Almost Sunday Slam! (1)

Incoming
Fiona - Galleon, Silly Wishnailer (2), Boomhowlers (Max), Gun Mages + UA, TAC, Alexia + Risen, Anastasia, Reinholdt, Ragman, Piper, Gorman, Tinker
Objective: Arcane Wonder
pButcher (Claws of the Dragon Tier 4) - Devestator, Kodiak, Uhlans (Max), 2x IFP + BD UA, 2x IFP Kovnik, War Doge, Great Bears
Objective: Arcane Wonder
I lose the die roll, get given first turn. Ed picks the side that denies me getting a hill. The Base behind the Galleon is the Tinker, who decided to implode into his component particles that morning.
Khador Deploy with Advance Moves.
Merc 1:Everything runs up, Telgesh goes on Anastasia, Nonokian goes on the Gun Mages and Roth's Mercy goes on the Boomhowlers. Alexia pops a Thrall that runs up to the Boomhowler line.
Khador 1: All the Black Dragons pop Iron Zeal, Iron Flesh goes on the left unit, Fury on the Uhlans.
Merc 2: Begin the complicated turns!(3)
* All spells upkept (Telgesh, Nonokian, Roth), two allocated to Galleon
* Anastasia moves to the left a couple inches. Impressive are my Anastasia activations this day.
* Reinholdt puts Lucky Charm on Fiona
* Silly Wishnails puts Arcane Secrets on Fiona
* Fiona moves up. I mutter nervously about my position. I remember Ed's army literally has one gun. Fiona Feats, casts Affliction on the Iron Fleshed IFP, reducing the cost with the Objective and getting Lucky Charm and Arcane Secrets to land it (4)
* Gun Mages aim, remove a big chunk of the Iron Fleshed IFP
* TAC move up, left one throws a fireball that misses, other two cloud
* Gorman moves up, hides behind the TAC clouds, throws a Blind bomb that scatters onto a triangle of the red (right) IFP.
* Piper puts Dirge on the Boomhowlers
* Boomhowlers shout 4+ tough, jam in
* Galleon walks up, shoots through the gap at the Great Bears, kills Relentless charge munchkin
* Thrall runs in front of one of the Red unit triangles
* Alexia and Risen run up
WHY DID I THROW A BLIND BOMB WITH GORMAN?! I've actually made this mistake against Ed's IFP before, for some reason I only remember the Corrosion option after the attack is resolved. I'll pretend to be concerned about Corroding my own stuff, but that is just.
Khador 2:
* Both spells upkept
* Uhlans charge the Galleon, roll reasonable damage
* Kovnik on far left charges and knocks down the furthest Boomie
* Middle Kovnik moves to toe the zone, puts Shield March on centre IFP
* Butcher feats, hot swaps Fury to the IFP, moves behind the Objective
* The IFP all advance in shield wall, Fiona feat stops them doing much to the Galleon, they kill a Boomie
* Great Bears charge the Galleon. Like a superhero revealing himself as a disgusied sidekick, they remove their face masks to show the world they are, in fact, the Mediocre bears. Identical to teh Great Bears in everyway, but terrible at hitting Collosals
* Kodiak charges the Galleon, also does appalingly
* War Doge barks. Moves over a little bit
Merc 3: That is Ed's pointing finger. Don't let it point at you.
* Three Risen join the battery
* All spells upkept (Affliction, Roth, Nonokian, Telgesh), two allocated to Galleon
* Tinker fixes the Galleon for four points, restoring the lost right arm
* Galleon turns a little, shoots the Objective down to three health. Kodiak gets Harpooned then stabbed, no systems lost.
* Gun Mages move up, they push the Devestator out of the zone and kill both Kovniks.
* Anastasia walks up
* Piper Dirges the Boomies
* Boomies jam in, one of them goes up to the Devestator
* TAC move around to stop the Uhlan engaging Gorman, as well as flail ineffectually
* Gorman throws a Corrosion bomb (Learning! Almost!), kills a couple IFP and injures the Officer
* Ragman Bone Shakers the Officer, who then goes and stabs another IFP before dropping
* Reinholdt Luck Charms Fiona
* Silly Arcane Secrets on Fiona
* Fiona moves up, boosts an affliction at an engaged IFP. It misses, can hit either a Boomie or a TAC. Hits the Boomie. Affliction replaces Roth's Mercy. I insert a GIF.
* Alexia moves up, creates a Thrall in the back
* Thrall runs to being behind the forest on the right
So....yeah.....that Affliction cast....
I'd had a non-engaged IFP selected mentally at the beginning of the turn, but I did the Gorman/Ragman attacks on them. I even could have gone before the Boneshaker and been fine, but nope, that just isn't what I do.
Had the Affliction stuck it would have let some Risen potentially knock off some more IFP, but that wasn't essential. The bad bit was it got rid of Roth's Mercy, which was really damaging for my overarching plan next turn.
Khador 3:
* Spells upkept, two focus on the Devestator
* Butcher runs to the zone
* IFP stab some dudes, killing a boomie or two and the TAC
* Great Bears and Kodiak kill the Galleon
* Uhlans charge up, kill Gorman
* War Dog charges the Boomie on the Devestator, kills him and returns back toward Butcher
* Devestator charges a Risen, bulldozes him back a bit, Rain of Death kills some Risen, boosted damage kills Anastasia
Khador Dominate enemy zone, go to two CP.
The plan had been to sac the War Doge attack to another Boomie and keep blocking the Devestator, good thing I kicked that anthill over.
Merc 4:
I debated at this point whether or not I had a viable assassination on Butcher. I decided I didn't and went for the conservative play.
* Horde of Risen pop out, all of them behind the Khador line, facing the Objective/War Doge
* Nonokian Upkept
* Ragman Death Fields
* Alexia and Risen charge. She goes into the Devestator, three each go into the Objective and the War Doge, the rest just run to engage stuff. Objective gets put to one CP, War Doge gets missed. Alexia burns a bunch of Risen to kill the Devestator
* Boomies move over, one gets free struck by the IFP on the far left, solely to not do the Affliction mishap again. They kill nothing.
* Piper Dirges on the Boomies, IFP fail their command checks, both units fail
* Gun Mages kill a couple of the IFP in the enemy zone, I elect to not shoot five of them into the remaining pair in case of Boomies. We'll get back to this in a moment.
* Lucky Charm/Arcane secrets happen. Again.
* Fiona moves up, fires a spell bolt at the Objective, boosts damage and kills it
* Thrall runs into the friendly zone
Mercs got to 3 CP (Dominating enemy zone, killing Objective)
Khador stays on 2 CP
I should have given the IFP more free strikes to get rid of the IFP engaging stuff, then killed them with the Gun Mages.
Khador 4:
* Left IFP rally
* Butcher shoots the Thrall dead
* Uhlans charge up, have issues blatting the objective
Khador go to 5, I am sad.
Had I finished off the IFP on the left, then there isn't much Khador stuff to get to my zone, if it doesn't pan out then we both go to 5 CP and I can clear my zone and throw a Risen into the enemy zone for the win. Doh
Merc on the left, Khador on the right. I was ahead on the initial turns, but slowed up a lot once the melee started.
List needs work. Loving the Anastasia/Boomies/Gun Mages, that block works and amuses me.
Galleon, TAC and Alexia are under consideration, I'll try the list again but current contemplations are downgrading to a light jack or two, Horgenhold and maybe another solo.
1 - There was a Warmachine Players population crisis this day....
2 - The Elf that nails genies?
3 - Complicated to me anyway. Really this just means I lazily flick to writing in dot points.
4 - I think that's every ability I could have possibly leveraged on that outside of somehow knocking down the target

Game 245 - C - MacBain! vs eButcher
Versed Ed of the Grolarioans (1)
No Clocks
Fire Support
MacBain - Galleon, 2x Pressgangers, TAC, ATGM + UA, Hawk, Bosun Grogspar, eEiryss, Anastasia
Objective: Effigy of Valor
eButcher - Beast 09, War Doge, Malakov + Grolar, Nyss + Valachev, Fenris, Reinholdt, Widowmakers, Drakhun
Objective: Arcane Wonder
Merc Deploy: Playing the part of the Galleon will be an Earthbreaker base. The Risen to the right of the Galleon were theoretically for spawning Thralls to run up the side, though that was unrealistic. The Widowmakers are not yet deployed...
Khador deploy: Playing the part of the Grolar today is an armless Jugger. 09 is repped by the Proxy base he's standing in front of.
Merc 1: Everything runs up, Fortune on the Gun MAges, Failsalfe on the Galleon.
Let us play spot the misplaced Risen! (2)
Khador 1: Between Nyss and Widowmakers, six of the Blue Pressgangers tap out. 09 gets Fury, Grolar gets Redline and walks up. The proxy base is now the Grolar (3).
Fenris runs up, Effigy does its thing to stop the Abomination checks.
Pretty much as soon as his turn ended Ed lamented that he didn't Fleet the Grolar, walk up and Arm Lock 09. Hard to disagree with the following turn.
Merc 2:
Risen pop out the front. Fortune upkept, two get put on the Galleon.
What remains of the Blue Pressganger unit Runs/Charges, the first goes up to the Drakhun, the others fail to hit an Eliminator.
Hawk runs to the left to give Object of Desire against Fenris. I mistakenly claim she has pathfinder, which is thankfully pointed out before I try it in a tourney.
Red Pressgangers pile into Fenris and dismount him.
Gun Mages aim or shuffle a bit, one of them pings an Eliminator blocking the Beast drag, doing a couple points. Two of them aim and kill the engaging dismounted Fenris.
Grogspar moves to get inside Stealth range on the blocking Eliminator. His shot misses, scatters to hit both unengaged Eliminators instead, killing them both. (4)
Galleon moves up, AoE shot on Beast hits, killing the Nyss in front blocking the drag. 09 Hyper aggressives forward, remaining shots kill another Nyss. Boosted Drag shot hits and pulls Beast in, free melee attack misses, because Defence 9 is op.
MacBain feats for eight, gets Grogspar, Alexia and six Risen. Casts Jackhammer three times on the Galleon, kills it exactly.
Alexia and Risen run up. I only just left enough of a gap for her to run through, I was sweating bullets (5). They jam around Butcher and a couple of the Nyss, the Battery shuffle forward. The out of position Risen gets forgotten about, because he is a goober.
Anastasia moves up, hiding behind some Gangers.
TAC move up and throw some Random clouds down, because they are the TAC.
Khador 2:
Grolar gets loaded. (6)
Drakhun rides by, killing the Pressganger engaging him, then moving over onto Eiryss.
Reinholdt reloads Butcher.
War Doge barks, charges a Risen and knocks it down.
Butcher feats, shoots a Pressganger.
The Grolar punches the Risen in front of him forward, shoots Alexia for nothing (Flicked to the feated Risen), then guns down a Ganger in front of Anastasia.
Nyss move up, with Zephyr they unengaged if they want, they rain down some shots.
Eliminator charges Eiryss, misses twice.
Widowmakers shoot at the remaining Blue Pressgangers, they cause them to flee and do two points of damage to the Drakhun.
Buthcer sadly only generates two feat tokens, they go on the most forward Nyss.
Feat Nyss moves up to Anastasia, boosted hit roll misses.
Merc 3: This was a long turn with a bunch of stuff happening, may have some errors in the order.
Risen spawned behind the Nyss.
Spells dropped, one allocated to Galleon.
Blue Pressgangers rally.
Red Pressgangers walk up, kill a bunch of the Nyss, the Lass Seduces the Nyss on Anastasia, causing her to move up next to a fellow Nyss presenting her back.
Gun Mages move up, push the Grolar back and shoot a few of the Nyss.
TAC move up, the first one blasts the two Nyss blocking Anastasias Esponiage, the other two do a little dance and get down tonight.
Anastasia walks up, gets in Esponiage range by about a mill. Esponiage stuff:
Galleon shoots an AoE at the objective, doing two points and killing a Widowmaker.
Anastasia gets out of the way.
Red Pressgangers move into the Nyss, box most of them.
TAC walk over.
Grogspar moves out of the way. Risen move up, a few swing at Valachev. Alexia herself does a Handcannon shot on the War Doge, double boosting to kill it.
Esponiage done (Didn't bother to activate the Blue Pressganger)
Gun Mages advance, first Thunderbolt shot into Buthcer crit knockdowns. The rest don't do anything meaningful.
Alexia charges Butcher, as does one Risen. The three Risen on Valachev charge him. Valachev lives without issue. Risen charging Butcher (Camping Three) does two points! Alexia burns sixteen Risen to make nine damage boosted attacks to kill Butcher.
Had Alexia failed, I still had the Galleon to run in and get Jackhammered five times.
This wasn't Ed nor mines best game, positing wasn't great, in particular I dislike how much I muddled my units together. I'm not confident Anastasia is really good for me, in a timed game I'd be under a lot of pressure not to time out in this list.
There's a tiny bit of Skornergy in that the Pressgangers RFP living models, but that isn't really an issue, I bring enough potential casualties to fuel Alexia.
I didn't really do anything with Eiryss, I'd planned on feating on her and running her next to the jacks, but just plain forgot her while she was behind the building.
Player Grading
Time Management: 4, slow.
Scenario Awareness: 5, not really in a position to do much.
Spacing and Placement: 6, workable but messy.
Target Priority: 6, should have leveraged attacks on Valachev.
Effectiveness: 8, dice math on attacks quite good, executed the assassination well.
Cool: 8, Sykadelic.
Grade: C(37)
1 - The faction of Khador players doomed to travel the desert in search of the Grolar model.
2 - It's behind the Gun Mages. I think on some level I planned to move up and Thrall for Fenris, but my unit placement wasn't great this day.
3 - PP, you're game is great. Making models that can stand base to base though.....
4 - I crap talked Grogspar about two seconds before rolling the shot. I apologised right after the damage rolls.
5 - Which would have made me smell like cordite. Mmmm.....cordite.....
6 - With focus, though given his status as an amputee model wise I would understand if he was awarded damages.

Game 244 - B - MacBain! vs eVyross
SR 2015
No Clocks
Incursion
MacBain - Galleon, 2x Pressgangers, TAC, ATGM + UA, Hawk, Bosun Grogspar, eEiryss, Anastasia
Objective: Effigy of Valor
Hoopinators eVyross Tier 4 - Imperatus, 2x Aspis, 6x Griffon, 2x Arcanist, Sentinels, Destor Thane
Ret deploy: Hoops wins the roll, picks first. I pick the side with the hill and non-blocking terrain.
Merc Deploy: Plonked down. TAC and Alexia deployed a few mill back to make sure MacBain! can see the Gun Mages.
Ret 1: Synergy gets thrown up, everything runs forward.
Hoops mentioned afterward that he felt he bunched up to much here. Can't say I disagree with how it played out.
Merc 1:
Ret 2:
Merc 2:
Damn it left flag, I thought we were friends! Really needed to check that Sentinels contest range, I had no reason to trust my eyeballing.
I also should have moved Hawk up early on to give the Pressgangers extra damage on the Destor, which I didn't need on the Sentinels. I was always going to have the Thrall to claim the centre flag if needed, but the fallback of Galleon Power Striking had the good chance of killing the Destor and triggering a Griffon feat move to the left flag.
Ret 3:
Merc 3:
Eiryss had to run back to get the Anastasia shot, checking afterward the forest was two wide for a rear shot, so that was the right call.
Player Grading
Time Management: 5, slow to plan, Esponiage takes time.
Scenario Awareness: 6, had a good scenario plan that forced desperation moves, but messed up the execution a little.
Spacing and Placement: 7, good jamming. Kept MacBain safe from getting Molicked.
Target Priority: 7, got most of the things off the scenario that I needed, recognised the lack of other good targets
Effectiveness: 8, good dice math for the most part
Cool: 7, mental errors recovered from

Ret deploy: Hoops wins the roll, picks first. I pick the side with the hill and non-blocking terrain.
Merc Deploy: Plonked down. TAC and Alexia deployed a few mill back to make sure MacBain! can see the Gun Mages.
Ret 1: Synergy gets thrown up, everything runs forward.
Hoops mentioned afterward that he felt he bunched up to much here. Can't say I disagree with how it played out.
Merc 1:
- Galleon gets one.
- MacBain feats, getting Alexia, Grogspar and four out of each Pressganger unit. Failsafe goes on the Galleon, Fortune goes on the Gun Mages.
- Pressgangers and Grogspar run up to open jam camp.
- Eiryss sprints up the right.
- Galleon runs up the hill.
- Gun Mages, Hawk, Anastasia and Alexia move up, Battery mill around.
- TAC walk up and cloud.
Ret 2:
- Synergy upkept, two allocated to Imperatus.
- Vyros camps, feats and moves up.
- Sentinels and most of the jacks shuffle up to the Pressganger wall, the Apis' stay near Vyross.
- Destor Thane moves up and shoots down a pair of the Red Pressgangers.
- Imperatus shoots Grogspar, puts him on one box, the blast kills a Pressganger next to him, triggering flameburst to set Grogspar on fire. Doh.
- A Griffon on the right gets Focus from an Arcanist and runs around the Pressganger wall to contest the right flag.
Merc 2:
- Grogspar burns to death, Battery grows.
- Both spells upkept, three goes to the Galleon.
- Red Pressganger charge, two go into the Destor, the rest go into the Sentinels. The Destor gets lightly tickled, a few Sentinels go down, RFP effect stopping the feat.
- Blue squad walks in, the one engaged by the Griffon the right flag walks out, copping a freestrike and failing the tough roll. They form a line and remove more of the Sentinels.
- Gun Mages move, Thunderstrike the Griffon on the right flag away, crit knocking him down on the way. One draws a bead on an arcanist with Snipe, but an Aspis shield guards it.
- Eiryss moves up, shoots the knock down Griffon
- Alexia moves over, pops a thrall.
- Galleon moves to the left flag, Powerstrikes the Destor away from the left flag, leaves him on one box.
- Thrall was positioned to charge Imperatus, but LoS checking shows that Pressgangers are in the way, so he walks back a bit.
- TAC walks up, clouds
- MacBain! chills out.
- Hawk runs to the centre flag
- Anastasia runs to the right flag
Damn it left flag, I thought we were friends! Really needed to check that Sentinels contest range, I had no reason to trust my eyeballing.
I also should have moved Hawk up early on to give the Pressgangers extra damage on the Destor, which I didn't need on the Sentinels. I was always going to have the Thrall to claim the centre flag if needed, but the fallback of Galleon Power Striking had the good chance of killing the Destor and triggering a Griffon feat move to the left flag.
Ret 3:
- Synergy hangs around, Imperatus gets fully loaded, the right Aspis gets a focus
- Destor stands, shoots down the two Red Pressgangers in front of the Galleon
- Arcanist gives out a focus to a Griffon, other Strength buffs Imperatus
- All the Aspic/Griffon activate, clear out a bunch of Pressgangers, get a Synergy bonus of +4.
- Vyros moves up, takes out a Pressganger, camps 1
- Imperatus tramples some Pressgangers to get to the middle flag, buys an attack to kill Hawk
- Knock downed disrupted Griffon on the right stands and walks back to the right flag
Merc 3:
- Failsafe/Fortune upkept, one goes to the Galleon, three on MacBain!
- Eiryss runs back
- Blue Pressgangers get out of the way
- Gun Mages move up, I waste five shots into Vyros sitting in a forest. I wake up, shoot two Thunderstrikes into the left Aspis and knock it out of Shield Guard Range
- Anastasia walks away from the Griffon on her, uses Esponiage, pinging EiryssAlexia, Gun Mages and the Pressgangers
- Gun Mages move into a conga line, they thunderstrike the right Aspic until it is knock downed
- Eiryss moves a little, misses Vyross (Needed 8's)
- Alexia moves up, fires her handcannon for the hell of it
- MacBain walks over, puts Fortune on Alexia
- Alexia charges Vyros, buys attacks and fully boosting them all. Six attacks bury him, had two more fully boosted attacks to go.
Eiryss had to run back to get the Anastasia shot, checking afterward the forest was two wide for a rear shot, so that was the right call.
