Game 301 - Durgen vs eHaley

I am now the fine possessor of some Gun Bunnies courtesy of "I own to many, take them away!" Rob. Who also purchased my Durgen for me. I'd dub this Rob's list on that basis, but I'm fairly sure he's happier associating with lists with Earthbreakers for Durgen.

Hades returns! (I wanted to amalgamate Haidon and Surt to make obscure apocalyptic references to Ragnarok and me not being one of the pair of humans in Yggdrasil, but it came out as "Hurt" which doesn't really come across as a name. Assume there's a not-really-clever naming pun or something that the signals to those aware of its significance that I got totally crushed apocalypse style).

eHaley Stormnouners Tier 4 - Stormwall, 2x Battle Engine, Thornadon, mini Black 13th Mages, 2x Storm Towers, 3x Storm Callers

Still rocking my Durgen, this is my second ever game against Haley 2 so I was quite curious about how it'd go.

Durgen (Highborn) - Earthbreaker, Gun Mages + Dude, Press Gangers (Max), Nyss, eEiryss, Thor, Tinker, Dougal, Reinholdt, Aiyanna + Holt
Objective: Effigy of Valor

Cygnar Deploy: Lost the die roll, Cygnar picked first.
Proxis: Thorn and the right most Stormcaller are blank bases.

Merc Deploy: I picked this side for the dandy Linear. That green boomerang to the left is a forest. I think I picked the right side, but I needed to deploy very differently with a more complete game plan from the get go to do well, which I'll cover at the end.

Cygnar 1: When swans advance! Note the base near the right forest which is our proxy storm caller. Thorn in somewhere behind the Stormwall, as is Haley who casts Decel.

Merc 1: Press Gangers, go forth to your deaths!

Dougal mini-feats, uses Artillerist on the Galleon. Gastonne advances forward a tiny bit and casts Fire Group. Reinholdt Reloads Durgen.

Holt is in range of the Stormwall, but Durgen and the Bunnies are half an inch out. The Galleon pings the Stormwall for not much, then does a shot on the Black 13th, scatters and kills one them.

Cygnar 2: Stormwall goes forward, throws down a pod, then pings off about a third of the Galleons health. The various Stormcallers/towers go, somehow the dice fail half of the triangulation attacks, but the Smurfs/Commies still disappear into a vapour, like a cowboy that rides into the Burning Orb.

Right Storm Engine thingywhatsit kills the right most Gun Bunny, leaps into Aiyanna and puts her on one health. Left Storm Engine moves up to create the Huge Base Bunker for Haley, pings the Galleon for about ten more damage, knocks Dougal down to 1 wound, kills Reinholdt and does two points to Rockbottom.

Haley moves into her bunker, does Deflection and feats on loads of stuff.

Merc 2: The Positive of eHaley is that after your opening turn of movement your clock advantage will sky rocket.

The Press Gangers limp forward. Galleon pew pews the Stormwall for not much. Aiyanna falls back, Holt does a magnificent display of equalling the Storm Walls armour. Durgen camps, walks to the back of the Linear behind the Gun Bunnies to not get charged by the Stormwall. Gun Bunnies play is the sun.

Non-feated stuff: Grogpsar moves up, shoots, does not score. Rockbottom runs as fast his stump leg will let him. Gastonne goes somewhere the camera won't see behind the Galleon. Dougal falls back.

Cygnar 3: Storm Wall gets fully loaded. Left Battle Engine pops the Smurfs in front of the Cygnar Colossal. Storm Wall goes into the Galleon, kills it with it's last attack. The Commies get whittled down by Storm Callers/Towers down to a single munchkin who starts legging it. Right Battle Engine takes out the Movement and Cortex of one of the remaining pair of Bunnies.

Merc 3: Gastonne legs it to the left, Gun Bunnies run into the back arc of the Storm Wall, Durgen stumbles forward and kills another of the Black 13th and a Storm Caller with a shot. Rockbottom charges (That is one of the sadder sentences I've written here...) and kills the Lightning pod. Aiyanna harms the Storm Wall for giggles (It had 39 health at this point), Holt goes in and somehow does damage with his gun blades but not his guns... Grogspar charges Thorn, misses. The last Commie walks to the right and rallies, Eiryss moves up the right side for the Board for reasons.

Cygnar 4: Storm Wall turns around, punches both Gun Bunnies to death, Storm Pod kills Aiyana. Thorn kills Grogspar, Right Engine walks to my flag, pops Rockbottom and Dougal. Left Battle Engine moves to block LoS, Haley goes to her flag with zero camp and Deflection up. Left Storm Caller

Cygnar go to 2 CP.

Merc 4: Durgen over a couple inches to not engage Storm Wall and have Arcing Fire LoS to Haley. Feats. I lament the sadness of Durgen feating in turn 4.
Carpet Bomb shot at Haley, fully boosted, four dice needing a 12.

I rolled an 11.

Opening scatter bounces two inches behind Haley. Two more scatter from there both go and hit the fountain behind Haley. Durgen, unable to hide his secret wish to be exterior decorator, foolishly expressed his feeling about the Fountains anti-dwarf design at an inopportune moment.

One blast roll on Haley, fully Boosted on feat, so POW 7 with four dice.

Max Damage will kill her.

First dice roll is....

....a 6.

Second dice roll is....

..........a 6.

Third dice roll is....

....................a 6.

Fourth dice roll is.....

..................

..................

..................

..................

......a 4.

Bugger. Who knew that 1.4% assassinations were bad odds?

Gastone takes a Free Strike to try to get to Haley's flag (If not for that last minute Stormcaller move he could have walked forward, Fire Grouped and done a single fully boosted shot into Haley).

Eiryss continues acting like she isn't employed.

The last Commie runs and just gets to the Friendly flag contesting range.

Cygnar go to 3 CP.

Cygnar 5: Storm Engine blows up the Commie, Cygnar got to 5 CP.

Me on the left.

Well, that didn't go great. I think the better plan (Besides having a specific plan vs my normal general one) is for Durgen to toe the left corner of the Killbox, hiding in the forest but in a position to always shoots at the opposing Flag if Haley sits there. Galleon has to be next to him to block the Storm Wall getting the Top of 2 charge into him. I worked out what might be a better Press Ganger formation for leaps, but that is very specific to this lightning heavy list. Eiryss has to be expended at the right time to stop allocation to the Stormwall, giving time for the various boosted shots to kill it.

That said, I think that's produces a better game, not a different result. That centre forest just.....eugh. Decel hurts the shooting curb a lot, I think I'll see if Andrew is happy for a rematch with my other list so I can see how it goes, though at this point I don't think I have a great anti e-Haley option. I'd MacBain! into it, but I just don't see much Cygnar in Canberra outside of when Hadeimon is not Skorneing.

Game 300 - Durgen vs Gorten

Limping into round 2, it's Davinomicon, who also rolls ye old Mercs across the table. Let's see now, what's being paid to fight us today...

Gorten - Earthbreaker, Driller, Thor, 2x Eliminators, Kayazy Assassins + UA, Gorman, Ragman, Piper, Orin, Rockbottom, Devil's Shadow Mutineers
Objective: Effigy

Balls. Solid Ground does a lot to counter my feat, but I can hold Durgen back until Gorten moves to try to feat on my army, then Durgen and Bunnies can shoot him to death, so long as there isn't any terrain to help him out. Then I see....

The Trenches I finally got around to completing last week on the table. Why did I bring Trenches AND Durgen?! I would have been one of the lamer Superman's, who did dumb stuff like carry a briefcase of Kryptonite around. At least I wouldn't be in the bearded version in that gritty comic reboot that has to fight the clone twins of Adolf Hitler with mini-guns.

Ah, Two Fronts. Killbox scenario. Hanging back isn't going to work.

Davinoff won the dice roll, picked first. This was a necessity for me, I got to pick the side with the Trenches and not constricted by the large forest in front of the other deployment.

Gorts Deploy: Thor is behind the Earthbreaker, forest forces the list to break down into three parts. Gorten and the Colossal take the middle, the left will be most of the Kayazy, Orin and Piper. Right side will be the Driller, Ragman, Gorman, the Mutineers and one Eliminator unit.

Durgs Deploy: Possibly listening to Oz Machine has given me an inflated fear of the Mutineers, but I counter deployed with the idea of denying Blood Boon and trying to kill them off early.

Same Proxies as last time (2x Blasters/Renegade = 3x Grundback Dunners)

Gort 1: The Four Star Syndicate come forth! Gorten throws up Solid Ground and starts slugging through the forest, both lots of Elimiantors go out ahead of the main pack and start asking for Gastonne's address.

That is a worse pic than normal....

Durg 1: Two each on Gastonne/Galleon, two of the Gunners are blessed with a focus, the last one is shunned.

Prepisode of Merc turns activates! Reinholdt moves up to Durgen, uses Spyglass to confirm that the centre Mutineer is 21.5 away from the Galleon. Dougal puts Artillerist on the Colossal and mini-feats. Durgen puts Primed on the Blue Press Gangers, walks up, puts Explosivo the Gun Bunnies with a focus. Gastonne moves over a little, casts Fire Group.

Blue Press Gang fans out to get out of the way, the Galleon then walks up and rolls shots, he manages to pop the front two Mutineers but the Sabre one rocks out at the back, an Eliminator also goes down on the right side. The Explosivo Gun Bunnies move up but fail at taking out the remaining right Eliminator.

Red Gang run out to the left and populate the forward most Trench. Grogspar and Rockbottom hide behind the Linear.

Gort 2: The Earthbreaker moves up, throws out some rough terrain and pops three of the Blue Gang, Gorten walks up next to him and throws out Strength of Granite on the Rhulic death machine.

On the right zone, Gorten, Ragman and Rockbottom hang at the back of the zone, a cloud blocking LoS to Raggy. The remaining Mutineer moves up behind the Objective, the Eliminator stabs a Bluey, sidestepping back to avoid the potential explosion, which he toughs anyway. The Driller runs up.

Piper puts pathfinder on the Assassins, the Eliminators go in and kill the Lass, the regular Kayazy charge up and leave the Reds at half strength.

Durg 2: Prime sticks around, Galleon gets fully loaded, two of the Gunners get one focus each. The Blues run to get out of the way, go into both zones and one brave stupid soul stands in front of the opposing colossal, the one attack on an Eliminator completely misses.

Durgster puts Artillerist on the Galleon, Aiyanna and Holt move up and Harm the Driller. Galleon moves up, rolls low amount of shots, drags the Driller in. He arrives at such an angle that shots on the last Mutineer aren't viable, so he burns all his junk to kill the Driller without to much trouble.

The Gunners combine to ping the Objective for a bit and miss the last Mutineer, Durgen fails to roll very high on his own shots and only wings her for a bit.

Left side, Rockbottom boosts the Red attack rolls. Grogspar move up, shoots his gun point blank to kill an Eliminator, the other member of the unit fails their command check. The Reds go in and pop a few of the Assassins.

Gort 3: Solid/Strength upkept.

On the left, the Eliminator retreats to the left and fails to rally. The Assassins get stuck into the Reds, leaving them two members strong who make the foolish decision to not run away, Grogspar also gets hit down to three boxes. Orin walks up, toes the left zone, zaps the Objective and the two Blues in the zone to death.

Thor shines up the Earthbreaker, it's shoddy short term memory learns how to boost damage temporarily. It then kills my Objective and the suicide Blue in front of it.

On the right, the Eliminator stabs a Blue then sidesteps to engage a Gunner. Rockbottom puts tough on the Mutineer, who moves into two of the Blues in the Zone, uses Swashbuckler, knocking one down and missing the other. Gorman walks up and throws the Green Acid sticky stuff onto the Mutineer, killing her and forcing both Blues to tough. Raggy walks up and misses the Smurf lass with a Boneshaker.

Blue/Red bore me now, for this Batrep from here on they'll be Smurf/Commie.

Gort goes to 2 CP.

Durg 3: Smurf Bagman dies to Corrosion, two members of the village remain. Galleon gets fully loaded, Primed dropped, two of the Gunners get focus.

Durgen puts Explosivo on two of the Gunners, one crawls a short way and blows up the Eliminator at near point blank range. Durgen kills the Objective and Gorman, the Gun Bunnies kill Rockbottom. Smurfette seduces Ragman has him walk into no mans land and show her his back as a trust exercise.

Rockbottom moves up, gives boosted attack rolls to the Comies. Last pair of Commies nut punch an Assassin, Grogspar flails at hits the empty air.

Galleon crosses to the left zone, rolls up enough shots and boosts to hit to kill Orin, Piper and Ragman.

Aiyanna falls back, Holt sits in a Wreck Marker.

Durg goes to 2 CP.

Gort 4: Pic missed, bugger. Granite gets dropped, Assassins kill another Commie and Grogspar (One Commie left), Earthbreaker toes the right zone and kills a Smurf (Only Smurfette remains) plus one Gun Bunny. Eliminator on the extreme left rallies, Gorten plonks a wall down in front of him.

Durg 4: My clock is running down precipitously, the difference in times is at least twenty minutes. Galleon gets fully loaded. Durgen gives one focus to a Bunny.

Aiyanna and Holt camp in the wreckage of the Driller, do a Harm on the Rhulic Colossal. Bunnies move into the right zone, ping the Earthbreaker for not much.

Galleon moves up, shoots down all but one of the Kayazy and knocks down the last Commie. The Assassin fails his command check. Gastonne cowers eight inches behind his big boy toy. Eiryss sprints forward to bomb the Earthbreaker.

Durgen runs to the left, barely edging into the Killbox.

Gort 5: No upkeeps kept. Gorten moves over, feats for one inch to the right board edge, gets Eiryss, the Lass and one of the Bunnies. He then shoots Eiryss dead and drops a wall in front of himself. Earthbreaker kills another bunny. Assassin rallies.

Durg 5: Rockbottom aims, kills the last Assassin. The Commie stands and blindly marches to where the out of pic Eliminator is. Galleon walks up, fails at doing much to Gorten. Durgen toes the left zone. Reinholdt runs to toe the right zone, Aiyanna/Holt/Gun Bunny do little to the Earthbreaker.

Durgen goes to 3 CP.

Gort 6: Gorten shuffles, puts down a Rockwall to stop the Galleon charging or Harpooning, shoots Galleon fora  bit. The Earthbreaker trundles forward but fails to scatter onto Gastonne and is just out of range of Durgen. Thor actually gets into the photos. The Eliminator runs to tow into the left zone, but is missed in the picture.

Durg 6: Rockbottom moves up and misses the Eliminators. Dougal puts Artillerist on the Galleon. The Bunny misses Thor. Reinholdt toes a Gun Bunny Wreck and stays int eh right zone. Aiyanna harms Thor, Holt kills him. The Galleon walks back (At the time I said forward for...um....reasons...) to shield Durgen, kills the Eliminator.

Durg goes to 4 CP.

Gort 7: No Pic, Gorten tries an eruption that fails to kill Aiyanna or Holt, the Earthbreaker is out of charge range of the Galleon and I get to 5 CP.

My time on the left.

Definitely felt the time pressure on this one, in the last few turns I started going all monotone and measuring sloppily, so I'm not happy about that.

More important than that Dave seemed to not be enjoying his difficult situation at the end, so that's not what I want.

Moving on, that's a Slam down and, because I'm the sort of weirdo that tracks this junk, my 300th game in mark 2.

Durgen/Gunbunny/Gastonne/Galleon is awesome, I already vastly prefer playing this list over the conventional one I was using before.

Game 299 - Durgen vs Issyria

Slammerbowl number who knows is over!

Eight person Slams are great, we should do more of them. I will dub this event Ret-slam, turn out being four Ret, two Merc, one Cygnar and one Khador. The elf warpath is apparently very real.

Rockin my new Durgen build, which would...um.....be allright going into Khador? Blergh.

Durgen (Highborn) - 3x Gunners, Gastonne + Galleon, eEiryss, Dougal, Reinholdt, Rockbottom, Grogspar, Aiyanna and Holt, 2x Press Gangers
Objective: Effigy

It's not that I'm crutching on Press Gangers so much as they are my wheelchair I couldn't live without at the moment. Originally the infantry load was bouncing between Boomhowlers and Nyss, but eh Advance Deploying just makes the early turn unpacking so much easier (aka I continue to be destined to shun Trolls as a faction of interest).

Round 1, Fight!

Russosaur, on the pointy eared half of the Slam attendees. I've given up trying to guess what faction he'll pop out with, he keeps changing it on me.

Issyria Danbrigers Tier 4 - Hyperion, Phoenix, 2x Arcanist, 2x Invictors + Soulless Escort + Officer/Standard, Houseguard Thane, 2x Arcanists
Objective: Effigy

So...Signs and Portents on the opening die roll is a thing. A terrible, miserable thing. I got given first, I think because one side had a slightly better Linear Obstacle placement then the other.

Merc Deploy: Durgen is hiding underneath the Galleons right arm.The white die is Rockbottom's coins, though I'll swamp those to 5 cent coins when I get the chance.

Proxies: Two Blasters/Renegade = Three Gunners

Ret Deploy: That sure is some Elfy stuff.

Proxes:
* eEiryss = Issyria
* Mittens? = Arcanists.

To be honest Retribution is a slightly closed door to me outside of the Rahn/Kaelyssa stuff I'm used to, so there may be proxies I just don't recognise.

Merc 1: Everything runs up, the Red unit that goes out to the left and further forward gets Primed, the Blue guys hide behind the forest to be the smucks in turn 2 when all the Red guys are dead.

Eiryss cowers, I'll want her to knock off the armour buff off the colossal. Fort Gunner is prepped for the first time.

Gastonne is so far back he is out of the pic, which is how it should be.

Ret 1: Hyperion stumbles up, pops a few of the Red Gangers, fails to get the crit. Left Invictors mini-feat, advance and wreck Red Ganger face, by the end they have a pair of members left and I have a foreboding feeling about how the tough die are going.

Issyria moves behind the wall, puts Inviolable Resolve on the Hyperion.

The Phoenix tries to navigate past the Hyperion and Invictors, we determine he has the space to move through the gap. Russ then has the epiphany that Issyria is the the way and he can't move there anyway, so he sidles up to tthe wall and whispers words generally trading between unloving spouses with sever dependency issues (i.e "I love you for you, the fact you stop the Galleon Harpoon Drag is just a fortunate coincidence. Don't glare at me like that baby, your mortar is looking fantastic today, did you use a new limewash?").

The right Invictors run forward, getting into the zone. The Thane realises he is just a tier requirement, his lip wobbles and he decides to end it all by running around the forest to get to the Blue Press Gangers, but he falls short of engaging.

Merc 2: Primed on two models doesn't fill me with confidence, I let it drop. Galleon/Gastonne have two each, Durgen puts one on two of the Gunners and keeps four.

Buff montage: Gastonne moves up a little, casts Firegroup, Dougal puts Artillerist on the Galleon and mini-feats, Reinholdt Reloads Durgen,  Aiyanna and Holt pout that it is not their time to shine and go Stealthy like.

The Renegade (Centre Gunner, no focus) stumbles forward and shoots down an Invictor. Durgen puts Primed on the Blue Gangers, Explosivo on the two Gunners yet to activate, walks forward, feats and Carpet Bombs the right Invictor unit, killing five or so.

Galleon walks forward and wrecks face on the Left Invictor unit, killing most of them, doing four points to Issyria randomly and lightly dusting the Phoenix' force field. The remaining Gunners and Grogspar walk up and throw their AoE's out, but don't achieve much as Galleon/Durgen already did the work on the stuff in range.

Grogspar has an AoE gun, and I love it. I'd crash his car into a bridge, because I don't care.

Red Press Gangers, both of them, run into no man's land wishing the Galleon shots left smoke clouds. Right Press Gangers spread out in the right zone and kill the Thane. Eiryss walks up a little bit, stays behind the forest.

Rockbottom chuckles at getting to keep his coins because of the Effigy fearlessness.

Ret 2: Issyria drops Inviolable Resolve, fuels up the Hyperion. Curses her lack of armour, attacks, Steady or pathfinder, because sometimes you float just for style.

Issyria feats then uses an Ancillary attack and the Phoenix shoots to clear Blue Press Gangers out of the top edge of the zone, Primed does seven points to the Objective. Left Invictors kill the Bagman in the Red Unit, the Lass is on her own and desperately wants to run away. Right Invictors mini feat, advance, two CRA and miss Eiryss, the rest clear out a couple more Blue Press Gangers, four remain, bisected by a big load of trees.

Hyperion advances, shoots at Durgens Gunner fort. Durgen gains a focus, the Renegade Gunner dies, the centre Blaster/Gunner loses his Cortex, Grogspar takes a damage point as does my Objective.

I made a stat error here, I thought Grogspar's armour was much higher, he should have taken another three points of damage, thankfully this doesn't really affect the game play.

Obvious game play error with Eiryss positioning, should have had her hiding right behind the forest to stop the Invictors or Hyperion getting a line on her, I'll confess I forgot that Issyria's feat bypassed Stealth.

Merc 3: Galleon gets a full load, remaining undamaged Gunner a focus. Aiyanna/Holt move up, , Aiyanna camps out in the dead Gunner Wreck Marker.

Harm lands on the Hyperion, Issyria Arcane Vortexes it away, Holt pew pews the Hyperion.

Galleon charges the Hyperion, initial charge misses because for reasons that confound me that blasted Elf Colossal is defence 10. What is this Madness? Rest of the attacks hit, do damage but take no systems out.

Dougal, Reloaded Durgen, Gunners, Blue Press Gangers and Grogspar try to finish off the Hyperion and fail, though they take out the right side. Hyperion has about a ten or so boxes.

Eiryss pings an Invictor as the only target she can see.

Red Lass rallies.

Ret 3: Phoenix and Hyperion both get fully loaded. Left Arcanist buffs the Phoenix' Strength, right one repairs the Hyperion damaged arm. Left Invictors go into the Blue Press Ganger on the left side of the Galleon, triggering Prime which kills two of them.

Phoenix goes into the Galleon, takes out the Left side and a bit, Hyperion activates and crumpes the Galleon like a soda can. Remaining right Invictors advance, CRA to take out the Head on the damaged Gunner (Movement only remaining system).

Merc 4: Undamaged Gunner gets a focus, Prime upkept.

Lass walks over, Seduces the Invictor to go to the Phoenix and miss.

Damaged Gunner trundles up to the Wreck Marker of the Galleon, hits the Invictor but fails to kill.

Aiyanna goes for the harm, Arcane Vortex happens again, Holt shoots the colossal for a few points. Grogspar and Gastonne ping the Hyperion for a little. 100% Gunner shuffles over, hits Hyperion for a good amount, leaving it on three boxes, Blue Press Gangers go in and put it don one box. Eiryss saunters into the forest and snipes the Hyperion dead.

Reloaded Durgen takes a step into the zone, Case Crackers the Objective dead, shoots the Invictors in the zone with a Reload but only kills one and hurts the Officer for a few points.

Mercs go to 1 CP.

Ret 4: Phoenix gets some focus. Invictor moves to the lass, swings and misses. Arcanist runs and sits near the left flag.

Phoenix moves into the zone, uses powers of flaming to kill the second last Blue Press Ganger, buys attacks on the damaged Gunner and misses each one. Issyria moves into the zone on the Hyperion wreck marker, Ancillary attack on the Phoenix kills the damaged Gun Bunny.

Remaining pair of Invictors in the right squad move forward a little, shoot and kill Grogspar.

Run out of wreck markers due to providing flags on another table, so the Gun Bunny model stays for a moment.

Merc 5: The Lass seduces the last left Invictor, who walks over and stabs the Arcanist to death. Aiyanna Harms the Phoenix, gets Vortexed, Holt kill the left Invictor. Dougal puts Artillerist on Durgen.

Rockbottom, the last Gun Bunny, Reloaded Durgen and Gastonne all shoot the Phoenix, leave it with three boxes. Eiryss walks up, kills the Standard on the right Invictor unit, the lone officer left fails his command check. Durgen has also walked back away from the Phoenix melee range in the process.

Ret 5: The last Arcanist repairs the Phoenix' arm. The last Invictor rallies. Issyria puts blinding light on Aiyanna and Holt. The Phoenix walks up, does its Flaming Mardi Gras wriggle, kills Eiryss, hurts and sets Rockbottom on fire, lightly grazes the Gun Bunny and sets it on fire.

The dead Gun Bunny is swapped with the right flag, because that isn't coming up.

Merc 6: Fire kills Rockbottom. Durgen walks back into the zone, kills the Phoenix with a shot. Gastonne walks up and kills the last Invictor. The Lass runs to Issyria.

Mercs go to 3 CP, Russo concedes.

Mercs on the left.

Gah, why are my games getting so long (Outside of Top of 2 Scaverous deaths)?

Game 297/8 - Durgen vs Scaverous (Twice)

No ones reading here right? You know this is the draft spot? Your meant to be on Wargamer AU for the slightly improved version...

Well, here's that Cryx test for the revised Durgen list!

Durgen - Earthbreaker, Gun Mages + Dude, Press Gangers (Max), Nyss, eEiryss, Thor, Tinker, Dougal, Reinholdt, Aiyanna + Holt
Objective: Effigy of Valor

Steelheads have been kicked to the curb, Press Gangers are in! Take that Milan!

Scaverous Theme - Deathjack, Deathripper, Withershadow Combine, 2x Necrosurgeon + Stitchthralls, 2x Mechanithralls, Darryl Wrathe, Iron Lich Overseer + Helldiver, Skarlock, Pistol Wrathe, 2x Warwitch Sirens

Kieranos  of Cryx land wins the die roll. I think. I don't remember that bit to well. I ended up with second, choosing the side that possessed less problems for me forest wise (I would describe this table as Circle friendly and Menoth mean).

Here, in alternate colour, are the adventures of the mighty battle clock!

Sleek. Red. Fresh. A newborn clock is spawned into the LGS, freed from its Bubble Wrap cocoon. It's ambitions are young, its status unproven. It could be the greatest chess clock in the world.

Instead it is put in the hands of a bumbling idiot who after five minutes screwing around finally sets it to a one hour clock.

Cryx Deploy: Potato pic! I did have a 2 minute go at fixing the overexposure, most of the photos are better, will need to look into that more. The potato ain't being replaced any time soon :P

Mechanithrall blobs either side of Scavy, Darragh and Combine, Arcnode, Helldiver, Overseer, Warwitch and Pistol Wrathe on the right side.

Merc Deploy: Hoping to take the Nyss Hunter through trees for a spin. Eiryss held back to knock Death Ward off the Deathjack in future turns.

Such a promising life period of activation, and it all went wrong. One of the meat sacks faced our hero, it's initial uttered words quickly stifled due to the potential presence of miny-meat sacks in the vicinity.

"Why the hell is your side of the clock counting up?!" stated our incredulous antagonist, who evidently fails at turning Chess Clocks on without screwing them up.

"I'll lose at the two hour mark" His common sense imbued foe proclaimed, and they left our hero in peace once more.

Cryx 1: It all runs forth, Ghostly gets spammed out to stop Pathfinder mattering. DJ Death Wards himself.

Merc 1: Primed goes on the Pressgangers, Redlined on the Earthbreaker, I make a very bad plan involving forgetting the existence of the Arcnode. Durgen gets Artillerist and moves forward, but I had forgotten to activate Aiyanna so instead of blowing up the Pistol Wraith facing my Colossal he killed a few Mechanithralls. Earthbreaker trundles forward, Gun Mages move up, one snipes at the Pistol Wrath and misses.

Cryx 2: This photo left worse than the other not deliberately, which given how it went I'm OK with. The memories....the horrible, brutal, ghastly, photosynthesis memories.

Arc Node runs up, Scaverous feats, Durgen gets Excarnated then TKed around, then shot by Deathjack, Combine and the Pistol Wraith to death.

......

Ow.

Cryx 1 (Reset): Desiring an actual game, the serene Kieran-san resets to the top of one.

Merc 1: I need distance and LoS blocking to stop a repeat of this madness, Durgen puts Redline on the Earthbreaker, walks to the side and back a little, casts Inhospitable Ground. Pressgangers fan out and plan to die.

Dougal Mini-feats, the Gun Mages walk forward and Snipe out the Pistol Wraith and the right side Warwith Siren. Earthbreaker trundles around to the left a bit. Nyss spread out behind the forest, Eiryss moves up to knock Deathward off next turn.

Cryx 2: Deathward upkept. Left Mechanithralls flood the zone in front of them, right Mechanithralls move into the Press Gangers and blat most of them. Arcnode runs up, Scaverous arcs a Feast of Worms that kills all the Gun Mages bar the Officer.

It was only now that the vile foes realised that grand battle clock was working at peak efficiency and counting down! Truly, the greatest heroes are the unremembered.

Merc 2: Redline upkept, Earthbreaker gets one focus. Reinholdt Reloads, Dougal puts Artillerist on the Earthbreaker, Thor does Tune up for Damage.

Durgen aims, feats, shoots the left most Mechanithralls he can see, kills three of them and one Nyss. The dangers of scatters are not many and varied, but they sure are there. He then puts out four Explosivo's, one on Eiryss and three on Nyss. Red Pressgangers get out of the way, they bop a pair of Mechanithralls in the right unit and engage the Arcnode.

Nyss move in, they kill a few of the Mechanithralls, Explosivo one kill the War witch but fails to get the Necrosurgeon or the Combine.

Eiryss walks into the forest, gets a bead on the Deathjack and shoots him knocking off Deathward and disrupting. Aiyanna and Holt move up, she sticks the harm on Deathjack and Holt shoots down a pair of Mechanithralls. Earthbreaker walks up, boosts the left Knockdown shot into the DJ, knocking down Darryl, Scaverous and Admonia. Admonia dies to the blast. After the Nipple shots are done DJ is dead and the Darryl is dismounted. Right side blast goes on the right Necrosurgeon, sadly hits triggering Sac Pawn on a Stitch Thrall.

Gun Mage Officer walks up, misses the Necrosurgeon. Tinker fails to repair the Earthbreaker's Redline damage.

Cryx 3: Necrosurgeons add Mechanithralls to both units. Left Mechanithralls engage the Nyss and miss every attack. Right Mechanithralls charge, they finish off the Pressgangers, kill the Gun Mage and do a few points to the Earthbreaker.

The Arcnode walks to block the Earthbreaker moving into the right zone. The Withshadow Combine put Puppet Strings on the Earthbreaker. Skarlock puts Feast of Worms on the Earthbreaker.

Scaverous runs to the right zone.

Cryx go to 2 CP.

Merc 3: Red Line drops, Earthbreaker gets two focus. Reinholdt Reloads, Dougal puts Artillerist on the Earthbreaker. Aiyanna and Holt walk into the forest, the Mechanithrall misses his free strike. Aiyanna Harms the Mechanithralls, Holt injures Darryl.

Durgen aims, kills the Mechanithralls on the Earthbreaker. Nyss stabs loads of Mechanithralls to death on the left zone and shoot the last Necrosurgeon away.

Earthbreaker trundles into the zone, left torpedo pops some Mechanithralls and the Necrosurgeon in the right zone, left Torpedo hits a Mechanithrall to knock down the Arc Node. Nipple shots on the left miss the Combine members, the right side hurts the Arcnode, though Puppetstrings stops it dying. Eiryss walks up, shoots the Arc Node, cranks the damage to kill it.

I forgot to activate the Tinker. Genius.

Cryx 4: Feast of Worms upkept. Necrotech creates a scrapthrall from the Death Jacks corpse. Withershadow go into the Earthrbeaker, do tons of damage, Helldiver charges and kills it. The Mechanithralls blink in surprise, walk up into cover/blocking positions.

Darragh charges Aiyanna and kills her. Left pair of Mechanithralls whistle a jaunty tune and miss the Nyss (In an "trying to assault you" way, not in the "Please come home Jonny; we're worried; we're sorry; what is wrong in my life that I must get drunk every night style".

Skaverous chills out.

Cryx go to 4 CP.

Merc 4: Durgen gets Reloaded. He shuffles up, puts Primed on the Nyss, hits the Helldiver with a Case Cracker for some damage, pops a Mechanithrall and hurts the Overseer. Holt aims, takes out two Mechanithralls in the centre. Thor walks up and flamethrowers the Overseer to death. The Nyss run/charge, they trigger a couple free strikes which kill the Combine, two get into the right zone. Charge attacks kill all but one of the left Mechanithralls, Darryl and the Skarlock. Eiryss runs into the right zone, Dougal runs into the right zone and engages the Helldiver.

Cryx 5: Scrapthrall runs to engage some Nyss in the left zone. Necrotech swings and misses at a Nyss. Scaverous feats, Excarnate one Nyss and Eiryss, fails to kill the one in the centre of the zone. The Helldiver causes Dougal to tough. Primed upkept.

Merc 5: Durgen aims, Case Cracker hits the Helldiver for a decent amount. Holt kills the Necrotech. Nyss Run/Charge, one gets into Scavy, another two touch the zone. Thor charges the Helldiver and misses. Dougal stands, swings and misses the Helldiver.

Our glorious hero suffered an end of countdown crisis of mechanical faith (Schism over whether or not agreement could be reached on the superiority of the cog over the belt. Our hero wisely researched the matter and concluded that Belts were more subject to wear and breakage.), the real effect was to reset to the 5 minute mark and paused.

Noticing this fractious behaviour, one of the antagonists attacked! Our Hero was turned off, but summoned his mighty technocramancy to turn back on. Twice. It was heroic.

Cryx 6: Scaverous puts Icy Grip on the Nyss, TK's two on the edge out of the zone and kills the one engaging him. Helldiver misses Dougal. Scrapthrall chill out.

Merc 6: Prime upkept, Durgen charges the Scrapthrall and kills him, is now in the left zone. One Nyss charges Scaverous, one charges the Helldiver, the rest just charge toward him to get into the zone. Both Nyss hit and do about eightish damage to each. Dougal swings and misses the Helldiver, Thor punches and kills it.

Mercs go to 3 CP.

Cryx 7: Scaverous can't get into the left zone to get the win, so swings at some Nyss, exploding two of them.

Mercs go to 6 CP.

The battle done, the cursing over, the sighs given over to reverent silence, our hero is placed back into stasis.
