Game 372 - Arkadius1 (WWfF) vs Axis1(DI) - Rnd4 Oktoberkrieg2

Game 372 - Arkadius1 (WWfF) vs Axis1(DI)  - Rnd4 Oktoberkrieg2
Invasion

Ye old finale! Into one of our infrequent foes from the country's real capital. kaider Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand should just skip out on Chorus'.

One of my old for warcasters as well, Axis with double TEP. Played the matchup a fair number of times, one of the few builds were the double Road Hog is definitely better, as War hogs fundamentally threat the same as TEPs while the Roadies get an extra two inches of glory. That's a band name right there.

There was an Orion list with an Axiom and triple Assimilators as well, we both knew that wasn't going down as it dies pretty thoroughly.

I won the roll and picked first for the only time in the tourney. Wasn't to phased about table side as there wasn't a defensive wall/obstacle on either side and a central forest against huge bases played into the matchup for me, essentially making the War Hog vs TEP threat range inconsequential as the Battle Engines can't hide from line of sight. Because it's hard not to see the phallic grandfather clocks that attack using multiple spurts.

Round 1: Everything runs up, the Road Hog goes into range to threaten the left TEP. Pair of War Hogs go up behind the forest. Right War Hog moves up and can be TEPed if Axis wants to pop his feat. Aggravator up, Forced Evo up on the Road Hog assuming it'll have to pop the Battle Engine.

TEPs advance tepidly. I really hate myself for writing that, currently being assaulted by Swamp Puns due to the release of the Croak Lesser Warlock.
Anyway Convergence move forward a short ways, mostly just keeping their deployment line aside from Servitors that run around trying to being a block for the Battle Engines. The Cipher targets a pair of them to add rough terrain to the central forest.

Minion 2: The forest tech and the Sentinel jam aren't bad plays, ultimately though for it to not be worth me going it Axis would need to feat. In fact casting upkeeps and fuelling the Cipher shots has left him without camp and he's not positioned behind a wall of jacks, so it's a matter of getting stuff up on false flag missions to trigger the various counter charges or otherwise engage the Donginators, given the way this flops is if the War Hogs get knocked down before attacking.

Central War Hogs get Primal.

Forced Evo flips to one of the War Hogs, Razor Boars run up and sure enough trigger some counter chargers. Road Hog sprays down a bunch of Servitors on the left. Frenzies allow further engagement and get all the War Hogs forward, right one zooming up the side, central pair have pathfinder from the objective and Witch Doc Ghostly so use the TEP as a charge target to get up.

One War Hog kills some blocking Vectors, a second trivially kills Axis.

Not a lot to process here, there is a very real and difficult onus on the Axis player to get through Arkadius' feat to make a game of it. Early CoC feat essential. There are Convergence lists that are more favourable, happily they aren't in Destruction Initiative so I don't have to think about them.

I win the tourney, get to keep the literal crown until next time. When the Sharks will descend and I can collect that sweet wooden spoon award.

Game 371 - Arkadius1 (WWfF) vs Wurmwood1(BoO) - Rnd3 Oktoberkrieg2

Game 371 - Arkadius1 (WWfF) vs Wurmwood1(BoO)  - Rnd3 Oktoberkrieg2
Epic Recon

Semi finals time! Top four is Circle Bones of Orboros, Menoth Thyra/Kreoss and Convergence Axis/Orion. None of the bugbears, so can just be Arkadius for daaaaays.

Scenario is Epic Recon as well, which is typically very good for a fast moving mostly battlegroup force with sufficient throwaway solos.

I get one of my locals that endured me on the journey, so this should be good. Facing a lot of Circle of late. It's Krueger/Wurmwood, he knows what I'm dropping and that the floating telekinesis man wants nothing to do with it, so it's Mad Doc vs sentient Tree (If it screams at a pitch to high for the human ear to hear when dying of thirst, does it think?).

I lose the roll for the third time, once again get given side. This is pretty good for me on this table though, one side is an open sort of killing field with some rubble that's not in the zone whereas I get a left side obstruction in the form of a windmill and a very well placed forest to hide behind.
There's also fog on my right and defensive water/trench stuff that isn't as relevant.

Round 1: Circle dash their stuff up, Sentry Stones units on either flank and heavies leaning toward to the right of centre. Wurmwood ports to be just shy of the Road Hog frenzying forward then charging in (I could get their with a frenzy attack not kill. Woot.). Their's a min unit of Farrow Bone Grinders that honourably fall on their own dirty blades to feed souls to the block of evil wood.

If the tree had no Fury I could run all the Warhogs into Frenzy Charge range. Primal them first, they all go in with one Cleaver attack plus a spray from the Roadie would be just shy of a 90% kill run. Alas, he was camping a couple and plonked a forest down the centre to make life difficult. A Mad Doc Pig flinger can dream.

Instead my stuff runs up, Razor Boars out on the flank. One War Hog moves up on the left behind the obstruction, other heavies go behind the central forest. Orin goes up front between the forest and objective to Arcane Vortex Hellmouth attempts.
Aggravator is up. Solos stay the hell back to keep safe from attempts to ninja them out.
The left War Hog gets used to pop out a Primal Shock to kill the left Gallows Grove, need to pop those Arc Nodes pretty quick.

Circle 2: Central forest sticks around to be annoying.

Leftwise there's a pair of pew pew wolds, they start shooting the left War Hog who Hyper Aggresives forward and engages them. The Tree later Strangleholds him, though it takes three attempts to land the boosted 9.

Centrally the Wardens move up, they try TKing the right most War Hog. I vortex the first one and let the second one go, megalith then charges in and kills the poor hog.
Wurmwood had planned on feating, ends up deciding it's in to precarious a spot (True, at it's current position I can Ghostly feeat shenanigan my way with a War Hog up to the tree) so it ports to teh back right corner via Cassius and meets up with it's Shifting Stone drinking buddies.

Out right the Sentry Stone manikins charge and kill a Razor Boar. Did not expect that. Genuinely forgot they had melee attacks.

Minion 2: Wurmwood having to abort it's feat plan makes this an easy desicion, kill the three heavies that face smash to the attrition win.

Razor Boars run around to feat positions, one of the left ones is Primalled. I also Primal the Road Hog and central War Hog. I didn't Primal the left War Hog, thinking I'd want at least one active heavy in the next turn.

Out on the left, Razor Boar feat attacks kill that flanks Shifting Stone. Pretty sure I miss the War Hog's Frenzy attack, but not sure on that. Regardless he starts laying about him at the two pew pew wolds (He didn't activate prior to the frenzy as he needed his Spirit healed, otherwise he would have been Fury cleared). Very silly in not Primalling him, as i opt to roll 7's to clear teh Wolds out of the zone. Killed one, landed nothing on the other. Sadness.
Gorax, Bellows Crew and Targ all pop into the bottom half of the zone to contest.
Notably the Bellows Crew ran up the extreme left to contest the Circle flag, their positions made it impossible for both Razor Boars to get charges on the Sentry Stone, however I lucked out on the damage rolls.

Centrally the Road Hog frenzies into the central Gorax, who ran into the forest to get the necessary positioning. Roadie recieved Ghostly prior. He walks into Megaliths backarc, easily kills it, overtakes forward an inch, casts Sprint. Gets shot by the right flank Wold Wyrd with Witchhunter, accursed cheecky little fella. Roadie Sprints up into Wurmwoods vicinity.
The War Hog got pathfinder off the objective, has Primal, Forced Evo and activates its Pain Dial. Walks up to the pair of Wardens, maxes Fury to kill both. Sadly falls shy of Overtake engagement range on the Wold Wyrd.

Right side a Gorax kills the remaining gallows Grove, Primalled razor Boar has a go into the Sentry Stone and falls well short.

Arkadius chills up back with stelathed Orin nearby in a trench, likewise with Eilish.

I only score the right flag for a point, though given the attrition gains not a huge issue. 1-0.

Circle 3: Wurmwood pops forward again with the Shifting Stones and pops feat.
Left Woldwyrd does little to the War Hog engaging it. Right one gets the War Hog with an upkeep on it, so appropaitely murders it with ease.
Sentry Stone has the Manikins go into the back of the Razor Boar, take out its body.

Nothing got to contest my flag on the Circle turn, so go up 2-0.

Minion 3: Road Hog and two of the Razor Boars frenzy, don't do anything to drastic.

Just have to clear out the left zone/flag combo and I'll score the points to win, so the War Hog gets Primalled by the nearby Gorax and easily kills the Wold Wyrd. Only remaining contesting model is a Black Clad wayfarer, arkadius kills him with a Primal Shock.

Targ gets Ghostly, so he runs through the obstruction to the flag. I score both flags and the left zone, 5-0.

Number of positioning errors on my part, such as the Swamp Gobbers. End War hog could also have snuggled up closer and much more reliably just killed the Blackclad, Primal Shock is not a spell to rely on. Should have bit the bullet and just Primalled that War Hog anyway, would have greatly simplified the close out turn. hard game for Circle when Wurmwoods activation goes south so much.

Game 370 - Arkadius1 (WWfF) vs Thyra1(FM) - Rnd2 Oktoberkrieg2

Game 370 - Arkadius1 (WWfF) vs Thyra1(FM)  - Rnd2 Oktoberkrieg2
Spread the Net

Alrighty, round 2! Into the branches of Whitlam's number 11.

It's some churchy bois, with Thyra and a super interesting Reznick2 with battle Engines thing. Was enver going to see the latter though, dropping that list when Arkadius is in play is the height of madness (Huge bases with minimal screening? Don't mind if I do!).

If Rask was in the pairing he'd be the drop, once again though I'm not yet in the fluffier bracket so down went the tried and tested.

Spread the Net, lost the roll and got second turn, mildly annoying as the board will be flooded by the opposing double Idrians. Otherwise the Faithful Masses has a pair of jacks and a load of mounted solos, including a proxy for Hand of Silence.

There's a central forest, so Arkadius is happy for that regardless. I take the side with an obstruction on the right side, given I can ghostly it up pretty well and the Road Hog can potentially just sprint back through it which is sweet when the yo yo works out.

Round 1: The Idrians Prey different War Hogs, then proceed to (sigh) run up and spread around, so even the Battle Boar murder spree will be difficult this game.
Hand of Silence goes right up behind the central forest.

Minor ettiquette note: Allowed one takeback in the opening close out (Thyra Gate of Deathed at the end of the activation, which nominally would have ended the turn before anything else had really advanced. Aka the game becomes a non-contest.), after which we developed a clear "no more backsies" thing. Noteworthy to me because I've historically been bad at communicating this, so nice for that to be resolved without grief on either side, makes the games a lot easier to manage with ownership of errors. Opponent was super understanding of that position.

Thyra'sadding to opposing threat ranges is somewhat aggravating, makes it very hard to get good positions.
I end up opting for Arkadius to go up behind the forest and assemble FORT BACON around him. The Preyed War hogs run to opposing sides to make Prey irrelevant until they die, by which time hopefully the Idrians will be quite reduced.

Couple Razor Boars run out on either flank, ready to be throwaway contestors for the Menoth rectangle/flag.

Solos hang back, stealth up or go behind hte obstruction. Would be quite awful if the Idrians decided to move up and knock out all the support, just makes life hard.

Menoth 2: F)*&#^)#*ing Firefox crashed. Attempt #2.

Thrya moves up and feats, letting most of her boyos pop forward a bit. The Idrians, Champions of the Wall and Hand of Silence charge up, with about half the Idrians spreading out on the flanks.
On the left they manage to scrag one War Hog and badly hurt a Gorax, on the right they leave a War Hog on a couple of boxes.

Didn't really get a good Guardian Beast trigger so ended up just smacking a Champ for some points. ideally the Road Hog would have got a spray on the Idrians as they came in, alas is never lined up well, a lot of that do to models going base to base to ensure Arkadius didn't get unduly attacked.

Minion 2: Menoth have moved up reasonably effectively, hit pretty hard and spaced well to try to get the early score advantage by having models in the way to contest. Unfortunately Thyra's head honcho was out of practice, so at this point had 8 minutes left on the clock to my 55.

It'd be very easy to just move stuff around, contest/score a point on the flag and wait it out. However that would still give them a turn, and sometimes stuff happens and you lose without expecting. Thyra had Gates of Deathed into the Menoth Rectangle behind her special friends jack, well in range of a War Hog to get in on so Assassination is a better bet.

Razor Boars position around and kill some Idrians. left War Hog gets Forced Evo, Puppet Strings, Primalled and Ghostly. Idrans engaging the Goraz are blocking the way, so they get killed by the Road Hog spraying them down.

Feat pushes the War Hog forward after a Razor Boar feated attack kills the last Idrian blocking his charge lane to Thrya, boosts his first two attack rolls to hit and kills her with ease.

Two rounds down, things are looking alright. Accept for Banabus, that mofo is looking more and more unlikely to be a drop. Menoth soul shuffling to be a future headache to deal with.

Game 369 - Arkadius1 (WWfF) vs Baldur1 (CotW) - Rnd1 Oktoberkrieg2

Game 369 - Arkadius1 (WWfF) vs Baldur1  - Rnd1 Oktoberkrieg2
Epic Pit

Alrighty, time for a journey into the hinterland, dubious as the meaning of that word as a descriptor seems to be. I brought Arkadius triple War Hog and Barny2, thinking I'd practice the latter list all day. This fell apart immediately due to beer and crowns being involved.

Opening round into a new entrant to the game rocking some Baldur 1 Call of the Wild. Has Megalith, a Feral, one of the Goats, a Stalker, double Argus, Lord of the Feast, Wrongeye and Snapjaw, support solos.

Grergh. Tourneys need to start in the second round, find the first a struggle to get thinking. Dropped Arkadius given I've got practice with him. Baldur's feat will be a time walk, thankfully Ghostly can get around it for some leeway.

I lose the roll, get choice of side. Epic Pit is vaguely annoying, I'd have been better off with a quicker scenario, Baldur can afford to get up the board and do ye old toe contest. Killing Wrongeye will also be a priority, given Knock Down is off the table and there's a bunch of defence 14 heavies around.
Net result I take the side with a defensive wall that allows super easy contesting of the centre circle, it's of middling use to me however would be super annoying if possessed by Circle.

Also centrally is a fog bank leaning toward the circle side, left side has some corrosive water, right has some Burning Earth, other terrain on the board isn't massively relevant through the game.

Round 1: Circle mostly runs up as a block, aside from Lord of the Feast and an Argus on the right. A forest gets plonked out next to the central fog.

Arkadius pops up Guardian Beast and shuffles forward. Road Hog gets Forced Evo for some more oomf, it's probably overkill on a War Hog if Primal is already involved. One Warhog and Gorax go out left, planning on going for the objective. Puppet Strings goes on a War Hog on the off chance something wanders up and gets to be whacked by Guardian.

Circle 2: Baldy doubles down on the hug-a-thon as everything chills out at the Circle side of the centre zone, with Solid Ground and Star Crossed up. Megalith also has the whatsits upkeep that slows him down and makes him all....I guess stonier?

Gnarlhorn toes the left zone, Argus toes the right. The forest template also got shifted to the other side of the fog bank.

Lord of the Feast backs up to be behind a wall on the back right.

Minion 2: Time to alpha in hard and start dinging up the scenario points. Stones must be broken and Wrongeye killed, then some heavies would be good.

Razor Boars run up to murder positions, two of the War Hogs get Primal and feat pops.

One RaBo misses the Lord of the Feast, another leaves a Shifting Stone on one box, third one is the only iteration that gets to enter the good piggy awards as it guts the Blackclad Wayfarer.
War Hogs just propel forward as does the Road Hog.

Then an attack of the real stupids happens as I activate the War Hogs. To get to Wrong Eye I have to kill one of the Warpwolves, quite achievable if the Primalled centre fella just boosts his to hit rolls. Or you could just opt to forget about the whole Solid Ground thing and try for a headbutt. Sigh. After the Werewolf looks at the Piggy bemusably he gets punched for a bit. The Forced Evo'd/Primalled War Hog then does things properly, easily kills the Stalker then Overtakes across and kills Wrongeye.

Third War Hog isn't Primalled, just buffs for strength and easily kills the Gnarlhorn and the one wound Shifting Stone. Messed up it's placement so it can't get to the opposing objective.

That mess done, the Road Hog just shuffles and does a flame spray.
Arkadius hides behind the wall and a Gobber cloud with lights on either side.

Blergh. No points scored. Says a lot about Arkadius feat turns, but ultimately removing only 3 heavies felt as weak as Ashlynn. Least Star Crossed and teleporting is removed as an issue. Road Hog also could have just gone into the contesting Argus, boosted its attacks, probably killed it and sprinted back to score the right zone.

Circle 3: Megalith gets stone buffed, shuffles up, pop his Animus to kill one War Hog and brutally maim the other. Baldur then swivels around to the top right of the centre zone, pops feat and throws down a forest to stop the surviving War Hog getting into Megs. He also does some casual swings and kills the injured War Hog before him.

The Feral gets Primalled, goes in and kills the Road Hog.

Left Argus goes out the now last standing War Hog, takes out its Spirit. The right little angry puppy goes for the Razor Boar on the Lord of the Feast and kills it, letting ol' Lordy Leau moves up, pew pew the Gobber Chef on the far right to teleport to him and gobble him up.
Stone units, having lost a member each, go into super irritating mode and pop in to contest and shield Megs.

Scoring just isn't the way to go about things, we keep winging it without Control Points.

Minion 3: Feral being Primalled basically means I don't have to do anything to crazy, just kill Megs and I only lose by putting Arkadius somewhere silly. So about a 23% chance to win the way my last few tourney games have been going.

The War Hog gets Ghostly, Forced Evo'd and Primalled, alas for Circle the Shifting Stones are perfectly placed to be stepping points to get to Megalith and easily kill it. The blocking Argus is killed between the two nearby Razor Boars, one Primalled, and the War Hog being Ancillaried by Targ.

Other than that it's just clean up stuff, the Gorax wails on the enemy objective and does poorly. Guess this can be prolonged further then.

Right side Gorax toes the zone, Battle Boar runs across to be involved in the future.

Arkadius stays hiding behind the cloud with Guardian Beast and a couple transfers.

Circle 4: One of the unit of shifting stones is down to a single rock, it ports back to be a frenzy the hell away target for the War Hog (Sodding Primal). Other stones just contest the centre zone.

Baldur shuffles further across, puts up a forest again.

Right side wise, the Feral frenzied into the obejctive for some good damage, it then dies to Lord of the Feast. The Argus gets Primalled and bites into the Gorax, fails to take out any aspects.

Circle get the first score of the game, drawing a point. 0-1.

Minion 4: Circle are quite cut off from scoring the left zone and we're in the end stages of the clock, so key point is to run stuff across to contest the right zone and start racking up the control points.

Left zone wise, the Gorax finally kills the objective and the Gobber Chef I've forgotten since turn 1 runs across. Looks like I forgot to activate Targ. The upper Shifting stone is a hair out of being able to port into the zone, so don't need to worry about killing it.

Centrally Razor Boars frenzy first, this blocks the War hog from getting lost on the way to Bendigo. One Razor Boar does die to his twin poking him in the back, so some sweet Bacon happens.
Arkadius moves through the central zone to toe the left, Guardian Beast up. Swamp Gobbers create the central cloud again lest there be any spell assassination run attempts.
Orin shuffles across, lightnings out a Shifting stone.

Right wise Eilish runs across in my backfield, planning to run in and contest later. The Battle Boar kills Lord of the Feast after Primalling himself. The Gorax was out of Arkadius' control area and moving him in puts the 'lock at threat, so he just flails at the Argus.

I score the elft zone and objective, now 2-1.

Round 5/6: Below the clock threshold where I'm willing to take pics.

Arkadius stays safely put, scoring the left zone in circle turns. I clear off the centre zone at one point and otherwise just move models in to contest the right, end up winning 9-3.

That's the opening round dusted, longest game of the day and definitely wobbly for me. Baldur1 and Megalith Animus should hit the table more.

Game 368 - Rask1 (WWfF) vs Kaya2 (CotW)

Game 368 - Rask1 (WWfF) vs Kaya2 (CotW)
Spread the Net

Travelling from a picturesque country town to my glorified hovel for politicans, it's a Drubear game with......Circle? Is this the real life?

Kaya2 in Call of the Wild, with angry Garou that don't yet have pathfinder. Dropped Rask, given I played Arkady into Circle previously. Opposing list is fast yet expensive heavies, so just have to trade it out and should be reasonably comfortable.

I lose the roll and get choice of table side, important terrain is primarily in the centre zone, in which I take an obstacle side for Rask to cower behind. Circle get a fog bank in the same region, there's a central wall to contest with as well.
Otherwise Circle get a big trench in their rectangle zone on the left, I have a small forest in my rectangle on the right that allows some interplay. Notably neither flag has any terrain around it.

Those Circle trenches mean I go in thinking that gun shots on the left aren't super relevant, while the right forest can be pretty handy to block LoS until Circle get up in my face, which seems unlikely.
Shadowpact is annoying, however there are Shifting stones and bit pieces to pop at I guess.

Round 1: I forget to pick a Prey. Smeg. Had the Token ready and waiting as well. Good at life.

Circle run forward with a lean toward the right, all the heavies sitting in Shifting Stone triangles.
Lord of the Feast goes out left.

Rask feels his typicaly going second awkwardness, I opt to feat given the threat ranges involved. I get first chance to score anyway.
Dahlia/Skarath and a pair of Bone Swarms go out left.
Most other stuff out on the right. Eilish goes more flanky than normal, intent being that if need be he can move up and nuke the Feralgeist if it threatens to score the Circle flag.
Alten pot shots an opposing Gobber Bellows Crew down.

Circle 2: Turns out rask is about half an inch out of Laris running up to engage and Kaya porting to him, so that could have been pretty bad. For the most part Circle backs off, like ya do.

Couple exceptions, most aggressive being the sole griffon that gets Forced Evolution and flies right up to engage Rask, it's back to the house. Didn't expect that one.
The Feralgeist runs up on the right, allowing the Pureblood to port up and do a spray that clips a Pot, Bone Swarm and Brine. They all take damage, the Swarm losing its mind. Feralgeist also pops.

Shadowpact is up.

Minion 2: With feat popped Circle have threat ranges worth caring about again. Quite the nuisance. The Pureblood is a free get, otherwise it's a matter of ensuring Rask gets away from the Griffon. I'll start the scoring pops and that can be that.

Math issue is that unlike shlubby Merc heavies, MAT 6 doesn't cut it for a 3 Fury beast to off the Defence 14 Warpwolves, so that has to be fixed before the kill happens.

Leftwise Dahlia sits with Haunting Melody on the flag, no Circle Beasts are toeing their rectangle so I don't have to care about the throwaway contesting. Skarath sits out of Warpwolf threat range and puts up Counterblast.
One Boneswarm toes the central zone in front of the house with Swarm up, expecting it to die but be problematic in doing so, his 'swarm bud backs up a smidge to be safe.

Rask gets Ghostly and Puppet Strings, backs up from the Griffon and hits it with a Paralysis bolt. The Wrastler then eats it with ease.

On the Circle side of the......I guess make that the Oboros side of the circle zone the Fury'd Bone Swarm charges up, eats a Shifting stone to break one o fhte units, then pops a Gallows and a Blackclad. I wanted to make a go of it on both blackclads, alas that would be 8's to hit so I instead I boosted the attack roll and took the one certain kill rather than the dubious pair.

Rightways, the Admonitioned Boneswarm gets Puppet Strings, slams the Pureblood down. Brine pops Animus, charges in and eats it without issue, gets Souie'd back.

Extreme right gets the Totem Hunter, plus the epic duel of my Gobber Chef engaging the remaining enemy Swamp Gobber.

I score my flag and rectangle, 2-0.

Circle 3: Brine is still in range of the Feral if all the range increease buffs land. Dangit.

Kaya arcs Dogpile through the Gallows at Brine, misses the first attempt so has to try again, landing it but now unable to Shadowpact. Happy days. She then falls back from murder range of my things, which is rude and clearly pursuing an anti-Winion agenda.

Out left, Lord of the Feast shoots Skarath and ports into his back arc, takes out half the spirit.
One of the Stalkers charges the Bone Swarm with its Animus up, boosts it's attack rolls and maxes fury to kill it then sprints around the house to engage a bunch of stuff.
Laris runs to toe the Circle rectangle.

Centrally a Stalker kills the Furyed Bone Swarm, however his advance triggers the Admonition Boney Beast who moves across and now vlocks the Feral getting in on Big Pig.
The Stalker sprints to be behind the wall.
Gallows Grove ports to contest my rectangle.

Rightside, Feral pops Primal, goes in on the once Admo Swarm, kills it and ports back to Kaya with her feat.
Shifting Stones shuffle around, the Blackclad runs to the Circle flag.

Circle scores their flag and rectangle, now 2-2.

Minion 3: Just a matter of killing the Stalkers and riding the attrition coaster at this point, given how well the Bone Swarms have traded around this match.

Out left, the Pot gets Ghostly and Puppet Strings to try to clear Skarath. Blipped on him having Stealth, so that was a poor move.
Skarath just walks to the nearby Stalker, LotF freestrike takes out it's Mind. Dahlia's bond and boosting the opening attack makes that not matter, Snek fills up Fury but comfortably kills the Circle heavy.
I've run out of attacks in the vicinity to kill the Lord of the Feast, so Dahlia just goes up into the Circle rectangle to contest, hiding out in the trench.

Centrally, Brine gets Boundless Charge and Raged as Rask pops a shot to Paralyse the Stalker behind the Wall. Big Pig is smoked forward by little pig, goes in and easily eats the Stalker.
Rask has Admonition on himself now, he hides behind a Boneswarm, Wrastler and Gobber Cloud deal lest shenanigans be attempted.

Rightside Totem Hunter pops in and kills the Blackclad on teh Circle flag, Sprints back.
The duelling Gobbers continue missing their attacks.

I score my rectangle and the circle, now 4-2.

Round 4: Feral frenzy kills a Shifting Stone. Circle stuff moves in to contest, Kaya kills Brine. Ultimately nothing can score and it's relatively trivial for me to clear stuff out and score three points.

Well that worked out alright. Seems hard for Kaya2 at the moment, got the tools to get the job done in the Raskilous icecream. Sort of amtchup that makes me wish I had a Mist Speaker, just one of the compromises to live with in a list aimed at non-Stealth matchups.

Game 366/7 - Arkadius (WWfF) vs Krueger2 (BoO) w/rerack

Game 366/7 - Arkadius (WWfF) vs Krueger2 (BoO) w/rerack
Epic Pit

Back in ye local realm, it's a Kreuger2ing time!
Trying out Arkady, in theory this should be fine for me however those mark 2 claw marks were deep.

By god I do not care for the smell of Sauerkraut. Can feel it digging in and fighting for a home.

I win the roll, get first. Dominant terrain piece is an obstruction in the centre zone that leans towards my side. I also have a leftside forest, a right side hill and some water in front of my deployment zone.
Circle have a trench in the left zone, a defensive fog bank and a forest out right.

Based on gameplay, I'd say I had the better side. List is fast enough to not care much about the blocking water and gets better use out of the defensive water.

Quickie: There's a quick push out of deployments and Krueger feating on the bottom of 1, unfortunately still within easy feat and charge range of a Roadhog via Ghostly while camping none.

Minion 1: My stuff runs up. Only one Sentry Stone is a nice change of pace. Arkadius puts up Aggravator, opposing list has the right level of distance attacks to make it quite viable (Not enough guns to reliably pop heavies yet will break armour). Forced Evo goes on a Razor Boar out on the left, this is due to the annoying pew pew Wolds that are my bane.

Hmm. Bit of a civil war of a paragraph there. Guns are so fine I hate this pew pew bot.

War hogs spread out, Road Hog is central to maximise his threat range meanness.

Circle 1: Krueger moves up, arcs a TK through the left Gallows Grove to spin a War Hog around.
Feats and gets everything in the centre, doesn't get the Razor Boars out on the edge.

Leftside the Sentry Stone shoots a Razor Boar, which Hyper Aggresives forward.
Rightside Fulcrum and a Woldwyrd shoot at the Gorax who is out of Arkadius' control (Targ is on the flank so wasn't to concerned) and thus not subject to Aggravator, they kill it to the box. Rude.

[img]https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNGC6J8jKe44b5yT_mJEiPWKN_6GOBe72GEkebB5gBvrAEFjEw7PIoRmtl2n-tB6gck45YPLTstnL_xqCnPBnB10NfeBUM8iDYd6qxIxY-zc7x3dMjad78d7Vpcf9rjovq01V7f9-4C1UD/s1600/039+%2528800x451%2529.jpg[/img
Minion 2: Well there's no Krueger to kill with feat. In fact there is basically nothing to kill worth popping feat, so this is a turn of do some bit plays and just reposition. Happy that I can contest well enough anyway.

The left War hog has line of sight to the most forward manikin, so gets to charge up and kill a couple Twigmen. This lets the most forward Razor Boar be Primalled and charge the Shifting Stone, doing five damage. It didn't pop a forest, so Arkadius manages to kill it with a War Hog Primal Shock. Feel the power of the fist! Accept not, it was garbage and deserved to be cancelled.

Forced Evo Razor Boar hides behind the War Hog. The War Hog is very likely to die to a Wold Warden, not a super big issue as Arkadius can waffle over and the buff/debuff combo that lets Gorax' kill middling heavies.

Arkadius, Eilish, Orin and a smattering of beasts hide behind the obstruction.

Rightwise beasts just spread around, they'll come another wallop of guns. Such is life. Targ stays hiding up the back, him dying to a pot shot would cause a lot of difficulties.

Circle 2: Krueger TK's the right War Hog forward and around then backs the hell up away from this madness, camping two.

Out left, one Warden moves up and TK's the leftmsot War Hog away, letting a Wyrd shoot down the two left Razor Boars. Stupid animi.
The other Warden charges the War Hog, hits it's charge and misses an initial. For some reason I don't aggravator the 'hog around, so that's just an odd brain skip. Alas for the poor Wold, it's well and truly out of Kruegers control area and falls well short of the kill.

Right wise Megalith TK's the War Hog in, Fulcrum and Wolds shoot it up. Takes more damage than I expected, ends up Agggravating forward and engaging the Wyrd. It sat on one box, sitting pretty and menacing and stuff, when some desperate support model sprays manage to pop it. Doh. So many Heavy and Battle Engine killing dreams.

Minion 3: Alright, Kruegers delaying tactics are done now, time to feat and just clear stuff out. If I just kill all the heavies I can wait out a turn of Primal frenzies without to much concern.

Remaining heavies, two Wars and one Road Hog all get Primalled. Forced Evo goes on the Roadie as well.
Arkadius feats, models move in and get a bunch of attacks.
Battle group models gets dinged up but don't die, so I opt to say screw it and charge the Road Hog into Krueger. Ah. 7's to hit, how awkward. It's Ghostly, Forced Evo'd, Primalled, Puppet Stringed, Raw Adrenalined. I opt to make it an assault, should have just crit fished with the knockdown attack.
Krueger gets smacked up a bit anyway, ends up with no Fury, a handfull of boxes and on fire.

Attacks kill both the Wardens and Wold Wyrds plus the objective, I end on 2 CP. However Arkadius had to repo out to get his control area up and is out of Orin's anti spell range. Doh. Road Hog should have just killed Megalith and been done with it.

Circle 3: Man, I am baaaad at finishing these things off at the moment.

Ultimately Kreuger and Megs get up the board, kill the blocking models in front of Arkadius and telekinesis him around. The Fulcrum moves up to shoot hi,, however I have more transfers than it has shots and we call it.

Trickier match for Krueger than I thought, at least in the current list matchup off. Bad call with that end Road Hog activation, otherwise reasonably content.

Game 365 - Rask1 (WWfF) vs High Reclaimer1(EI) - Tas Champs Round5

Game 365 - Rask1 (WWfF) vs High Reclaimer1(EI) - Tas Champs Round5
Epic Recon

Alright, we've limped our way to the final, ye old Dingaling rocking the Menoth Judicator paint train. Oh dear, we've been here before, I dropped Arkadius, killed the Judicator and promptly got ground day.

I drop Rask, guess we'll see how this matchup pans. There's a central building that I can try to wheel around, expectation going in is that I'll have to get Brine onto the Judicator to pop it after dealing with blocking Bastions. Even with that it'll be an attrition struggle into a superior player, so the intent is to lean into lower percent plays and try to luck it up a bit. A poor prospect, ultimately though the previous game was not confidence inducing on having a skilloff.

I lost the die roll sadly, got second which is always a little awkward with Rasks feat timing. I get a defensive trench, a left side hill, there's flanking forests and Menoth gets a wall. Plus corrosive water.

Totem Hunter Preys the Exemplar Errants, as they'll be up front and are unlikely to have a backup reserve model like the other units will for Reclaimer featage. I do at least have a bunch of RFP so that concern can be ameliorated, though making Reclaimer feat is a mini-success all of its own at this point.

Leftwise Errants, Cinerators, Sevvy 9 with his Dervish and the refuses to die solo face off against Dahlia, Totem Hunter, Pot and triple Bone Swarm.

Rightwise (The building split makes central conflict a misnomer at best) Judicator with....sigh...Bastion guards and the Vengers trot up against Ninja Pig, a forward Swarm with Admonition, Wrastler and bit pieces.

Menoth ran up, I ran up and feated. This was not the best use of featage for a number of reasons, however I felt quite contrained matchup wise.
Problem being that Brine outthreats the Judicator walk and spray range by an inch, however he doesn't for the bombards and two turns of those would kill him. Feat doesn't really help me close the distance either, as a pair of Menite models can run up to be targetted by the sprays and still kill Brine or whatever is needed anyway.

Menoth 2: Churchy boys shrug at the feat and just generally shuffle around, not changing much of the table state beyond Vengers pulling back and the Bastion wall being a bit more cemented.
Hand of Fate goes on the Bastions for more retaliatory goodness. Judy is just out from Brines 16 inch threat.

Minion 2: Damnable Rask not being snowflaky and giving people knowledge/reps against.

Time to start those promised gamble plays, specifically I want to kill Sevvy 0. There's a limited number of opposing solos and he's the hardest to pop, so once he goes the Menoth flag can hopefully be made unscorable.

Out left Dahlia runs up behind the building in the centre. Skarath charges in to get his Gunfighter spray range up, kills a coouple Errants, spikes hard on teh Dervish and bounces off Sevvy. Forgot to Puppet Strings, likes a genius.
Totem Hunter charges up and kills a couple Errants, can't Sprint away due to their self sac nonsense.
Rask moves behind the building in an effort to stay away from Judicator Spray death, pops down a Veil of Mists over Dahlia which lets a Bone Swarm charge up, bounce off an errant to kill the Dervish.

Wrastler sidles up in my backfield with some support solos.

Rightish way, Admonitioned Swarm toes the right zone behind the flanking forest, Swamp Gobbers runs to my flag. Brine shuffles to be within 16 of the Judicator.

I score my flag, 1-0.

Menoth 3: Out left, Boneswarm dies to a charging Bastion and various solo attacks. Cinerators walk up to Skarath and knock out his mind. I think there was a Counterblast, damned if I remember what it did.
The errants move up a shot bit and achieve sod all.

Reclaimer backs up because he's mean. Hand of Fate on the Judicator.

Out on the right Judicator moves forward somewhat with Bastions in the way.
Dedicating someone elses song to something is weird right? It's not your song. If you did a performance of it or something then sure, otherwise all your really doing is.....I guess dedicating that you spent 3 minutes listening to something and 30 seconds typing?
Judicator lobs some shots. One goes into Brine and takes his Body Aspect off to the box. Ow. Second misses whatever it was going for.

Menites score their flag, 1-1.

Minion 3: Alrighty, this is the turn we get to throw Brine onto the Judy and kill it. Shame about the sodding Bastions out front we have to deal with, normally it wouldn't be so bad however Brine losing his Body aspect means that their defensive strikes could be just the worst.

Few different issues, largest one being that Rask wants to be everywhere. Brine needs to be Furyed and Boundless Charged, Bastions and left flank need to be sorted.

Out on the left we keep chasing the same Dragon Icarus style. Skarath gets his Mind back, ghostly from the Witch Doc, moves back and....tries to spray Sevvy to death again. Hmmmm. Yeah, didn't work that time either, though is on one box and corroded.
Solo on the flag needs to die, so the Cauldron pots a shot, drags him through the flag to just be shy of touching it. Sadly it's the goes disable instead of dying fella, later in teh turn I blip and use a Bonesarm to kill a Cinerator and heal him. Doh.

Out on the right, Alten and the Pot fail to deal with a Bastion. I'd hoped to drag a fella forward to make a gap and alas roll the 1, though I needed a pretty high number on the drag anyway.
Rask shuffles back and to Judicator spray vulnerability zone, as both the Wrastler and Bone Shrine are placed juuuuust so in their arcs that he can't safely put stuff on Brine. I also wanted to Boundless the Wrastler to go in and clear Bastions and instead buff everything onto Brine.

Sigh. Was playing a lot better than the previous game, low bar though that be, in hindsight still making a lot of unforced errors.

Time to go for broke, Brine gets smoked forward with a healed Body, charges Judicator with Boundless/Fury/Rage, takes a defensive strike. Alas the hopes for a low damage roll fail and the Mind and Body go out.

Big Piggy makes a go of it with teh single die to hit and damage, does about three quarters of its health or so.

I at least clear my own flag, so 2-1.

Menoth 4: Out left, Skarath finally dies. Sevvy0 walks around, screws up nuking Dahlia.

Out right Brine is easily killed by the Bastions, the Judicator shoots the Wrastler down to a handful of boxes.

Up to Round 7: The game carries on, ultimately though I've no longer got enough pieces to fight on an attrition level, clock is under control for both sides and Reclaimer stays way back and safe.

The Menite solos all day to various attacks, the Judicator actually dies to a charging Rorsh after a Bone Swarm tries and fails. Bizarrely Dahlia survives the entire way, preventing the scenario loss by contesting the Menoth flag and even running up to score when the Menites push forward n the final turns. Rask somehow gets misses several times by both Errant shots and Cinerator attacks. We get to end of round 7 and Menites easily chalk the win by being p a couple Control Points.

Biggest in game failure was the use of Skarath, Cinerators lacking Shield Guard should have just been killed.
Wonder a lot if the Bone Shrine should have been up behind the right forest, if Brine runs up their he can protect it and threaten the Judicator with terrain safety.
Lot of other smaller problems, such as wasting Totem Hunter and so forth. Probably should have also had both Cauldron on the right to try to pull apart the Bastions more.

Anyway, that happened. Like Show Dogs.

Game 364 - Rask1 (WWfF) vs Kallus1(PT) - Tas Champs Round4 - THE FAIL GAME

Game 364 - Rask1 (WWfF) vs Kallus1(PT) - Tas Champs Round4 - THE FAIL GAME
Standoff

Oh boy. Thank god this game wasn't recorded. Need to summon some excuses.

Errrr......It was the opening game of the second day, so we both had opening game jitters. I drank a loooooooot the night before. The world sure is a terrible place, it's almost suitable to keep Steven Seagal in it. I watched Disenchantment and still felt let down about it being super average. Boney M's Rasputin was playing super loud on my internal CIA scamming radio transmitter and I had to dance ala living in Little Russian every 1.23 minutes.

Alright, point being this was a game both my opponent and I played really badly. I'll point out every noteworthy error with a note reminiscent of THE CLAW.
Which, after a solid 8 minutes of google-fu, is no longer a reference that exists. Damnable niche hobbies.

Alright, lets have some red text to point out when something bad happened.
Like Future World. Do not watch. Will never get that time back.

Anyway, its Primal Terrors, Kallus1 and some weird permutation with Thagrosh2. The previous three rounds had all been Kallus dropping, so it wasn't exactly a shock when captain Incubi popped down. Rask, you're up.

I win the roll, first or not is a bit more of a serious consideration when i play against Primal Terrors, as terrain usually has such a strong effect on Hellmouth placement.
The layout of the table made me opt for first, as they had strong placement options for either side, which is still a good thing as it becomes very predictable.

I get defensive rubble in my rectangle zone, water on my left and a wall to the right.
Both flanking zones have an average size obstruction, there's a slightly Legion side leaning central forest and theirs some backfield Legion terrain bits that don't matter.

Go in, early matchup plays is for me to neutralise the Hellmouths. Kallus will move up and feat, so the vague theory in my head was killing the front rank of Ogrun then using Skarath's additional to hit die spray to pop the spawned Incubi. Very important to keep Ammok 10 inches away from Dahlia so haunting Melody doesn't get popped off.

Minion 1: Sure enough, one Hellmouth is behind the central forest and another goes out behind the right side building.
The central Hellmouth is Preyed, not expecting the Totem Hunter to do anything there so much as that Hellmouth is high on the kill priority list so Prey can shuffle about as needed.

Dahlia runs out left, planning to hide behind that building and Haunting melody up the opposing block of Ogrun. A Gobber Chef also goes as a backup contestor or potential Skarath Fury management.

Centrally two Boneswarms both get a pair of corpses from the Pots, one gets Admonition, another Fury, they move up within walking distance of the central Maw (Forest blocks Line of sight).
Nearly everything else fans out behind them.

Out right Rorsh and Brine go a hard flank, they should be easily able to pop that sides Maw given how the positioning has worked out.

Heraderp 1: Just straight up didn't deploy Eilish. We have no need of Sherlock today thanks.

Legion 1: Everything runs up, leaning to the left of the board. Kallus pops Ignite on Rotteneyes Ogrun unit. Strength Aura up.
Hellmouth tentacles fold up around the Maws to try to protect them, Chosen get up into the forest. One of them triggers Admonition, which is just a swarm repositioning slightly to ensire it can get upto the Maw.

Minion 2: We're okay at the moment. Ships still sailing. No StevenSeagall garbage in sight.
Allrighty, lets kill some Hellmouths.

Out left, Dahlia and Skarath chill in the left zone, Snek has Counterblast up and is positioned to be in Rasks control area. Dahlia has Haunting Melody up and is so far from Ammok it doesn't bear checking (He's lugging his rock on the other side of the forest/Blightbringer).

Centrally, Alten aims to put Grievous Wounds on the forward Chosen to free up the Maw kill. He misses the Chosen, thankfully his incompetence continues and he also misses the Bone Swarm on what could have been tragedy.
Instead one of the Bone Swarms swivels around and maxes Fury to kill the singel infantry model. Yay.
Totem Hunter charges in, kills a Tentacle and sprint back, this feeds a corpse to the left pot who Puppet Strings the other forward 'swarm and maxes its Corpses.
Said Boneswarm gets Raged and Furyed up as Rask feats, it walks up into the woods, pops a tentacle and easily kills the Maw.
Yet another Boneswarm sits in teh rubble with Admo, only thinking there being to move and block attempts on my objective.

Out right Rorsh and Brine easily kill the Hellmouth on that side and shelter behind the obstruction.

The Swamp Gobbers, who in the matchup only really exist to contest and score zones, have run out to the left backfield where they literally have nothing to do, even as it's transparent that I can clear off the right zone with comparitive ease.

Legion 2: Kallus feats and stuff runs up at me.
Halfway through we find out that Kallus didn't leech and the Blightbringer frenzies, killing an Ogrun.
Kallus hits the forward Bone Swarm a few times, doesn't kill it. The back unit of Carrion flying dudes (Aka cheap Incubi carriers, a different form of the bird flu) try to go in, however they are further than 5" and Rasks feat kicks in.

Skarath gets engaged, does a spray with minimal effect. The Chosen smash apart on of the forward Bone Swarms. Stuff toes up in my rectangle, though nothing goes for the objective.
warchief moves up and contests the right zone.

Legion score their rectangle, 0-1.

Minion 3: That....sure is stuff in my face. It was a great moment to realise the Skarath spray down plan was thoroughly inadequate, so i guess it's try to clear out my rectangle and right zone? Plus Rotteneye and stuff? Yeah.
If you choose to forget Vengeance theres nothing wrong with pnking both Ogrun units! You go Grrrrll!

Leftwise, Dahlia drops all her fury because I've definitely thought of all the angles here. Skarath tries a spray, puts Rotteneye on one box and throws up Counterblast.
Swamp Gobber runs onto the Legion side of the board. For Science.
Totem Hunters run to my back left so that he doesn't randomly pop.

In my rectangle Boneswarms create some Incubi out of Ogrun, I have no discernible reason for this.
Rask falls back and puts up a Veil of Mists, super concerned about the flying unit of dudes just running up to him in a mob, from which I'm pretty boned. Need to play a caster that can take a punch again at some point.

Right zone has a Spell Martyr and Warchief contesting. I screw up my order of attacks with Ninja Pig, Alten and the Cauldron so an Incubi is left contesting.
Given I failed to have a unit that could move in to score it I'm going to pretend this was okay, that screaming is perfectly normal as is the gentle whipping with perfumed shoe laces.
At least I did get a Bone Swarm to toe the Legion rectangle. Also got a punch on Ammok, sadly left the sodding shoulder boulderer on one box.

No scores this turn.

Legion 3:  Vengeance moves get forgotten.
Corrosion fails to kill Rotteneye. Grumble.

Leftwise there's a Warchief, he runs to the legion side of the obstruction. This is to get Dahlia in blast range for a Blight Bringer shot, which goes off without much of a hitch. Needs a 9 to kill Dahlia, boosts the damage. Snake Eyes and a 2.
Haunting Melody sticking around means the ogrun have to walk up to Skarath, at some point he counterblasts to eat one of the Ogrun. He gets knocked down to about half health.
Three of the flying small based dudes come in to try to finish Snek off, leave it with a handful of boxes.

The Boneswarm up in the forest finally gets killed, Chosen and more flying bird things go into my rectangle where they bounce around and don't achieve much, leaving the Boneswarms damaged but surprisingly alive.

Ammok and a charging Incubi kill the Bone Swarm contesting the Legion rectangle. Not nice at all.

Legion score their rectangle, now 0-2.

Minion 4: It's looking grim. Attrition is right out after Kallus' feat turn, 5 CP are also not happening. Only thing I've got going for me is a clock win, I've got 15 minutes left to.....24. Alright. Just got to stick it out, still got Dahlia much as the Snake is about to pop. Need to score some points on the right zone and somehow not get Rask killed.

We screw up our Fury management, so the Wrastler frenzies and kills the right Spirit Cauldron.

On the glorious Zoya side, Dahlia runs into the centre of the zone The Swamp Gobber charges a Warchief in the back, cranks the damage and outright kills him. Noms.

Rask shuffles back with a Veil of Mists to keep safe. In my mind.
Okay, fine,  I see the Blightbringer is maxxed out on Fury and decide I can bin the time plan and just win on assassination, Kallus is just toeing the centre forest.
Rask moves up and pops a Veil of Miss down on some Ogrun. A Bone Swarm gets Raged/Fured/Boundless Charged/Ghostlied/Puppet Stringed.

Skarath Sprays to kill a flying dude so the 'swarm gets line of sight to Kallus.

Said 'swarm charges Kallus. Turns out....Blightbringers are Fury 5. Not 4. It's not maxxed out, even if it was its still a low odds play.
So the Boneswarm charges in and bounces hard, maxing Fury to achieve not much.

I clear out the sole contesting Incubi on the right and Overtake Brine to contest the Legion zone.
1-2 as i score the right the Cauldron Handler.

Rask is flapping out in the breeze on no camp. My initial plan was to run him away into the right zone, if only I had.

[img]https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMKx4V33M498gD4sA_s7YfMlto1Yhf7mrXPNQcQuLQfFSXf8iJCgpXeVTDJcdKv_OcYO_DIMpLcCT7IjLvPdyjo8takwD7nQV-N2zL822gYyUp8722q4cbqQZPtT_S_vmGLA3WIVFaZVgH/s1600/230+%2528800x451%2529.jpg
Legion 4: Three Ogrun vengeance forward and can charge Rask if Dahlia dies.

Some bit activations first, Flying Carrios dudes are mostly out of command and can't do much. Chosen do some swinging, dinging up Bone Swarms and engaging Brine.

Blightbringer wants to shoot Dahlia down to allow the charge, shuffles a bit, goes within 8 inches of her and can't shoot,  so for something to do smacks the Boneswarm on Kallus. Kills it with ease. Rask gains three transfers.

Sounds about right for this non-Crucible Guard Thomas the Tank Engine dead in an abandoned theme park game.
Legion have burnt to much clock at this point as well, so Rotteneye pops No Quarter and they charge Rask anyway, net result being they nearly kill the Wrastler via transfers and I win on clock.

Honestly I kind've love this game, it was such a clusterfuck. Solid semi-final material. Ayep.
I was also wring prior, I thought every Rask game went to round 7. This one just felt like it at the time.
