Game 361 - Rnd 3 Chappie Slam eCaine vs Damiano

Round 3 of Chapman tourney, into Tomodar with Mercs.

I didn't realise at the time that Tomonon hadn't played much scenario, definitely should have been more aware and more helpful, but such is my genius I didn't click till after I was up a bit on the scenario.

Anyway, opposing lists were pMagnus and Damiano with a couple non-Colossal Jacks and an infantry load. Couldn't make up our minds, so we both randomly rolled and ended up with eCaine (EVEN THE DICE WANT IT) vs Damiano on Outflank.

Damiano - Rocinante, Gun Mages + Dude + Mule, Savio Acosta, pAlexia, Steelhead Halbs (Min), Silly Wishnailer, Aiyanna + Holt, Piper, Steelhead Cav


Cygnar Deploy: Won the roll, picked first to try to force up the board. Damiano likes to spend focus, so threatening an assassination seemed liked a not terrible plan. I didn't see to much armour cracking, so the Centurion was set to get Arcane Shield and contest the right zone. Rangers ended up on the right in the AD phase to be away from the Gun Mages who would plink them away.


Merc Deploy: That's Acosta way up the front. Cav go the right, Gun Mages with Mule the left.


Cygnar 1: Everything moves up, Blur on the TAC, Reflexes on the Boomies, Arcane Shield on the Centurion. Nothing moved up as far as it could, intending to not give models away to the long threat range pieces on the Merc side.


Merc 1: Missed the Pic, the Gun Mages/Mule moved up behind the wall of doom and chillaxed. Alexia/Halberds went forward in the middle, Cav did the outflank deal and Aiyanna/Holt tried to mount the hill and sucked at it. Seriously, I hate that hill. The ones I made might have been ugly, but at least models can sit on them.
Sure Foot went on Acosta who stayed where he was, Death March went on the Risen.


Cygnar 2: Rangers run around, two get possessed of suicidal bravely, one going into the Halbs, the other engaging Aiyanna/Holt. Boomies spread around liberally. TAC move up behind the wall, they throw Fire Blasts and kill loads of the clumped up Risen. Centurion toes the right zone and Polarity Fields. Caine moves up and kills Alexia and the remaining Risen.


Merc 2: Seems I forgot to take photos at the beginning of my turns this game, I blame the clock out last round. Savio does hi free move to go up and watch the nearest Boomhowler tough. Rocinante/Halberdiers kill two of the engaging Boomies and the Ranger in the centre. The Mule on the left gets Dead Eye, aims, hits Greygore with a crit and slams a TAC and Eiryss. All three live. Holt kills the Ranger engaging him. The Cav charge into the right zone, killing another pair of Boomies and a third Ranger.


Cygnar 3: Upkeeps drop, its Zone clearing time, I have to pop Sure footed Savio and the Cav. Between Aiyanna/Holt, Rangers and Alexia charging four of the Steelhead Cav and the last one fails his command check. Caine moves up as the only model I trust to kill Acosta, boosts his too hit rolls to get the kill then Gate Crashes to the right zone. TAC screw up on drifting gloriously into the Gun Mages. Because of the Mule Slam I have to run the Squire to score in the left zone, that's some pro Swan play there.

Cygnar go to 3 CP.


Merc 3: The centre mosh pit sees my stuff die off, the Gun Mages easily the Squire and the pair of TAC die to them and the Mule. The Cav chump rallies, Aiynna/Holt put Alexia down to one wound and one Risen in command.


Cygnar 4: Forgot my turn pic this time to spice it up?
Alexia spawns dudes, she kills Aiyanna/Holt, Caine kills the Cav dude to finish it off on scenario.


Me on the right, wouldn't call this the height of Caine play but happy with most of the calls I made. For some reason opposing Gun Mages always cause me grief, as I don't leverage my Gun Mages with Rangers enough.
