassination was the best chance, I'd need to keep Rorsh/Brine/Eiryss alive and in threat range of the killbox, utilising Brine to Knockdown and Eiryss to focus strip then pew pew. I expected scenario would be gummed up and attrition looked to favour the armour skewed infantry.

Khador Deploy: The Reds got a 7 the die roll and picked first. BD IFP split to either flank, regular IFP added tot he right. Butcher and Jacks in the middle, left most is Ruin.

Merc Deploy: I picked this side for Durgen to hide behind that wall, the side terrain wasn't going to do much. Gun Mages went on the right flank, I was think that the Regular IFP would be the softest target they might get to kill.

Khador 1: Advance Moves and Shield March gets the IFP waaaaay up the board and they form into their standard triangles.
Iron Flesh goes on the left unit. Jacks follow up behind the front Triangles.

Merc 1: I think for a couple minutes here. I can hold my feat, but next turn I'll be chocking on Iron Zealed Shield Walled IFP and will get horribly mauled. I decide to feat, to chip away early and with the thought that the assassination tools I have don't need boosted to hit rolls and I'm not killing Butcher with Blast damage anyway.

Dougal Artillerists Durgen, mini feats. Reinholdt reloads.
Durgen feats, advances, puts Primed on the left Press Ganger unit, Explosivo's Eiryss, throws out Inhospitable Ground and does shots. The opening Carpet bomb hits, then the next to AoE's both scatter backwards even with the Artillerist re-roll. Le sigh.
Eiryss snipes a left Pikey to drop Iron Flesh, Alexia moves up a bit and feeds off the Gun Mages killing a triangle that was across from them.
Primed Communists go into the zone, Smurs hang back. Jacks, Rorsh, Brine and Ragman sit at the bottom of the linear and have a fierce discussion on the ramifications of Farrow causing Cancer.

Khador 2: Ruin tramples into the zone, killing a Pirate and an IFP, then buys an attack to dispel Primed.
Oh yeah, that is a thing he does.
BD IFP pop Iron Zeal and move in, left lot Shield walls forward and kills some Communists. Right unit charges, getting two in Alexia who promptly miss.
Butcher Iron Fleshes himself and hides behind a pair of Kodiaks.

Merc 2: This is it, time to live the assassination dream.
It's going to be beautiful. Brine will slam a Kodiak over Butcher, Eiryss will ping him to drop the focus, Durgs and Gunners will cap, we can then go to the Winchester and have a beer.
There's a flaw in the plan, we'll get to that.
Gunners get a focus, Durgen gets the Artillerist/Reload shenanigan.
Ragman gets out of the way of the Ninja smoke.
Commies, those that are left, do some stabs. Lass seduces a blocking IFP, who goes over and knocks down the right Kodiak.
Smurfs go in, they don[t clear off Alexia but kill the Commie Lass who is now blocking the way.
Rorsh explodes Brine forward, slam happens. Kodiak gets knocked back two inches over Butcher. Slinky.
At this point I find out that Ternion clouds follow the model, but Kodiak gas does not.
Foiled. Inigo, save me!
Brine, now very much the personification of being trapped in the middle of the Briar patch, buys an attack on Ruin and dings him a bit.
Eiryss moves up and disrupts the further away Kodiak, is in 5 inches of Ruin and the other Kodiak.
Gun Mages kill the right Kovnik.
Alexia spawns Thralls, who kill an IFP and engages a triangle to the right of the enemy objective.
Gunners/Holt ping some models, Aiyanna cruises in the back.

I forgot to activate Hawk.
Urk, that's a brutal planning failure. My opening turns have now both being quite long, I have to hope that Khador have an ineffective turn and I can threaten Atrrition well enough to force the issue.
Inhospitable Ground does slow up the IFP and Butcher, none of his jacks can be allocated to and the Kodiaks are knocked down, so in terms of ad hoc recovery it is better than I expected.

Khador 3: The left Kodiak stands up and walks into the zone.
Butcher feats, because there is no reason not to, charges Brine and dusts him, then Iron Fleshes and Camps 3.
Brine's Pigheaded attack activates, he crit knock down's Ruin.
The other Kodiak forms a wall in front of Butcher.
A few more Press Gangers die to Pikes, the not-Black Dragon unit mini-feats to get a triangle into the zone engaging Eiryss.
The left unit, then the Kovnik, go in and kill my Objective.

Khador go to 1 CP.

Merc 3/Khador 4/Merc 4: Pic is end of game state, as I was under a time crunch and the turns blurred. Combination of Harm and Dar Shroud means Ruin gets killed (A Durgen armour Pierce shot did a nice 16 damage, was glorious). Solo's, jacks, Gun Mages and spawned Thralls meant I killed most of the IFP, there were about four left at the end of the game.
Butcher ended up toeing the zone Iron Fleshed, Eiryss was forced to stop me allocating to my own Jacks. I managed to pop the other Kodiak as well, I was in the middle of spawning Thralls to engage Butcher and the War Dog and keep the zone safe when I clocked out.

Edtor had a bit over 10 minutes on his clock to my zero.
It was only while writing this I realised Hawk isn't in the list, so that was bad.
Otherwise really enjoying the list, need to practice it in clock terms.
I think my initial plan was off, I should have put the gun mages centre and spread out the Jacks, reducing the Eiryss skornergy and using Thunderbolt to threaten scenario. I also don't need the Bunny fort, the rough terrain and wall stops the important threats to Durgen.
Obviously need to be more careful about opposing models, Kodiak clouds is something I should know about (Those Khador games are getting further and further into the past....)
