Game 123 - Win - Midas vs Old Witch

Result: Win
76 - 46 - 1

50 Point Fire Support (Two neutral flags, two aligned objectives that boost light artillery)

Midas Tier 4 - 2x Warhog, Roadhog, 3x RaBo's, 2x Gun Boars, Targ, Bone Grinders (Min), Slaughterhousers, Boneswarm, Dead Warhog
Old Witch and Scrapjack - Behemoth, WGI + UA + 3 WA, Joe, Kayazy (Max) + UA, Great Bears, eEiryss, Reinholdt, Sylyss, Ternion

List selection Error: I had Midas and Carver, in hindsight I picked the wrong one. Midas loses advantages he has against Hordes, but the bigger issue is the big forest in the dead centre of the table. The Brigands at least can gain Pathfinder, and Dig In would cause greater problem for the WGI.

Khador won dice roll, picked first turn. eEiryss is represented by her prime version, Jack is Behemoth.

Farrow deployment. Road Hog moved up via Advance Move.

Khador turn 1 -  Most things run up. Joe gives fearless/tough to the deathstar, Ternions put down some clouds, WGI get Iron Flesh, Scrappy gets Avatar of Slaughter and Great Bears get Weald Secrets.

Farrow turn 1 - Stuff moves up, Midas casts Swarm and fails a charge to get some distance. Road Hog damages for Speed, charges forward, Assault spray gets over two WGI and the Officer. One of the WGI gets hit and dies, but a boosted shot misses the Officer.

Tactical Error: The Road Hog sacrifice to get the WGI officer is an unfortunate necessity, but not having the Bob and Weave order put the deathstar down to a  far more manageable def 15 with Iron Flesh. I should have supported the play more with Midas, who spent his Fury doing nothing as it was. The left Rabo should have stayed at the end of Midas threat range, turning to face the right side to ensure no back strike bonus, the successful charge with boosted spell range from the Grinders allows a boosted Hex Blast to potentially remove Iron Flesh and make the Road Hogs job easier. Definitely not in curse range and insufficient Fury to try a Calamity.

Tactical Error: RaBo's placed too far into forest, should have just toed it to stop the Weald Secreted Bears moving in and stabbing away, only factored in the charge potential, which was stopped by the forest blocking LoS.

Khador turn 2 - All spells upkept. Scrappy charges RaBo, misses both attacks. Great Bears move in and kill the RaBo's (Lacked LoS to charge, but Weald gave them pathfinder to walk in). Kayazy run up. WGI do a massive CRA on the Road Hog, hurt it badly. Old Witch gets Arcane Secrets and Lucky Charm from Reinholdt, then casts Gallows to drag the Road Hog in. Scrappy gets teleported back, Old Witch feats. Ternions cloud, Eiryss hangs around, doing a tiny amount of damage to the right War Hog.

Farrow turn 2 - Midas moves up, takes some damage that gets bounced to a Gun Boar. Boosted Hex Blast on the WGI hits, takes off Iron flesh, kills a few of them. Gun Boar runs up, takes some damage from Old Witch feat to block charges on Midas. Targ moves up, uses Ancillary attack to get Gun Boar to shoot the WGI to knock another one off. Left War Hog runs up, takes minimal damage from Old Witch feat. Other Gun Boar sits in the forest to block Bears, minimal damage again. Swarm uses animus, charges toward Kayazy who pass their terror check. Grinders move up, Arcane bolt a WGI and Slaughterhousers run around trying to look cool.

Khador go to 1 CP. Remaining rocketeer blocks my own flag CP.

Rule Error: Terror triggers off Melee range, not 2 inches.

Khador turn 3 - WGI move up, shoot up the left Gun Boar and cause Targ to tough. Behemoth with max focus charges the War Hog, charge attack hits for damage, misses next three attacks. Great bears charge, one into the Bone Swarm, two into the forward War Hog; War Hog gets damaged down to two spirit boxes and Bone Swarm put on one health. Kayazy charge, three go into the Boneswarm and the rest run up to tarpit. Ternions cloud, Old Witch casts Iron flesh on WGI, then charges a Kayazy to get base to base with flag, misses said Kayazy. Eiryss causes Slaughter Houser to Tough.

Khador go to 3 CP.

Farrow turn 3 - Left War Hog starts, boosts to hit and damage to kill one of the Great Bears (missing other two aspects). Gun Boar moves in, boosts to hit and damage to kill another Great Bear. Grinders move back, cast Massacre on War Hog. Slaughter Housers charge in, kill several Kayazy, but not the one blocking the War Hog charge. War Hog tramples, fails to hit the two Kayazy that he goes over, buys and attack and boosts to hit Kayazy that will free strike the Midas charge, misses. Midas curses the Kayazy, charges in, free strike misses. Kills Kayazy, feats back bunch of beasts, casts Massacre on the Road Hog and War Hog. Road Hog charges Kayazy next to the flag, flame thrower misses the Kayazy and Reinholdt, hits Witch for some damage and sets her on fire. War Hog charges Reinholdt, hits and kills, Massacre moves over to Old Witch, hits with attack for about ten damage, second attack misses, last attack hits and kills.

Summation: 4. Technically a 6, but the relative strengths of the two sides at the ends was quite bad.

Game 122 - Win - Carver vs Axis

Results: Three Losses
75 - 46 - 1

35 Point Into The Breach (Neutral Flag/Zone, aligned Objectives_

Carver - 2x War Hog, Road Hog, Brigands (Max), Slaughter Housers, Targ

Axis - 2x Inverter, Corollary, Mitigator, Reductors (Max), Reciprocators (Max), Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex

I lost the Die roll, given first turn.

Convergence deployment, ADO misplaced on the far left (Can arcnode if within 6 of a Vector).

Farrow turn 1: Standard Carver opening turn. Mobility, Batten and running happens.

Convergence turn 1: Everything runs up, Axis puts Iron Aggression on the left Inverter and places a damaging wall in front of some of the Brigands.

Farrow turn 2: Brigands move around, do CRA's, killing a Reductor and damaging one of the Reciprocators. Carver Battens and moves over, all Beasts run around.

Convergence turn 2: Inverters run in, Mitigator shoots and knocks down the right War Hog. Reductors and Reciprocators kill all but one of the Brigands.

This is where Axis needed to feat to stop Farrow pulling ahead on the Heavy trades.

Farrow turn 3: Right War Hog Forced to stand. Brigands stabs Reciprocator for nothing. Carver casts Mobility, Batten and Feats. Left War Hog moves over, casts Massacre twice on the Road Hog and other War Hog. Right War Hog charges the Left Inverter, but moves far enough to engage both to stop a Counter Charge. The Mitigator charges for nothing. War Hog forces/damages for Strength. Maxes Fury, killing the left Inverter and damaging the right Inverter for a fair amount. Road Hog charges a Reductor, Spray kills several Reductors and setting Reciprocators on fire. Slaughter Housers charge in, leave Reciprocators down to a pair.

Convergence turn 3: Axis moves in, feats, getting everything except the back Slaughter Houser. Inverter gets healed by the Mechanics, then kill the War Hog. Mitigator charges Carver, does little. Reductors kill most of the Slaughter Housers.

Farrow turn 4: Carver casts Battens, Mobility, moves around taking a free strike from the Mitigator on the way. Damages Mitigator for a little bit. War Hog moves up, kills the Reciprocators. Road Hog moves over, killing all but one of the remaining Reductor. Slaughter Houser misses last Reductor, so zone not Dominated.

Tactical Error: In stead of Batten, should have spent the Fury buying attacks to kill the Mitigator to remove the threat of assassination from the Mitigator Bulldozing.

Convergence turn 4: Axis moves over, casts spell to give Bulldoze to Battlegroup. Mitigator moves in, Pushes Carver forward. Inverter attempts to charge, falls an inch short.

Farrow turn 5: Carver casts Batten then puts Massacre on the War Hog. Moves and engages Inverter to stop a Counter Charge. War Hog charges Inverter, kills it. Slaughter Houser kills Reductor. Road Hog charges Objective, assault flame thrower sets Axis and Corrolary on fire. Melee attacks kill the Objective.

Convergence turn 5: Axis puts down a wall, gives Battlegroup Bulldoze, walks over to Flag. Mitigator pushes Carver through wall.

Alternate Convergence turn 5: The Axis assassination.
Axis is not in range of Carver, but might be in charge range of the War Hog. Requires Onslaught to be cast for two to get path finder, def 10 War Hog under Batten will be hit if not killed, one focus spent for extra attacks should be enough to get to Carver and make at least six attacks on Carver if not seven, though with no boosts. Def 13 armour 20 with one transfer and about a third health down, possible.

Mid-Farrow turn 6: Axis concedes before the War Hog charges Axis.

Inferior play was about to be done before Axis conceded. Batten shouldn't have been cast, instead Quagmire should have been put on the War Hog to put the Axis assassination from def 14 to 12, away from the painful 8's to hit.

Final thoughts: 9.

Games 119 to 21 - 50 Point Easter Tournament - Carver/Midas vs 3Goreshade, Borka, pKaya

Results: Three Losses
74- 46 - 1

Optional Two List Event. Objectives/Flags replaced by Easter Eggs.

Carver Tier 4 - 2x Warhog, 4x RaBo's, Rorsh & Brine, Brigands (Max), 2x Brigands (Min), Targ, Slaughterhousers

Midas Tier 4 - Boneswarm, 3x Rabo's, 2x Warhogs, Warhog (Destroyed), Road Hog, Targ, Slaughterhousers, Bone Grinders (Min)

Carver for Warmachine, Midas for Hordes. Need to practice Rorsh and Brine and low point levels to get the hang of them, and Midas would rather have more RaBo's than the Boneswarm.

Game 1

Cryx! Much laments! 3Goreshade or eDenny's NQ 52 theme, which is evil. Goreshade gets put down.

3Goreshade - Kraken, Darragh Wrathe, Withershadow Combine, Skarlock, Blackbanes Ghost Raiders (Max), Bane Riders

List Mismatch: Don't have anything that can really dal with Cryx. A whole unit being Incoporeal is a nightmare.

Farrow Deployment: I won the roll off, went first. Max Brigands advance deploy, photo is after the Battlegroup Advance Move.

Cryx deployment: The Big egg is a proxy for Goreshade, the bunnies are the cav.

Farrow turn 1: Everything moves up, Batten and Mobility go up as normal. Brigands Fearless/Tough, as they do.

Tactical Error: No need to use Mobility early on with the tier benefits.

Several pics missed. Incorporeal Pirates make Farrow sad. Quagmired Brigands are cancelled by the disbinding Combine.

Cryx final turn: Goreshade strips Fury off Carver via Siphon Bolt, Kraken moves in and melee's him to death.

Strategy Error: Blackbane needed to be killed early, and a War Hog sacrificed to hopefully pull the Kraken in early. Odds still not great.

Recount: 5

Game 2

Trollbloods, Borka and Calandra. Drunktroll goes in.

Borka - Pyre Troll, Slag, Krielstone Bearer + UA, Boomhowlers (Max), 2x Trollkin Hero, bunch of different units?

Dropped Midas, as it's Hordes.

Troll Deployment: I won the roll, elected second.

Farrow Deployment. Road Hog will advance move forward.

Trollblood turn 1: Everything moves up, hordes of Troll buffs go up.

Farrow turn 2: Everything moves up, Road Hog charges forward, sets fire to a string of Trolls.

Trollblood turn 2: Everything moves/charges up. Road Hog gets diced, one RaBo shot to death by Boomies. Boomes get Iron Fleshed.

Farrow turn 2: Gun Boars move up, damage objective. Midas curses Boomhowlers, Hex Blasts Iron Flesh off Boomhowlers, killing one. RaBo's charge in, kill a Boomhowler. War Hogs charge in, killing objective and several Boomies. Slaughterhousers charge in, remove a couple models, get knocked down by one of the Troll buffs. Targ uses Ancillary attack on a War Hog, misses.

Trollblood turn 3: Things charge in, one Gun Boar killed, RaBo's killed, War Hogs injured. Grinders cut down. Couple Slaughters killed. Buff horde goes up.

Farrow turn 3: Gun Boar fails to throw Boomhowler. Misad puts Calamity on the Krielstones, Massacre on the War Hog. Blocking Boomhowler refuses to die, Left Warhog sadly passed Frenzy roll and is filled on Fury to do little. Right Warhog kills blocking Boomhowler.

Planned to kill the Warden Stone this turn, but the blocking Boomhowler proved to hard to remove. Sometime the dice just don't help.

Trollblood turn 4: Gun Boar, Slaughter Housers, Grinders all killed.

Farrow turn 4: War Hog finally frenzies, misses with attack. Assassination time. Bone tokens get burnt to pump to nine Fury. Gun Boar turns around, kills Troll that would stop Midas. Midas charges Pyre troll, hits for small damage, buys attack and kills blocking Boomhowler. Calamity goes on Borka, feat brings back lots of Beasts. Road Hog and Gun Boar do little, Warhog goes in, Borka stumbling drunks away. Other Warhog goes in and swings at some infantry.

Tactical Error: Went on the assumption that this would be my final turn. In hindsight should have focused on removing support staff, the Keg carrier at a minimum, which would have stopped the Stumbling Drunk survival next turn.

Trollblood turn 5: Pyre troll fails to do much to Midas, Bone Swarm gets killed, as does a resurrected War Hog. Trolls get to 4 CP's.

Farrow turn 5: Gun Boar kills Borkas little keg buddy, Road Hog doesn't do much. Warhog goes in, first hit damages for a bit, activates Stumbling drunk to push him an inch away from the War Hog out of melee range. Sad face.

Recount:8

Game 3

pKaya or eMorvhana.

pKaya - Stalker, Ghetorix, Warpwolf, Posse (Max), Stones + UA, Stones, Gorax, Wolf Lord Morraig

Circle sets up first.

Farrow deploy. Road Hog uses Advance Move.

Circle turn 1: Circle moves up.

Farrow turn 1: Running running running.

Circle turn 2: Wolf Lord goes Lightning Reflexes put on him, charges up to kill a RaBo and move back. Gatormen spread out.

Farrow turn 2: RaBo's charge the Wolf Lord, dismount him. Road Hog and Gun Boars don't do enough to get rid of the Gatormen as hoped.

Circle turn 3: Gorax damages Ghetorix and Primals him. Ghetorix kills Road Hog with snacking activated to remove him from play. Much sad face. Ghetorix then gets summoned back to Kaya.
Gatormen charge and kill the left War Hog. RaBo's get killed.

Farrow turn 3: Midas attempts assassination, completely botch it.

Rule Error: Forgot that Midas Feated beasts couldn't be forced.
Strategic Error: Attrition should have been the play, focusing on killing the Heavies. Likely Calamity to go on the right Beast, then War Hoged.

Circle turn 4: Midas spelled by Kaya several times, then Stalker kills him.

Game Recount: 7.

Game 118 - Loss - Midas vs pThagrosh

Results: Loss
74- 43 - 1

35 Point Into The Breach (Zone, Flag, aligned Objectives)

Midas Tier 4 - Warhog, Roadhog, 4x RaBo's, Targ, Bone Grinders (Max), Slaughterhousers, Boneswarm, Dead Warhog
pThagrosh - Carnivean, Naga, Shredder, Ravagore, Warspears + UA, Succubus

Summary: I won the roll off, went first.

Farrow deploy. During Chappy's deployment I realised I had set up 10 inches in, so shuffled everything back 3 inches before doing anything.

Legion counter deploy. Blood Trackers put Prey on the War Hog.

Farrow turn 1: Everything moves up. Road Hog is further up due to the Midas Tier force giving a beast an Advance Move. Midas dropped his whole stack.

Strategic Error: My Midas play as a whole is flawed. I go in always planning the assassination, I should attempt attrition first. The Rabo's should have run  in front of Midas and the larger Hogs, with the Road Hog to the right, further away from the Ravagore and able to screen the War Hog in later turns.

Legion turn 1: Everything moves up, Spiny goes on Thags/Heavies, Tenacity goes on several Ogrun. Ravagore uses Animus, kills a RaBo and injuring two others. The Ogrun spread pretty far out to avoid the sprays.

Farrow turn 2: Midas moves up, uses Calamity on the Ogrun. Road Hog charges the Ogrun in front of him, Assault sets an Ogrun on fire, misses Thagrosh. Charge attack kills an Ogrun. Targ moves up, uses Ancillary on the Roadhog to spray, hits Thagrosh setting him on fire. RaBo's move around, two run all the way up to the enemy Objective. other stuff moves up.

Legion turn 2: Fire expires on Thagrosh, much sadness. Ogrun charge the Roadhog. Take off half the health. Ravagore kills a Bone Grinder, another will die to the fire put on it. Stuff otherwise advances up.

Farrow turn 3: Calamity upkept. To much Fury on table, Road Hog Frenzies and kills an Ogrun. RaBo frenzies and does nothing. Warhog gets Massacre from Grinders, charges and kills another Ogrun. Midas casts Battlelust on the Slaughterhousers, moves over casts Bad Blood on the Ravagore. Slaughterhousers charge and remove Ogrun UA, getting rid of Prey. Boneswarm moves up.

Legion turn 3: Naga kills RaBo, Ravagore misses Bone Grinders which scatter backwards. Ogrun kills Roadhog and tough a Slaughterhouser, Carnivean kills the Warhog. Shredder moves to block charge lane on Thagrosh.

Farrow turn 4: Screwed up Fury amount, Midas cuts for two. Slaughterhousers charge, leader moving over to keep people in command radius. One Slaughter dies from the Carnivean free striking, so only one of the Housers gets to the blocking Shredder. Grunt that got in hit Shredder, damaging it. Grinders bunch up, Arcane bolt Shredder, roll poor damage. Midas activates, Curses and Hexblasts Shredder to death, charges Thagrosh. Misses with Calamity. Does a small amount of damage. Feats back beasts in Thags rear arc. They fail to do much to him. Boneswarm animuses, charges toward Midas.

Play error: Straight up two turns of screwing up Fury amounts. Even expecting the Road Hog to die would have left me either short one or overloaded with 1, The Grinders should have Massacred the War Hog and had him charge for distance rather than running.

Tactical Error: When the Shredder failed to die to the Grinder bolt, the assassination wasn't going to fly that turn. Legion had way to much Fury on the table, Midas should have fallen back after recasting Bad Blood, probably on the Carnivean. Slaughter Housers would have died, but if enough Legion Beast frenzy then Midas can charge in next turn and feat for attrition or a better assassination run.

Alternate Plan: Shredder lives after Grinder Missile. Midas charges it, Curses Thagrosh, boosts to hit Shredder, will kill it handily with Dismember, activates Soulfood to Hex Blast Thagrosh then uses fury to cast Calamity, then feats to bring beasts back. No back strike bonus, but still worth it. Also possibly cast Massacre on a Hog to allow it to charge or cast Bad Blood on something.

Note: The Freestrike happened because I assumed the Carnivean had reach. Weirded out that I made an error assuming a Legion beast was better than it was....

Legion turn 4: Fire does a little damage to Thagrosh, who then kills Midas.

Summary: 6
