Game 303 - Dr Arkadus vs pMakeda

Weird League thing is on, wherein I try to get rid of some SUSS from my other factions by dropping some Minions.

Such is my power of originality, I'll use the recognised default Arkadius:

Arkadius (The good Tier @ 4) - Two of: Road Hog, War Hog, Gorax, Gun Boar. Then Targ, Bone Grinders (Min), 6 Razor Boars

I'm more inclined toward Arcane Wonder over Fuel, but the might Lazy Peon generator decided it was to be close quarters, so nevermind.

I versed Paul Paul Paul Paul (If you played in Capital that should be damn hilarious. If not, you missed out on an in joke of questionable value).

pMakeda - Molik, Tibbers, Gladiator, KELTARII (Max), Traitorous Bokor + Shamblers, Paingivers, Feralgeist, Tycom

Seriously, what the hell are Keltarii?

Three heavies is a problem, as is the Bokor. I need to Alpha either Molik or Tibbers and the Bokor to win out on attrition.

Ark Deploy: Won the roll, picked first.

Skorne Deploy: Heavies outflanking, at least one in the standard Skorne "My Butt is actually my Face" position.

Ark 1: Forced Evo goes on the right Road Hog, Everything runs up. I contemplate Aggravator for about ten seconds, until the count of Skorne Ranged attacks comes up a solid 0.

Skorne 1: Keltarii skirmish line out the front, a few of them stay back near the Bokor and Makeda. Molik chills out on the far left, Makeda plonks Defenders Ward and Rush on Tibbers, then moves up the centre line of the board camping two. Tibbers put up Bump and walks up the right side, the Gladiator behind him.

Ark 2: Forced Evo Drops. I decide I can either pop the Bokor and threaten Makeda or try to kill Tibbers. Tibbers would be the better call, except Bump and inability to counter it make that a step to far.

Left Gun Boar shoots at a Keltarii and sucks. The RaBo's charge the Keltarii, killing a few of them. The Right Gun Boar falls back to free up LoS for the feat.  One Gorax puts Primal on the left Road Hog.

Arkadius puts Forced Evo on the left Road Hog, Primal shocks the Feralgeist to death and feats, the RaBo's savage a few more Keltarii but leave an unfortunately placed one that causes the odds of wiping out the unit with sprays to shrink. Both Road Hogs and one War Hog feat charge forward, the right War Hog sadly looks to be in charge range of the friendly heavies so does nought.

Right Road Hog walks forward, flames the Bokor for a big hit, killing all the shamblers and doing a point to the Gator. Makeda also gets hit and goes down to 11 hit points. At this point I realise that I need a Massacre move to get the left Road Hog into Makeda, so the forward War Hog stumbles around and puts Massacre on the left Road Hog, knocking off Primal.

Targ decides he doesn't want to live anymore and runs his full 12 toward Makeda. The left Road Hog charges the Bokor, I boost the hit and kill. Massacre moves the Road Hog into Makeda, boosted Gore misses, bought and boosted attack hits and does seven points that goes to the Gladiator.

Not having Primal was a big problem, more for the MAT buff than anything else. I also failed to use the Assault shot and the free Massacre attack.

The back models move around a little and get jiggy with it.

Ultimately I took the substandard options. The assassination run was fun but low odds, the Bokor death was good (Shamblers gone also ideal) but preferably I get the Keltarii. Initially that was viable as I intended to Crippling Grasp them, but the RaBo's had to go before I popped feat and I charged the nearest Keltarii instead of running to get feat attacks on the more distant models.

I also thought I was going to be feat charging the War Hogs forward, reality is that the proper move is to sacrifice the Road Hogs to try to get the War Hogs into Molik/Tibbers, my initial read on the attrition being in error.

Skorne 2: Keltarii spawn back, Defenders Ward upkept. Makeda pops Carnage, hits the Road Hog and side steps onto the hill. Keltarii/Tycom clear out some blocking RaBos'. Paingivers put Enrage on Tibbers and Molik. Gladiator puts Rush on Tibbers.

Tibbers charges the right Road Hog, also engaging the forward War Hog. His Initials kill the Road Hog, then he maxes out to pop the War Hog.

Ow. That's one way to highlight my placement error.

Molik charges the Forward Road Hog, sidesteps off the first one to step around, misses the second initial to be proudly displaying his rear end to the Pig army (A mating call perhaps? Most likely he got confused by natural Skorne placement as to what his facing actually is). He buys a few to easily kill the Road Hog.

Ark 3: Left Gun Boar Frenzies, charges a RaBo through the forest and gets no where near. Bone Grinders craft Arkadius' Talisman (A Peace Symbol necklace from his hippy party days at the university). Arkadius then walks up a little, getting barely in the kill box and in range to Crippling Grasp Tibbers, which he does. He then Maltreats and puts Forced Evo on the War Hog. Gorax puts Primal on the War Hog.

War Hog dials for strength, charges Tibbers and lops his head off. RaBo's and Targ flail at the Keltarii.

Skorne 3: Defenders Ward Upkept. Makeda casts Carnage and moves forward on the hill a bit. Keltarii stab at RaBo's and miss Targ. Marketh puts Savagery on Molik.

Gladiator charges, easily kills the War Hog.

Molik walks up to the nearest Gorax, Sidesteps to get into Arkadius, kills the Gorax then misses Arkadius a few times, causes one Transfer that kills a RaBo.

Ark 4: Grim times. I have two Gun Boars, Targ, a Gorax, Arkadius and irrelevant RaBo's to kill Makeda, who is on a hill with one transfer and eleven boxes.

Arkadius cuts for one. Right Gun Boar runs to be just over 8 inches from the Gorax, lined up on Makeda. The Gorax slams that Gun Boar, easily gets the slam, I roll 3 inches which is in Slam range of Makeda by about 2mm. Arkadius Throws in three Primal shocks, two of them damage boosted (Maltreated in the middle for enough fury).

Each Primal Shock does a few points (Dice -8), leaves Makeda on three boxes. The left Gun Boar moves up, fully boosted shot does about ten damage that strips off Makedas Transfer.

Last possible attack, Targ turns around, Ancillary attacks the Gun Boar.

Gun Boar hits, I need a seven to kill.

Dice roll in tray.

First roll comes up as a 1.

Second comes up as a 6.

Undeserved victory!

Winions left, Skorne on right. Given how demolished I was clock victory still wasn't looking great.
