Game 306 - Gorten vs 3Lylth

Monday BATTLE!

Gorten - Earthbreaker, pAlexia + Risen, ATGM + Dude, 2x Press Gangers, Anastasia, Tinker, Gorman, Madelyn, Piper, Thor, Pendrake

ADR swap: Hawk dropped, Pendrake in. If I had the model at the time I would have also replaced Anastasia with Alten Ashley.

3Lylth - Archangel, 2x Angel, Shredder, Forsaken, 2x Shepherd, Rangers + UA, Succubus

I had no idea Rangers existed. Earlier in that day I also contemplated Legion matchups, coming to the conclusion I didn't need to read Lylth3's card because no one plays her. Bugger.

Incursion, which is the same as what we rolled last time we did Mercs vs Legion.


Legion Deploy: Anastasia, sensing I wanted to swap her out, did sod all to help the roll. Russeldorf picks first. There is also a shepherd behind Russel's hand, future attempts to shield her from the paparazzi will fail. I will now refer to this Shepherd as Britney.

Proxies:
Hyperion = Archangel
Cricket Battle Enginey Thing = 3Lylth

Merc Deploy: Reasonably standard by this point, Gorman goes across from the Archangel. After I finished deploying I proved the truth of stereotypes by badly failing to catch Alten when the Johnstoninator threw him over.

Legion 1: Lylth puts up Escort. Everything runs up, anything not on a small base gets Tenacity. Britney hides behind the Archangel, proving my earlier statement to be incorrect.

Merc 1: One to the Earthbreaker.

Piper puts tough on Alexia/Risen. The Gun Mages try optimistic Snipe shots on the Rangers, they all fall short by at least half an inch. The Press Gangers march to their doom.

Gorten plonks down a wall then charges behind it, ending on the hill, then Alexia stands next to him. They share some champagne and postulate on the true nature of being wika wika .

Gorman runs to be behind the Obstruction on the right, Anastasia sits in the forest on the left out of habit (Forest verse Legion brain fail).

Legion 2: The turn of some nice, innocent, BRUTAL PRESS GANGER MURDER.

Escort upkept for free. The Rangers for the most part aim, they kill a few Press Gangers though they miss far more than they should. Lylth shoots down and Blood Boons a spray to kill a slew. Both Angels advance and do a few Overtake attacks. Britney hides in the Trench, where she regrets playing with your heart. The Archangel moves to contest the right flag, he fails to get enough attacks to bypass Sucker! on Madelyn.

Merc 2: Alexia Intrigues up to be in charge range of the right Angel, Risen mostly plonk in the battery though one goes 7 inches from Gorten next to the middle flag.

I don't upkeep the wall and give nothing to the Earthbreaker. Piper puts Fearless/Tough on Aleixa/Risen, then Pendrake gets in on the action by giving them Beast Lore. Thor Tunes up the Earthbreaker for damage.

Gorten charges and kill a Risen, feats on the Angels, Archangel and Lylth, pushing for 0. Camps all five.

Gun Mages advance, they suck harder than the Hobbit trilogy level (Come on, can you really tell me that you found the end of #2 satisfying?) and kill nothing.

Gorman walks up, Black Oils the Archangel. What remains of the Press Ganger units (Three each) charge, the Commies go into the left Angel and do little. The Smurfs go into the Archangel and do a little better.

Alexia charges the right Angel, Risen run up and spread around in front of Gorten. The back half a dozen or so are burn to buy attacks/boost damage so she kills the Angel.

Anastasia sprints forward to stand in front of Lylth, Madelyn runs tot he other side.

Earthbreaker walks up a little, shoots the Archangel a reasonable number of times for a bit under average damage.

Conversational Interlude! (Paraphrased)
Russ: Well, the Archangel is screwed
Me: Na, the Earthbreaker is out of charge range, I can only shoot it next turn so it's fine
Russ: How much health do you think the Archangel has left?
Me: Um....30ish?
Russ: It has 16.
Me: Oh. Yeah, it's screwed.

Never underestimate the fine porcelain that is a flying Dragon thing.

Mercs go to 1 CP.

Legion 3: Escort upkept for free.

The Rangers move around to claim the flag, they kill four of the Gun Mages including the officer, they then fail their morale check.

Britney, noticing that the Archangel was looking Toxic, spread some loves and heals his Spirit for one.

The left Angel munches the last few Commies. The Archangel kills a Smurf but misses the other attacks.

The Shredder goes rabid, eats Madelyn.

Lylth aims, shoots down the nearest Risen but misses Anastasia, Blood Boons an ineffectual spray.

The Forsaken hiding behind Lylth strips a focus off the left Angel.

Mercs go to 2 CP.

Merc 3: No Allocates. Thor Tunes up for Damage, Piper puts Tough on Alexia and co.

Gorten runs the hell away to the right. Gorman Black Oils the Archangel.

Earthbreaker moves up, shoots the Archangel down.

Alexia charges the Shredder, burns a couple Risen to kill it and otherwise jams Lylth.

Gun Mages Rally, Pendrake runs forward.

Anastasia walks onto the hill, Esponiages, uses it to move to the middle flag. Gun Mages advance, contest the left flag and kill a Ranger, Pendrake misses with his supposedly Lucky Bow.

Tinker runs to the right flag, remaining pair of Commies charge Britney in the trench and free her from the oppressive public eye.

Mercs go to 4 CP.

Legion 4: Escort upkept for free.

Foraken moves up, explodes to knock down a Risen and put Alexia on one box.

Lylth feats, tramples forward which kills Alexia, then shoots the Tinker dead, Blood Boons a spray to kill Anastasia.

The Rangers kill the Gun Mages and plink the Earthbreaker once.

Angel charges the Earthbreaker in the rear, does reasonable damage.

Succubus runs, fails to get in contest range of the right flag.

Legion goes to 2 CP, Russ Concedes as there is no means to stop me getting to 5 control points (Earthbreaker can walk to the middle flag, Gorman can go to the right one, if it was needed Pendrake could run to contest the left flag).
