Game 263/4 - Gorten/Fiona vs Harkevich

Alas, no Sunday Slam emerged. Instead I got Ed Slam, which works for me.

Close Quarters for both games, the first one because I rolled it, the second because.....eh. it was all set up and everything.

In a sign of greater boldness than myself, Ed was testing Harkevich for ADR. I ran my normalish lists.

Harkevich - Behemoth, Black Ivan, Silly Wishnailer, Greylord Ponies (Max), Gorman, Eliminators, Nyss Hunters (Max) + Valachev, Widowmakers

My list:

Gorten - Earthbreaker, Thor, Dougal, Pendrake, Madelyn, 2x Pressgangers, Anastasia, Hawk, Aiyanna + Holt, Gun Mages + UA, Piper

Khador deploy: Anastasia lets me win the die roll, I pick second aiming to dominate my friendly flag for a scenario win if assassination doesn't get a leg in.

Merc deploy: I space out the Pressgangers in case of Behemoth trampling AoE's.

Khador 1: Hark throws up Escort and puts Fortune on the Nyss. Sure enough, Behemoth tramples and bombards away, killing a pair of Red Pressgangers. The Widowmakers move up, they also plink a couple of the Reds. Gorman clouds up on Hark and Black Ivan.

Merc 1: One goes to the Earthbreaker. The Reds run up, engaging the front Ponies. Gorten puts up Solid Ground and charges forward, everything else runs up, the Blues drift more to the middle. Aiyanna/Holt stealth up, the Gun Mages get tough from Piper. Pendrake Lucky Bows a Pony to death.

Khador 2: Between Nyss and Fortune going on the Ponies the Pressgangers get horribly mangled. They do so well the Widowmakers plonk Pendrake to a tough roll because they had nothing else to do. The Eliminators kill Anastasia then engage Holt and a Gun Mage.

Merc 2: The last Red Pressganger moves to get to a charge spot for Gorten. Gorten charges and brutally kills him, feat drags everyone forward. The Gun Mages move out of the way. Aiyanna moves around, hits Hark with harm. Thor bumps damage rolls. Earthbreaker moves over, knocks down Hark and comfortably kills him.

 Khador left, Merc right.

For round two, I switched out to Fiona, Ed dropped the Widowmakers for Aiyanna and Holt.

Fiona - Galleon, Silly Wishnailer, Steelhead Halberdiers (Max), Kayazy Assassins (Max) + UA, 2x Eliminators, pAlexia + Risen, Dougal, Piper, Gorman, eEiryss

Khador deploy: I lose the die roll, Ed goes first as their is no hill for the Galleon to make sweet sweet walking overfoot love to.

Mercs deploy: Stealing Eds deployment method, the models between Fiona and the right Eliminators are all a mill or so back to get the upkeeps where they should go. First time incorporating the Steelheads, going second makes it not quite work out the way I'd like. Kayazy counter deploy the Nyss.

Khador 1: The Ponies run to the far right, Fortune goes on the Nyss, escort thrown on. The jacks move up, Ivan arm locks Behemoth from behind. The Nyss try to run to the left, the rearranging makes the Khador list far more blocked up then I expected.

Merc 1: Galleon gets fully loaded. Fiona puts Roth on the Assassins and Telgesh on one of the right Eliminators, feats and charges into the wall. Gorman moves up and plonks a cloud down. Piper puts dirge on the Steelheads. The Steelies and Assassins run up. Dougal mini-feats, puts Artillerist on the Galleon. Galleon moves up, rolls a single shot on either side, kills the Eliminators and one Pony. Left Eliminators run up, right Telgeshed ones move into the middle around the Galleon. Alexia runs up a little.

Khador 2:Both spells upkept, each Jack gets a focus. Aiyanna and Holt move up, get out of Fiona's feat and in range of the steelies, they land Harm and Holt kills a pair of them. Nyss move up, they plink another pair of Steelies. Behemoth throws some Bombards out, but is in feat range and fails to hurt the Assassins that get drifted on. Ivan arm locks Behemoth. The Ponies move in, one tries a spray that fails, the others Winter Wind then fall back with the light cav move. Gorman clouds.

Merc 2: Spells upkept, Galleon gets two. Piper dirges the Steelies. Steelies run up, engage a few of the Nyss and Aiyanna. Right Eliminators run around, one hold back while the Telgeshed blondie moves to draw a line on Valachev. Dougal moves up, puts Artillerist on the Galleon. Galleon walks up, throws blasts to kill a Nyss blocking the line of sight between the Telgeshed Eliminator and Valachev, it kills Aiyanna, Holt and several Nyss. Silly Wishnails puts Arcane Secrets on Fiona. Assassins charge the Ponies, kills two of them. Two Assassins become stationary in the process from Winters Chill. Gorman walks up and clouds.Fiona walks behind the Galleon, fires a Soulfire at Valachev, boosts the damage roll to kill him. Alexia walks up, pops a Thrall that charges Gorman and misses. Left Eliminators charge a Nyss, miss with all attacks.

Khador 3: Spells upkept. Hark feats, kills the Thrall on Gorman. Gorman walks forward, Black Oil scatters and gets the Galleon. Ponies spray six of the Assassins away. Black Ivan and Behemoth shots kill Eiryss, Silly Wishnailer, the Telgeshed Eliminator and both Gormans. The Nyss kill a couple more of the Steelies.

Merc 3:Roth upkept. Eliminators kill a few more Nyss. Steelies charge and don't do much. Assassins pop mini feat, kill a Pony and Silly Wishnailer. Piper puts tough on the Risen. Alexia and Risen spread out, four of them surround Behemoth. Galleon walks to the left. Fiona hides behind the Galleon.

Khador 4: Escort upkept, costs two, Behemoth fully loaded. The remaining Nyss kill the Steelheads on Black Ivan, they flee. Ivan shoots Behemoth, three of the Risen fail to tough. Hark fails to hit a Kayazy. Behemoth charges Galleon, takes out the right half.

Merc 4: Roth upkept, Galleon gets fully loaded. Galleon takes out the Behemoths Cortex and one arm. The Kayazy stab Harkevich for some damage, I screw up killing the Pony, so Alexia doesn't get in on Hark. Instead, she charges Black Ivan. I miss the boosted opening attack roll, he dodges away. The left Eliminators finish off all but one of the Nyss. One Eliminator charges Behemoth, Combi strikes and misses, he Dodges away.

Khador 5: Escort upkept. Behemoth takes out a bit more of the Galleon, Ivan fire s a shot that puts an Eliminator on one health and takes out three Risen. The last Nyss kills one of the two Steelies, who flee again. Hark swings and misses an Assassin.

Merc 5: The Assassins finally kill Hark.

Khador left, Merc right.

Game 261/2 - Jaga Jaga vs Damiano/pMakeda

Last week of the journeyman, we get the chance to swap our caster. Barny was definitely going in the box for a while, I was flipping to either Rask or Jaga. The new shiny won over the competitive wonderbra.

I weighed up either a second Posse or the Swamp Horror, ultimately the I didn't think a third Heavy would trde well enough against anyone with reasonable hitting multiple units. End List:

Jaga Jaga - Wrastler, Spitter, Snapper (Bull, not the fish), 2x Posse (Max), Feralgeist, Swamp Gobbers

I wanted a Totem Hunter to put Gravewind on, but Jaga alas is a Warbeast point short. When the Vault hits these shores and Bone Shakers my wallet I'll flip this to the Tier and sneer at the Spitter.

First game of the night was against ye old Mercs.

Damiano - Rover, Mule, Steelhead Halberdiers, Steelhead Cavalry, Alexia + Risen, Piper, Silly Wishnails
I win first turn, Jaga deploys in the centre with Posse either side and beasts in the middle with Jaga.

Across from my friendly flag go the cav, the Jacks go off centre to the left, then the Halberdiers/Alexia occupy the left side of the board.

After the initial advances overall positions don't change to much, Gravewind goes on the Wrastler while Escort is up. Damiano has Warpath going.

Top of two, Jaga moves to the flag and Spinies get out on two Posse on the left unit and one on the right. The Spinied Posse run up to jamming positions, the cavalry are hemmed out by Terrain from ignoring the jammers, the beasts and three of each unit hang back.

The Steelheads charge into the right Posse, killing two. The Steelheads advance into the left jamming Posse, they CMA but fail to kill either. Alexia and the Risen move over, Damiano puts Dead Eye on the Mule and Death March on the Steelheads. Mule moves up, crit devs the Spitter and knocks a back Posse into the Snapper. Bottom of Merc 2 I score a point.

Jaga heals the Spitters mind, feats and sits on the flag. The Right Posse kill four of the Cav after Cold Blooding, they bounce along giving Dark Shround to each Posse as they attack.

Left Posse go in, two of the Steelheads tough out, one of them goes and engages Damiano/Silly Wishnails and the Mule. Spitter walks over after Shaking, shoots Alexia but low damage roll doesn't threaten her destruction. Wrastler takes out half the Rover.

I'm in a good jamming spot, the Mercs scrabble against the Posse for a bit, but Alexia falls to the Spitter and Jaga sits on the friendly flag. A last ditch Crit Dev by the Mule throws the Gobbers into Jaga, but they don't hurt her much.

End spots.

As is always the case on Tuesdays, my tsunami of sloth washed away notions of changing the table or scenario. In this case when I lost the die roll it also meant I stayed on the same side.

Paul-Why-Did-I-Make-A-Cannoneer-Instead-Of-A-Sentry once more rocking the original Makeda.

pMakeda - Molik Karn, Gladiator, Cannoneer, Nihilators (Max), Beast Handlers (Min?), Agoniser

Surprised by the lack of Mr Puffy Pants, but it was a tricky proposition to get Molik in with the required Battle box involved.

Molik went on the left and the Nihilators screened next to him. The Cannoneer went on the right facing the gap in the Obstructions, Makeda and the rest of the stuff went in the centre.

I put Jaga in line with my friendly flag facing the Cannoneer (you know, the opposite side to Molik Can). Posse bunched up in the front lines with Beasts behind, Feralgeist on the far left where he blew a loving smooch to Molik, attempting to signal his desire for a future relationship between the pair of them.

The Skorne run forward very aggressively on turn one, though functionally keep the same spread as their deployment across the table. Defenders Ward goes on the Nihilators, Savagery gravitates to Molik, as it always does.

The Nihilators threat 13" with Savagery, so Jaga moved up toward the flag, then I used her COntrol area to make a line with my Posse about 14.5 from the front Nihilators. I think I got Jaga about 19 away from the Cannoneer, which gets to 18 with it's Cannon when Rushed. Jaga put Gravewind on the Wrastler and threw on Escort, her favourite party dress. The Gobbers clouded her and the Snapper put Spiny Growth on her. The other Beasts ran up a short way, constricted by my Posse line. The Feral Geist ran to be next to the left unit of Posse.

Makeda feats, upkeeps her spells and everything runs in to try to jam. Molik hangs around the enemy flag, the Cannoneer runs up a bit.

Jaga counterfeats, Makeda's brief hope of her feat mattering dissipates. Jaga moves up to the friendly flag, Spinies herself. Bullsnapper Spinies the Wrastler. Left Posse Cold Blood, take out a bunch of Nihilators which move in to engage the enemy Nihilators and the Gladiator. Right Posse charge a couple Nihilators as well, two of them run to stop the Cannonner getting to Jaga. Gobbers Cloud because.....Gobbers. Feralgeist runs to be just within four inches of the enemy flag. I score a point.

A single Paingiver I got with a reach attack from a Posse comes back with Makedas feat. Makeda moves up a bit, puts Carnage up. Nihilators clear out their undead enemy fellows, The Cannoneer aims and lobs a shot at a Posse in the pathway to Jaga, explodes him into a purse. Paingivers screw around, put Enrage on Molik. Molik charges a Posse, brutalises him, side steps forward, hits another Posse to bounce into the Wrastler, maxes out Fury attacking the Wrastler, takes out its mind before his final attack misses and pushes him back with Gravewind after some Spiny damage. I'd hoped he got pushed out of contesting the flag range, but sadly he was a few min in.

Right purple Gators scream Cold Blood, one charges Makeda and flubs it, another kills a pair of Nihilators, last Pair charge the Cannoneer and do not terrible damage. Left Bone Posse Cold Blood, two of them kill some Nihilators, the other two charge Molik and crank damage rolls, leaving him on three boxes. Feralgesit runs toward Molik, declaring his stalker level love affair. The Spitter, which I have mocked so often, charges Molik, boosts to hit, kills him. Molik is then Bound by the Feralgest. Wrastler charges the Cannoneer and buries him after a few bought attacks. Gobbers plonk a cloud in front of Jaga.

The below picture happened while we were trying to figure out the puzzle. I've plenty of Posse and Molik belongs to me, photo taken after the last Nihilator charged in, he was placed a few inches below the enemy flag. Reasoning that the long game was unplayable for Skorne at this point, we tried to work out how to get the Gladiator to Jaga.

In order for the Gladiator to potentially get to Jaga, the following needs to happen:
Gladiator needs to be Rushed and get Savagery
Purple Posse in front of Makeda/Gladiator needs to go away
Controlled Molik needs to be killed for the Gladiator to past the gap blocked by the Terrain

The way it could have happened:
Nihilator charges the Posse on the Gladiator, hopefully kills it
Paingiver up the back charges Molik, goes to maximum Reach not going past the Terrain and rolls good damage
makeda throws the relevant spells on Gladiator
Goes onward

It played out as the Nihilator scratched the forward Posse for two, the Paingiver missed Molik, Paul conceded.

Game 259/60 - Fiona vs 3Gaspy/Iron Mother

Sunday Slam! returns again. Fiona is still kicking it, though with Kayazy as I shed another layer of SUSS.

Game 1

Round 3 against Robs Gaspy shenanigans. It's going to be awful when I verse a different Cryx caster, I'll be expecting Ashen Veil, Carnage and Hexblast when it can be so much worse (Looking at you Crippling Grasp).

3Gaspy + Vociferon - 2x Helldiver, Mechanithralls + Skarlock Commander + Three Brutes Thralls, Mechanithrall squad with no trimmings, 2x Necrosurgeon, Darrel Wrathe, Aikos + Kraken, min Soul Hunters
Objective: Armory (Mainly to boost those artillery rolls obviously)

For round three I lacked Anastasia, potentially giving Rob a chance at first turn. Good thing he loses the roll anyway, overall dice math be damned.

Aikos is cowering behind the Kraken. That crater is being treated as a Trench for this game.

Merc 1: Charge lads! Fiona puts Telgesh on the right blonde Eliminator, Roth goes on the Assassins and Nonokian goes on Galleon.

Cryx 1: Charge onward! Gaspy ducks toward the trench after the Soul Hunters pile in. Vociferon hides behind the Kraken, Aikos sits eight inches behind the damn lobster colossal with Escort going. Ashen Veil goes out on the larger Mechanithrall unit, which spreads out into the Cryx zone. Scything Touch goes on the Soul Hunters (Possibly inaccurate on that one). The Necrosurgeons engage their twirly moustaches and hide behind the Mechanithrall blob.

The phrase "Cryx zone" makes me want to make faction based zones, should think on that.

Merc 2:
Spells upkept, Galleon fully loaded.
Eiryss moves up, pings the front Mechanithrall with Ashen Veil.
Galleon shambles forward, tries shots on the right Necrosurgeon. I misjudge by an inch, so the Blasts go the wrong way, pinging off a thrall or two.
Piper puts Dirge on the Assassins
Assassins charge in, killing a Mechanithrall or two
Fiona feats, charges forward
Eliminators run, the left pair spread to the far edge, one of the right pair kills a Mechanithrall while the Telgesh one holds back.
Gorman puts a cloud on Fiona.
I look at Dougal, sigh at my order of activation screw up, move him around in the forest
Tinker pretends he matters, runs to the Galleon
TAC run forward
Alexia and Battery move up
Silly Wishnails and Reinholdt runup

Cryx 2:
Helldivers pop up.
Kraken gets loaded, one Helldiver gets a couple focus.
The Soulhunters kill the left Eliminators then light cav back.
Kraken kills a few Kayazy with the Unicorn cannon, they get Rothed around.
Mechanithralls move around but don't achieve anything
Necrosurgeons pop some Mechanithralls back into play.

I put those Eliminators on the far left to draw the Soul Hunters away, but I;m evidently still not cognizant of how easily cavalry, particularly with Ghostly, can move around. They would have been better spent running under Fionas Feat then running at Aikos in the next turn.

Merc 3:
Spells upkept, Galleon gets a focus.
Assassins pop mini feat and charge into the support junk behind the front lines. Vociferon, a Necrosurgeon and some of the Mechanithralls die.
Right Eliminators charge in, killing the other Necrosurgeon
Dougal moves up, pops mini feat and places Artillerist on the Galleon
Galleon moves up, shoots the left Helldiver dead with the Gunports, Harppon and two Melee attacks put the Objective on 1 point and sacs a Mechanithrall.
Fiona runs to the back of the left zone.
Gorman moves forward, Blinds the Kraken.
TAC move up, one misses a spell attack on Darrel, the other two cloud.
Alexia moves up, pops a Thrall Warrior that charges Darrel and puts him on two hit points.
Eiryss moves in and pings the Objective, sacs to a Mechanithrall
Tinker walks up, kills the Objective.

Mercs go to 2 CP.

Yeah, shouldn't have killed the objective, as it opened up charge lanes onto the Galleon. On the other hand I was falling short on time, so if I don't then I have very little edge on scenario as it is. This is the turn where I needed to do a few things differently, my current thoughts on changing up the list emerge from these events.

Some kind of shield around Gorman would have been handy, such as those Eliminators I let die. The Eiryss placement was obviously not terribly great. Fiona probably should have zapped Darrel with Arcane Secrets and Lucky Charm to help a boosted Soulfire, that chump dieing needs to happen more often.

Cryx 3:
Aikos upkeeps Escort and gives the Kraken 2.
Gaspy engages the Kayazy, they fail their terror check. He feats for the hell of it. Hellfire strips off Roth's Mercy, he kills a Kayazy and Blood Boons a Carnage.
Mechanithralls run around, missing for the most part and having a jovial time. One box cars the Telgesh Eliminator, her remains fit in a matchbox. Another runs in front of the Kraken in reach range, contemplates his mistakes in becoming an undead cyborg thing. A pair of Brutes and some weedier examples take out half the Galleon.
Kraken Powerstrikes the contemplative Mechanithrall into Gorman,  crushes every metal bone in his body.
Stitch Thralls spread out in the right zone, I discover what's it's like to have to deal with waste of space Risen after you kill Alexia.
Soul Hunters charge a TAC and the Objective, the TAC dies and the objective takes a couple points. One of them dies to the Objective blast back deal.
Darrel kills the Thrall Warrior, saunters into the zone.

Merc 4: Fiona proves she has no Influence.
Nonokian upkept for giggles. I put Eiryss 4.9 away from the Galleon....
Last Eliminator runs into the far backfield, pretends to threaten Aikos.
Galleon moves up, does nothing of consequence.
I realise I didn't activate Tinker first, he moves up and fails his repair roll just to tell me everything will be OK, thanks Tinker!
Silly puts Arcane Secrets on Fiona.
TAC charge, one into Darrel, one into a Soul Hunter. I discover they are only MAT 7 in my mind, not in reality, and miss horribly with their actual MAT of 6.
Fiona casts a load of Influences at the back Soul Hunter. It does little.
Alexia and Risen charge in, kill a Soul Hunter.
Eiryss plinks a Stitchtrall
I sigh with regret.

Cryx 4:
Kraken fully loaded
Mechanithralls blat Galleon
Darrel and Gaspy clear out stuff in front of Kraken, Darrel Hellfires a Risen in front of FIona
Kraken charges Fiona, moral victory as it takes two attacks.

Cryx left, Mercs right.

Rargle Bargle. It's time to acknowledge that ineptitude against Circle doesn't matter if I don't play them that often, but sucking against the far more prevalent Cryx is a consistent issue I need to examine.

Game 2, to the funsies bracket!

Convergence with Iron Mother, having also fallen to the wretched undead Pirate bogans.

Iron Mother - Corrolary, Mitigator (Light, Puncture AoE), Assimilator (Grounder Pounder), Modulator (Line of lightning guy), Monitor (True Sight), Reductors (Short sprays), Repair guys, TEP, 2x Enigma Foundry
Objective - Bunker

I lose the die roll and get second, I pick the side with more cover options for Fiona to cower behind. As Sun Tzu says "Pick the side with cover so you can not use it all game".

I was content to put my infantry on the side away from the TEP of evil. Eiryss went on the extreme left as she wasn't going to have many targets on the right, those Foundries weren't to likely to stay out on the flank.

CoC 1:
Tactical Supremacy went on the TEP, everything runs up.

Merc 1:
I ponder popping Dougals mini feat and having the Galleon try to off the Corrolary. I apply Rob tech, the Spyglass tells me I am an inch short for such a plan.

This being the first time I've gone second with Fiona in the list, I contemplate whether to feat bottom of one or not. I decide that I should, lest the sprays devestate the Kayazy, which if I push far enough up can threaten scenario domination.

Everything charges up including Fiona after feating, Roth goes on the Kayazy, Nonokian on Galleon, Telgesh on the right Brunette Eliminator.

Eiryss tries to avoid the camera.

CoC 2:
Captain Grounder Pounder on the left fails to hit Eiryss.
TEP splatters the front left blonde Kayazy with her own guts
Iron Mother fires a shot, kills an Assassin
Spray monkeys run up somewhat
Enigma Foundries go all Necrosurgeon on me and hide behind the disposable infantry

Merc 2:
I drop Nonokian, upkeep Roth and Telgesh, full load the Galleon.
Galleon walks forward to toe the enemy zone, rolls two shots either side. Boosted damage from the left two kills the further back Foundry, the right side shots take out half the health ont eh Right Foudnry. Harpoon brutally murders a Spray guy.
Eiryss walks further up, shoots the Groudner Pounder toolomatic, disrupting him.
Left Eliminator runs into a spot aimed to annoy.
Piper puts Dirge on the Assassins
Assassins pop mini feat, charge in killing all but one of the contesting spray munchkins and the remaining Enigma Foundry.
Right Eliminators finish off the last contesting chump.
Fiona walks up, toes the zone
Gorman moves up in the cover, puts a cloud down on fiona
TAC run to be in front of Fiona

Mercs go to 2 CP

Possibly Fiona would have been safer running to the far right side of the right zone.

CoC 3:
Grounder Pounder Jack fails to hit Eiryss again
Iron Mother puts up Firegroup, shoots at and misses Fiona
Everything but the TEP moves up and shoots at Fiona, she goes to four health
TEP is half an inch out of range of Fiona after advancing directly toward

Mercs go to 3 CP

Merc 3:

Galleon gets loaded, kills the TEP
Risen finish off the last TEP Servitor thing

Mercs go to 5 CP

Mercs on the left.

Game 257/8 - Barny vs eKaya, eVyross

Journeyman continues, now with 25 pts, including Battle Box (Soon, Spitter, you'll be back on that shelf, where I can safely ignore your speed 4 lameness).

I have now realised that at no point in this journeyman can I field three Posse units. Damn your sensible decisions Privateer Press! How dare they make me play for fun!

Ended up with:
Barny - Wrastler, Spitter, Bullsnapper, Posse (Max), Gobbers, Feralgeist

The noticeable casualty from last week is the poor Thrullg.

Got two games in, I'm lazy so they were both Outflank.

Game 1

eKaya - Feral, Stalker, Stones + UA, 2x Argus, Gallows Grove

Argii and the Spitter. Truly, these lists exemplify what the Journey makes you use that otherwise would never see the light of day.

I took second, circle pushed for the left zone. Posse jammed into Argi while Barni and the Spitter sat in the Right zone and Domianted. The Stalker killed the Wrastler, who got taken over by the Feralgeist.

Kaya ported stuff back and got all the Posse dead, but didn't have much to contest the right zone, so I walked into a scenario win.

Game 2

El Hoops eVyross evil force of Armageddon - Imperatus, four Griffons, two Arcanists/

Won the die roll, took second again.

Opening turns we both run up, I ingeniously place the Feralgesit in a spot to be shot and killed.

Bottom of two the Posse charge into the Griffon squad that have taken over the left zone. They bring little glory to the Gatorverse, defensive 12 it seems is a step to far for MAT 7....
Barny runs into the back edge of the Right zone, the Spitter and Wrastler stand in front of him.

Gators go to 2 CP.

Top of three, the Griffons start bopping the Posse to get Synergy up. Imperatus charges in, slaughters the Spitter and puts two whacks into the Wrastler, taking out half his health including his mind.

Bottom of three I begin evil plan into-the-swamp-you-go. Barny charges Imperatus, feats on everything but the Arcanists, puts a Swamp pit behind Imperatus, heals the Wrastler for a box so he has his mind back. Swamp Gobbers run into the Swamp Pit to be throw targets. Bullsnapper moves up, puts Spiny on Barnabus.

The Wrastler cracks his knuckles, walks up to the knockdown Imperatus, picks him up by the leg to swingarooney him into the Swamp. He buggers it up. I stare at my dice in disgust. He maxes fury buying attacks on Imperatus, does not terribly.

The Posse take out a Griffon.

Top of four, Imperatus gets fully loaded. The Griffons fuel Synergy, wiping out two Posse in the process. Imperatus stands up, starts pummeling Barnabus. I take a hit for eight, Spiny drops off his other arm which then misses. Another hit for eight goes to the Bullsnapper. The last attacks do four points each, one gets channelled to the Snapper. Phoenix protocol gets triggered by the Spiny damage. BARNY LIVES!

Bottom of four, this time for sure! Bullsnapper frenzies and kills a Swamp Gobber (The transfer damage took out his Spirit). Barney walks to max melee range of Imperatus, Spiny Growths himself and puts a Swamp Pit out behind Imperatus again.

Wrastler gets hit upside the head by Barny. This time manages to throw Imperatus into the Swamp Pit, putting his boiler out, even though Ret jacks don't have them.

Posse damage the Griffon on the right most side of the zone, taking out his shield arm.

Gators go to 4 CP.

Top of five. Vyross keeps Synergy going, fuels up the Griffon on the right most edge of the left zone. Vyross charges a Posse, between him and two of the Griffons the Posse die out. The right most Griffon charges the Wrastler and gets into the right zone. He takes a free strike from the Bullsnapper, who hits. At dice minus 4 with three damage dice, good odds I remove a system or even kill him.

I roll three ones. The Griffon kills the Wrastler.

Ret goes to 2 CP.

Bottom of five, Barney cuts for one then kills the Griffon, though not until all his initials had missed (Defence 12 is clearly the bad part of the curve for MAT 7). The Snapper walks into the left zone.

Gators go to 6 CP. Take that you Imperatus jerkamatron.

They came out with the new League rules today, I'm torn on Minions or Mercs. I prefer Minions for Leagues, but Croak Hunters are lame.

Slam wise, I'm liable to not play with Fiona for a whgile because I suspect she's becoming a cause of frustration. List dojo currently has me with the following:

Fiona
*Silly Wishnailer
*Galleon
Dougal
Gorman
Rhupert
eEiryss
Reinholdt
Tinker
pAlexia
Kayazy Assassins (Max) + Underboss)
2x Eliminators
TAC

The original plan that no one ahs ever seen before: Run Kayazy as the biggest, weakest problem, Galleon stuff they can't threaten. Nonokian to promise assassination at every turn.

Game 255/6 - Fiona vs eVlad/3Gaspy

Allrighty, Sunday Slam! is back. Or at least, that's what everyone else was doing. I have this viewpoint that it is poor behaviour to denigrate your own skill to much, as it demeans the prowess of your opponents, who after all do need to capitalise on your mistakes for them to really matter.

That said, I numptied hard this day. Worse than that, I knew I was bitching about it at the time, but couldn't stop myself.

I think I either need to have a break from Fiona or make an entirely different list from the ground up, likely I'll have worked that out after reliving these games.

Serious junk out of the way, onto the slapstick play!

Fiona
*Galleon
*Silly Wishnailer
Boomhowlers (Max),
Gun Mages + UA
eEiryss
Alexia + Risen
Anastasia
Reinholdt
Ragman
Piper
Gorman
Tinker
Objective: Arcane Wonder

You happy list? You happy? Gorman and Anastasia going out for tea again? This is, like, your fourth and fifth date, you guys going serious or what?

I don't think the caffeine has hit yet.... (After the slam, I went home and had some sleep. Sweet, delicious sleep. Shift work hours are balls.)

Game 1

Incoming (Two zones/objective).

Edinators eVlad - Behemoth, Nyss + Valachev, Aiyanna + Holt, 2x Eliminators, War Doge, Greylord Ponies, Yuri, 2x Manhunters, eEiryss

I won the die roll, picked first.

By the power of hindsight this was not the proper choice. Some Jerk (also known as me) who set up the terrain had given one side a lovely hill and a linear, the side Ed rightly threw me on had this Obstruction that blocked off Huge bases until the Objective was destroyed.

The Boomhowlers split deployed, for no particularly good reason.

The initial placement of the Khador oppressors. I really like the addition of Manhunters in eVlad, potential early feat targets and good users of Transference.

Merc 1: Everything runs up. I'd put Eiryss on the flank out of habit, choosing the left to not get killed by the Spray Donkeys. I reasoned if nothing else she might pull a manhunter out, which she then runs away from and gets killed by the Gun Mages. The Piper put pathfinder on the Boomies, because I didn't think about where models were going to run, should have dirged the Boomies. Roth ends up on the Boomies, Telgesh on Anastasia and Nonokian on the Gun Mages. Alexia pops out a Thrall who runs to the left.

Khador 1:
Behemoth gets a focus.
Vlad throws out Hand of Fate on the Nyss, Assail on Behemoth, then walks up near the Objective to put out Transference.
Ed points out I didn't activate and move Anastasia. I sigh.
Eiryss casually walks up into cover, my Gun Mages roll my eyes at me as they explain they ignore Concealment. She pops a Boomhowler, knocking off Roth. I pass the tough.
Behemoth tramples forward, scatters some blast shots out. The first deviates onto Gorman and kills him. The second deviates onto two Gun Mages, who wish that their armour wasn't as protective as a pair of speedos.
The Ponies all move up and do Winters Chill.
Nyss walk up, Zephyr, shoot down a Boomhowler. I display my skills to the world (Rolling tough is totally a skill).
Yuri runs toward Eiryss, but I decide his red ark marking is offensive and don't get him in the picture.

Merc 2:
Ed reminds me that this game has feats. Yep, that's how well I was braining. If only it was a zombie apocalypse, my brain would have been safe....
Nonokian upkept, Galleon a couple focus.
Piper puts dirge on the Boomies.
Boomies run forward, 4+ tough. A few get to charge the Eliminators, it was a fine display of not rolling the elevens to hit.
Gun Mages move up, they kill the most central Manhunter.
Galleon walks up, shoots at Behemoth hoping to scatter into more important stuff. Behemoth is actually in range, so most of the shots sadly hit.
Ragman walks into the forest.
Drawn by Ragmans charisma, Eiryss runs to his forest.
Thrall Warrior runs forward into the zone.
Fiona moves forward, puts Telgesh on a Boomhowler, tries to arc a Soulfire to Valachev, is way out. I look down, see that the Eliminators are within 13.5 of Fiona, ponder life choices. Fiona Feats.
Anastasia runs in front of Fiona, screams PAY ATTENTION TO ME, IGNORE THE WARCASTER BEHIND ME.
Alexia and some Risen run forward.
Tinker hides behind the Galleon, strikes heroic pose.

Arcing with Soulfire: As I realised on the drive home, Valachev had his unit in command. Ergo, he had to be within 9 of the front Nyss. The Boomhowler just had to be in line with one of the chumps on the hill, and I would know well ahead of time whether or not arcing was a remotely workable plan.

Khador 2:
I think Assail drops, Transference and Hand of Fate stick around.
Nyss demolish the Boomhowlers on the left.
Vlad walks up a bit, hot swaps Hand of Fate to the Ponies. Feats for the minimal amount, picks the Manhuntress and three of the Eliminators.
Ponies kill some Risen, knock down some Boomies.
Manhuntress wipes Anastasia off the face of the globe.
Eliminators charge Fiona. By the power of dice ignoring average results, Fiona hangs on with six health left. The three feated ones are in Fiona face, the last non-feated one is in her back arc engaging her and the Galleon.
Yuri runs to the left edge of the left zone.
Doge goes woof.

Hot Swapping would be so much better if you could have some kind of attachment do it instead. That would be awesome. It could be called the-villain-from-lion-king plus mechanism-used-to-secure-a-door.

Merc 3:
A Risen pops behind the Eliminators.
Nonokian hangs around, Galleon gets three focus.
Ragman walks up, Death Fields.
Galleon shoots said Risen, hits, boosts the blast damage rolls on the three feated Eliminators, killing them all.
Alexia moves into the last Eliminator, boosts the to hit roll and kills her. One Risen optimistically engages the Manhuntress.
Gun Mages move up, between them they kill Yuri.
Fiona camps, walks into the Forest.
Boomies move up, the one that gets to Eiryss is missed by Vlads Defensive strike and the charging war Doge. Greygore Rage howls, the various units pass their command checks.
The remaining solos dance a merry jig.

While needing to put Dark Shroud on Eliminators is depressing, I am at least happy with the blasting Risen to get them, probably the best play I did all day.

Khador 3:
Transference and Hand of Fate upkept.
Ponies wipe out some Risen, kill all Boomies Grunts and leave him knocked down and fleeing.
Aiyanna and Holt go on the hill, she tries to Harm Fiona and misses.Holt kills the Risen engaging the Huntress.
Eiryss moves up, misses Fiona.
Vlad moves Hand of Fate to the Nyss.
The Nyss move, go into three man pods where they can, shots at Fiona do another two damage.
Manhuntress walks over to Fiona, first attack cuts her head off which is then booted into the Galleons face.

Khador on left, Merc on right.

Game 2

Outflank

El Shherdo's 3Gaspy + Vociferon - 2x Helldiver, Mechanithralls + Skarlock Commander + Three Brutes Thralls, Mechanithrall squad with no trimmings, 2x Necrosurgeon, Darrel Wrathe, Aikos + Kraken, min Soul Hunters

I won the die roll, pick first.

Cryx deploy, with Aikos cowardly hiding behind the Kraken (So unlike Gaston, who strategically places himself behind the Galleon whenever he's controlling one).

Merc 1: Standard spells pop out, Galleon runs up, Boomies and Gun Mages fan out before the evil that is the sparkly Rainbow Unicorn Cannon shoots them all. Eiryss is totally brave. A Thrall is born, screaming, thrashing, covered in gunk and running to the right.

Cryx 1: The Doom March begins.
Aikos throws out Escort.
Kraken wiggles forward, kills a Boomhowler and knocks one down. I Roth Mercy the death to a second rower, I pick one out of Alexia's collection range for reasons I don't comprehend.
Helldivers move up and dive.
The units all move, I'm completely thrown by the lack of self murder and Necro spawnage among the Mechanithralls....

Merc 2: The misplacening.
Spells upkept.
Anastasia runs up to the left.
Galleon moves up, throws out some blasts that get a couple Mechanithralls.
Boomies run up, one stands in front of the Kraken for a dare. He swears that if he lives through it he will just play Spin the Bottle in the future.
Silly Wishnails and Reinholdt do their Fiona buffs.
Fiona moves up, feats, arcs a soulfire that kills the left Necrosurgeon.
Gun Mages move up, the right Necrosurgeon is allready loaded with three souls so they kills a few more Mechanithralls.
Thrall Warrior runs up into the zone.
Alexia runs to the far left.

Cryx 2: Knocked down is best down.
Gaspy knocks off Roth's Mercy.
Soul hunters clear out the right zone, aside from the lone grunt in front of the Kraken.
One Helldiver engages Boomies in the left zone, the other goes back to bed.
Kraken and Darel try to kill the Boomie Grunt in front of them. I pass five odd tough rolls.
Mechanithralls move in, mainly hovering around the edges of the left zone. They kill off the Boomie that had stood in front of the Kraken.
Necrosurgeon falls back, hides behind his stitchthralls.
Other stitchthralls surround Anastasia, laugh at her lack of Acrobatics. Anastasia regrets not studying Ballet like her mother wanted.
Cryx control the right zone, go to 1 CP.

Merc 3: Necrosurgeon murder is the path to moral victory.
Galleon gets a pair of Focus, spells upkept.
Gun Mages walk up, one of them goes for a lol shot at Aikos which is sadly out.
Fiona gets buffed by Reinholdt and Silly.
Galleon moves up, tries to kill the Stitchthralls in front of the Necrosurgeon, buggers it up. Or has a vendetta against that piece of ground four inches behind the Necrosurgeon at any rate. Harpoon and melee attacks kill the Helldiver.
Gorman blinds a pair of the Brutes.
Alexia charges and clears off a pair of the Stitchthralls on Anastasia.
Anastasia runs up to get line of sight on the Necrosurgeon.
Fiona moves behind the Galleon, arcs a soulfire at the Necrosurgeon with Arcane Secrets and Lucky Charm. Misses. I fire another one, which hits and puts him on one hit point.
Eiryss sprints into the face of the Kraken.

Cryx 3: Gorman di Sea Wulfe wishes he was back at sea.
Gaspy pulls the souls off Vociferon.
Helldiver pops up, gets focus.
Helldiver charges and reduces Gorman to his component particles (Blood and glitter).
Soul Hunters kill Eiryss and the Gun Mage in the right zone.
Mechanithralls swarm around, killing a bunch of Boomies.
Gaspy hides behind Darrel in the Right Zone.
Cryx go to 3 CP.

Telgesh hangs around, Galleon gets max focus. Anastasia runs to get line fo sight on Gaspy.
Fiona Sould fires Gaspy, does nothing, puts Nonokian on Galleon.
Galleon walks up, rolls max shots, does about four damage to Gaspy, I concede.

Merc on the left.

Blergh. I don't usually make Monday night games, I think I'll try for one today to get past this showing.
