Game 305 - MacBain! vs eVayl

Slam Round 2: Caw Caw Attack!

Just so I don't forget what I played...

MacBain! - Galleon, Silly Fishmonger, eAlexia, Kayazy Assassins + UA, Kell, eEiryss, Orin, Rockbottom, TAC, Aiyanna + Holt, Dougal, Eliminators

eVayl (NOT TIER; THIS IS MADNESS) - 2x Angels, Hellion, Zuriel, Bloodseer, Succubus, Shredder, 2x Shepherds, Sacral Vault, 2x Deathstalkers

It's everyone's favourite, Incursion! I've done pretty well with MacBain! on this scenario before, so I was cautiously optimistic on that front and sweating bullets over having Kayazy against the Eyeless site shenanigans. I think I would rather verse a Vault than Ravagores though.


Merc Deploy: I won the roll, ended back on the side I played previously. Huggle Tower will not be as big an ally this time around.

Legion Deploy: As is the way with list experimenting we got some Proxies here.

Merc 1: One to Galleon.

Kell and Alexia have flashbacks to the game they just played, he shuffles to the Linear and she goes far up the board on the left edge. The TAC spread out on the left side of Huggles Tower.

On the extreme right, I show rapid improvement with the Eliminators by activating them on turn one this time. They run.

Galleon runs forward and to the right, MacBain stays behind it and puts Fail Safe on our Colossal friend. The Kayazy clump up between the Galleon and Huggles Tower, the remaining Solos cram in behind the Khadoran chumps.

Legion 1: The Vault gets two souls. Everything runs up, Vayl hides behind the Obstruction and puts Refuge on the centre Angel, Occultation on the right Angel, shoots the Bloodseer for a node, puts Admonition on Zuriel and Tenacities the Angels.

Left Deathstalker moves up, does a damage point to Alexia. Right one sprints to stand in front of the Angel, then gets Tenacity from the Shredder.

At the end of my turn I finally remembered that Obliteration exists, and was quite concerned that a model would run up, become a Node then channel a bast into my Kayazy clump. Thankfully the distances and scatter were discouraging....

Merc 2: Galleon gets a focus, Fail Safe is upkept for free from Silly. Dougal moves up a little, Artillerists Galleon and pops Double Powder Ration.

The Assassins run out in a semi circle to try to take up charge Real Estate on the Galleon. Eiryss walks up and pings Tenacity/Refuge off the centre Angel. Galleon then walks forward, nipple shots kill the right Death Stalker, boosts the Harpoon to drag in said Angel.

MacBain! feats, picking Sylyss, Holt, Eiryss, Orin, and Eliminator and six of the assassins. He walks to be 8" behind the Galleon, casts Fortune (Range increase from Silly) on the Colossal then casts Jack Hammer, the final attack killing the dragged in Angel.

The Eliminators and Holt/Aiyanna Run, Holt and one of the Kayazy ladies try to close out the final landing spots. Silly becomes weirdly brave and does the same thing.

Orin walks up and uses Anti Magic.

Alexia walks up into Soul collection range on the left Deathstalker, who then lives through the TAC throwing fireballs. Kell runs far to the left to be annoying to the left flag in future turns.

Dangit! I didn't want Alexia to charge the Deathstalker and engage with the TAC fireball plan, but she could have walked up and Hellfired. Not doing well with this solo....

Admonition on Zuriel upkept.

On the left, the Deathstalker does a point to the front TAC and sits on that flag. The Vault moves up, gets two shots, kills one of the TAC and does two more points to the injured contesting model. It Bone Shakers, but the newly temporally enzopmbied TAC fails to hurt his former comrade.

The Sorceress charges the Eliminator to magically spray, but is blocked by Orin. She misses a melee attack instead.

Zuriel charges in, animus', sprays down a Kayazy and knocking down/sets on fire an Assassin, the Underboss, Eiryss and Orin. He buys a spray on Holt, who Quick Works it away.

Vayl pings the Bloodseer for Arc Nodage, puts Refuge on the Angel, Obliterates to knock down some of the Kayazy on the right and Silly. Tenacity goes on Zuriel and the Angel.

The Angel charges the Galleon, fitting in the spot next to Holt (Needed one more inch!). He Armour Pierces, buys two attacks boosting the damage and falls back, Galleon is missing most of his right side but is still all systems go. Refuge allows the Angel to pull back.

The Shepherd charges the right Eliminator and misses.

Merc 3: Fire kills the Assassin and Orin, but Eiryss and the Underboss live (STOP DROP AND ROLL!)

I pay one to upkeep Fortune, as Silly was to brave for MacBain to benefit.

On the left, the TAC walk up and flame the Death Stalker, they both miss but kill with the AoE. Alexia, now with a Soul, charges the Vault, takes a wound and rolls max damage on the sword attack doing ten points. Riding the dice high I wastefully burn her one soul to buy an attack that pings off for nothing at dice -8.

Eiryss stnads up, strikes a heroic pose on her building corner, shoots Zuriel knocking off Admonition and Tenacity.

The Eliminators activate, the forward blond walks over to the Shredder while the Brunette stands up in front of the Hellion. The Brunettes attacks the Hellion, Sidesteps to the Bloodseer, hits him and sidesteps to the Shredder. The Blonde attacks the Shredder, does reasonable damage but doesn't quite kill.

Aiyanna and Holt activate, she moves up a little in the back field while he walks over to the left. She Harms Zuriel, he shoots said beasty for a little.

The Assassins mini feat and charge/run, though most of them are just walking. One charges the Shredder, another runs to give the Gang bonus, two get into the left Beast Shepherd. Those two targets die.

Silly tries to limp to the right flag, but is sadly 5mm short. Eyes off the Beast Shepherd, signally a future epic battle worthy of many a ballad.

Dougal moves up, puts Artillerist on the Galleon. Galleon goes up, shoots down the Succubus but fails to drag in the Angel or kill the Beast Shepherd standing in the open.

MacBain! moves to be exactly 6" away from the Galleon, casts Jackhammer a few times to kill Zuriel.

Legion 3: Refuge on the Angel upkept.

The Vault spends its remaining Souls to kill Alexia, then takes her soul (Killed her with exact damage, if she had kept that Soul on her she would have lived....)

Hellion moves around the Galleon, attempts to spray the Eliminators and clump of three Assassins, rolls poorly. Bloodseer attempts some stabbage and also rolls poorly.

Angel goes in, leave the Galleon on six boxes, Refuges back.

Vayl feats this turn, Oblits away the Eliminators and the Assassins around her after cycling Refuge on herself, falls back behind the Obstruction.

The Shepherd misses Sylyss.

Merc 4: Fortune drops.

Aiyanna and Holt move up, she Harms the Vault which it Vortexes away, Holt shoots it for a bit. Kell pings the Vault for a pair of points. The TAC charges in, between them they kill it.

MacBain moves to the left, ends exactly 6" away from the Galleon, which he casts Fail Safe on then Jack Hammers to kill the Hellion. Galleon then activates, does some shots on the Bloodseer.

Dougal and Rockbottom do some shots on the Seer, pinging it a bit. The remaining Assassins go, two charge the Seer and finish it, the other two take up camp either side of the Obstruction Vayl keeps cowering behind.

Silly dances around his flag, misses the Shepherd.

Mercs go to 1 CP (Centre flag)

Legion 4: Angel charges the Galleon and kills it.

Vayl moves to the right side of the Obstruction, Obliterates the Underboss and his buddy dead. She then shoots the Kayazy nearest her, leaving one left on the other side of the terrain. She puts REfuge on herself.

The Shepherd misses Silly.

Legion goes to 1 CP.

Merc 5: Kell runs to the left flag. Aiyanna/Holt, TAC, Dougal and Eiryss all do shots on the Angel with minimal effects. Rockbottom attempts to intrude on the epic duel on the right flag but misses.

MacBain! runs way to the left.

Sylyss misses the Shepherd.

Mercs go to 2 CP.



Legion 5: Vayl cuts, then comes around from the rock, shoots the last Assassin dead, Obliterates Aiyanna/Holt. The Angel charges the TAC and kills them.

The Shepherd misses Sylyss.

Merc 6: Kell, Dougal and Eiryss all shoot Vayl, she is left on two boxes.

MacBain! makes sure to be more than 12" away from the Angel.

Sylyss moves to one side of the flag, misses the Shepherd.

Rockbottom, finally tiring of this nonsense, aims and burns the Shepherd to death.

Mercs go to 3 CP.

Legion 6: Vayl moves up, Obliterates at Rockbottom to kill him and Eiryss, misses a shot on Silly.

Angel moves to the left flag and Riles for 4.

Legion goes to 2 CP.

Mercs go to 4 CP and Russ concedes, the emotional battle of Shepherd vs Sylyss finally resolved.
