Game 327 - Rask vs uButcher

Second game was against good old Ed Von Redskies, with the evil that is a Butcher who has had sanity restored by dint of puppy love.

Rask - Wrastler, Horror, Snapper, 3x Posse, Totem Hunter, Bokor + Shamblers

uButcher - 2x Juggernaughts, Doge, 2x Black Dragon IFP, 2x IFP Kovnik, Ternion, Bokur, Orin, Saxon, Widowmakers

Khador Deploy: Proxy base is where the red Jugger actually is.

Minion Deploy: I won the roll, after that last game I decided to take the side with the Linear of safety. I also remembered Prey, picking the IFP Kovnik on the left. Instant improvement! Though in hindsight I'm likely better off picking an IFP unit and embrace having the movement benefit and not using the attack bonus much, Totem is there for solo hunting after all.

Khador 1: Everything runs up, Silence of Death goes on the right IFP unit (My right). Butcher cowers in fear behind the clouded jacks.

Minion 1: Fury goes on the Purple Posse in the middle, Admonition on the Wrastler, Rask feats and everything jogs up. They stay out of Shield March + stab range by a fair bit.

I feated here because I felt that in later turns the moshpit would be going and my feat would achieve nothing. I doubted he would fall back as Russ did, as my infantry out threat his marginally (12 vs 11), which would be a tricky distance to gauge but is thankfully exactly my control area so easily measured.

Khador 2: Silence of Death upkept.
Both IFP move up under Shield March and Iron Zeal and assume ye old triangle formation.
Behind the line of triangles goes the clouded Juggers with a Butcher Puppy between them, then Butcher with all the support buddies behind that.
The Widowmakers run way up the right flank.

I think Butcher should have been lined up where the Puppy is, and have both dogs further out front. We were both very aware of the threat ranges involved, measuring it at least twice from this turn out. Rask has to stay behind the wall in case of Impending Doom, as I don't trust Admo to really save him. More aggressive puppies would have caused me placing issues or triggered vengeance. Note that this time Silence of Death does actually stop Rasks Shambler saving shenanigans, so good to get that right (Code for Ed-told-me-before-the-game-to-stop-me-playing-dumb).

Minion 2: Fury/Admo upkept.
All three Posse charge in, killing various IFP (Mainly done by the Purple Posse with Fury). One Dirged Posse also gets to the Widowmakers and kills one.
Rask shoots off Silence of Death and puts up Inhospitable Ground.
Totem Hunter falls back to a more useful spot, the Wrastler walks to Impending Doom range but gets arm Locked by the Tentacle servant of Yog-soggoth.

I had a good plan at the beginning of the turn and promptly botched the execution. A knot of IFP survived on the left, because I activated Rask at the wrong time so instead of the Purple Posse going then juggling Fury over to the Bone Posse on the left I got snow blinded by the thought of shooting off Silence of Death before the Purple guys invaded, when at this juncture that upkeep didn't really matter. The difference between needing a 10 versus a 7 was emphasised by my dice rolling loads of 9's to rub it in. Damnable dice! Don't they realise they are meant to cover up my tactical errors?

Khador 3: I predicted at the beginning of the turn that Butcher would kill 6 Posse.

Buthcer swings in, Impendings, Flashing Blades, at some point feats, due to not quite lining it up he only pops four of my poor Gatormans. He feats and Energises back onto the hill, camping 2 focus.
The Juggers lumber forward, one blocks LoS to Butcher.
The IFP go in, they pop a few more Posse on the right side.
Orin Null Magics and Support stuff move around. The Bokur ends up to the right of the Butcher on the hill.

Minion 3: This looked like kill Buthcer time.
The plan was for the Wrastler to slam the Jugger over Butcher, then Fury/Elasticy/Boundless Charged Bokor goes in and kills him. Totem/left Posse will also need to clear away the Argus in the way of the Bokor.
No Upkeeps kept.
The Swampy releases the Arm Lock, uses Animus on my Bokor and moves over a little bit.
The right Grey Posse Dirge, causing the Widowmakers to panic. The two fighting on the hill Put the Ogrun on 3 boxes and the IFP Kovnik on 2.
Wrastler slams the Jugger. He hits. If I slam 1 inch, I clip the Butcher by a couple mill and everything is still go. If I go 3+ it goes well past the Butcher and it's a go. I roll a 2, so he rams into the target but pushes him back out of the Bokor's threat range.

Foiled!

Totem Hunter walks forward, Leaps past the Argus and stabs Orin to death. The left Posse clear out the IFP engaging them.
Rask still puts Fury on the Bokor, then casts Inhospitable Ground again and camps one.
Bokor goes into the left Jugger, burns a dozen Risen to kill it.

Well, that didn't go as planned. In the opening moves of the turn I was annoyed because I forgot the plan I had with the Swamp Horror (Move right Posse member, slam Squid into him to knock over the Bokor, Rask can then shoot off Butchers focus), but that was probably overkill and would have left Horror to die alongside the Wrastler and leave me unable to deal with the last Jugger and Butcher with my remaining models.

Khador 4: The Red are tight on the clock at this point, so Ed did his end game robot mode (MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY).
IFP Kovnik slaughters the Totem Hunter, IFP kill a Posse on each flank.
Ternions cloud Butchers unit, Argi charge up while the warcaster himself falls back.
Fully loaded Jugger goes into the Wrastler, leaves him stationary with four boxes of Body left.
Widowmakers rally.

Minion 4: Clocking looks to be the best plan, it's about 15 minutes to 5, so I wanted to keep Rask/the Bokor alive and kill the Jugger.

Left Posse kill off the last IFP engaging them, right Posse kills that sides Kovnik and causes the Widowmakers to flee again.
Swampy gets Boundless Charge, Fury and Spiny Growth, charges the Jugger and kills it, then buys attacks to kill two IFP and a Ternion.
Bokor falls back.

Khador 5: No Pic, as I'm down to 11 minutes.
The last Kovnik and support pieces go into the Horror and hurt it somewhat.
Butcher charges the Horror, Energizers for one to change facing, with the charge and a flashing blade kills both of my heavies.
Pair of Ternions run to block my Bokors charge lane.
Widowmakers fail to rally.
Butcher is camping four focus.

Minion 5: Left Posse run, one engages the War Dog to stop Counter Charge shenanigans, the other runs base to base with Butcher after Praying for Pathfinder (Well, anything but Dirge).
Right Posse go, the leader takes out both Ternion blokes.
Bull Snapper slams the Posse in front of Butcher to knock both of them down.
Rask puts Fury and Boundless Charge onto the Bokur, optimistically falls back.
Bokor charges Butcher, burns all but two Shamblers to put him in the dirt.
