Games 105,6,7,8 - 3 Losses, 1 Win - Two List Tournarment

Results: 3 Losses, 1 Win
69 - 38 - 1

42 Points

My List One: Zerkova Tier 4 Hunting Wolves - Conquest, 2x Vanguards, 2x Eliminators, Kayazy Assassins (Max) + Underboss, Gorman,  Greylord Ternion

My List Two: eButcher - Beast 09, Wardog, Ogrun Bokur, eEoryss, Kell Bailoch, Great Bears, Kayazy Assassins (Min) + Underboss, Doomreavers + Escort, Drakhun, Yuri

Zerkova to drop against Cryx, not against Legion, otherwise opposing caster dependent.

Games! details add later

First game, Zerkova dropped. Opposing options where pDenny or Terminus, got the misdrop as Terminus came in....

Drop Error: Didn't even consider that he would drop Terminus, eButcher would have been the better drop after all. Concern was that Denny's feat and spells nerfed Butcher to hard.

Terminus - Scavenger (Light Jack), Bane Knights (Max), Tartarus, Wrongeye + Snapjaw, Bile Thralls, Blood Witches + Blood Hag

Deployments, I went first, standard deploy. Other pair of Eliminators out of shot on the far left.

Deployment error: Zerkova needed to be two inches to the left. Comes up for the feat turn.

Khador turn 1. Everything advances up, Watcher/Banishing Ward go up.

Cryx turn 1, everything runs up. The Blood Witch unit on the right goes Incorporeal.

Khador turn 2, all the Kayazy run in. Conquest does some shots, fails to do much at all. Zerkova moves up, uses Feat, gets almost everything except the Bile Thralls up the back. Casts Icy Grip on the unit on the right, you then get sprayed by the Ternions.

Tactical Error: FEAT DID NOT GET BILES. Zerkova had to move around the Objective, didn't have LOS to charge a model, jsut did not have the means to do it. Should have deployed or moved her further to the left in opening turns, Could also have put Focus on Vanguard, used it to Push her the extra inch needed.

Model Note: I didn't give Ternions enough of a chance when I tired them long ago, they are sweet as.

Cryx turn 2. THE TURN OF PAIN. Terminus gets moved by Madelyn to be outside Zerkovas feat range. The Bane Knights move out of the way, Terminus feats, a Bile Thrall moves and the Kayazy evaporate.

Khador turn 3. Some desperate flailing happens, the Ternions spray the Banes, most tough out. Gorman tries to Black Oil Snapjaw, it misses and SCATTERS ONTO THE CONQUEST. A desperate cloud is placed to block LOS to Zerkova. It won't be enough.

Cryx turn 3. Conquest reversed for convenience. Terminus, with fifteen odd souls, charges the Vanguard near Zerkova, buys attacks on her and falls one damage point short of one shotting her. Then she gets pasted. Horribly pasted.

Summary: 8 technically. Eugh. Defeated myself before turn one with wrong drop and unwary deployment.

Game 2

Opponent only had Siege for a list, dropped eButcher.

Siege - Defender, Gun Mages + UA + Marshalled Defender, Black 13th, eEiryss, Squire, Reinholdt

Zerkova would have had game, but I think eButcher has hope.

I went first, this is my opening turns movement with the enemy deploy.

Tactical Error: Eiryss placement rubbish, she did nothing.

Cygnar turn 1. The Black 13th with a lucky Magestorm and Eiyrss manage to pop Kell. Arcane Shield goes up on the Dorfs.

Khador turn 2, got 5 focus. Upkept Fury on Beast. Butcher casts Boundless Fury twice on the Bears, feats, charges forward. Bears charg Dorfs, kill four or so. Drakhun runs in, Yuri runs in. Doomreavers run up. Eiryss runs around.

Strategic Error: Should have held feat and threatened zone, waited a turn. I did like rushing a Doomreaver to kill the Gun Mage UA for Shenanigans.

Cygnar turn 2. Siege moves up and feats, turns out it causes enemy models to be Armour Pierced. Siege then drops foxhole, giving him line of sight through stuff, then he shoots Butcher dead.

Tacital Error: Ogrun should have Shield Guarded first big hit. Wouldn't have changed much, but would have at least been something.

Summary: 6.

Game 3

Against the Haids, he has eCaine and pHaley. His lists use a lot of the same models and are very similar to the one that utterly  demolished Carver. I drop Zerkova, as both lists will have trouble with damaging a Colossal (Pointed out by Haids). He goes with pHaley.

pHaley - Stormclad, Squire, Disco ball (Storm Strider), Gun Mages + UA, Black 13th, Tempest Blazers (Ponies), Anastasia

Khador Deploy, I one the die roll and went first. My standard Zerkova deploy.

Khador turn 1. Usual opening turn, Watcher/Banishing Ward go up, Jacks all run up, Zerkova hides behind the Conquest.

Tactical Error: Waste of Kayazy. Right Eliminators should have been on the left instead, Discoball is to much for them.

Cygnar turn 1 missed the pic. Gunmages snipe it up, take out a bunch of the front Kayazy. Jack gets Arcane Shield and runs up. Ponies run up. Gorman places a cloud to shield Haley.

Khador turn 2. Conquest gets focus, moves up, kills some Gun mages, a pony and Gorman di Sea Wulfe. Surviving Eliminator on the right runs up to the Discoball. Kayazy moves up and make grrr noises. Left Vanguard got one focus, charged a Pony to hold it up from scooting around and shooting Zerkova. Left Eliminators charge, one into a Pony, the other into Anastasia. Both miss horribly. Ternions cloud Kayazy to try to protect at least some of them.

Cygnar turn 2 missed Pic. Haley feats, many shots, much pain. Left Eliminators die off, Anastasia moves up but doesn't get in Espionage range. Watchered Vanguard kills her. Some Assassins die. Conquest got shot a lot, took little damage. Stormclad charges Conquest, doesn't do much.

Khador turn 3. Zerkova moves up, feats. Kayazy run up to be annoying. Conquest takes Stormclad down to one box on the left arm. Charging Ternion sadly doesn't finish it off.

Cygnar turn 3. Zerkovas feat utterly brutal, msot units can only moves. One Gun mage out of feat range kills the remaining right Eliminator. Ponies do little, one runs into the back of the Conquest. Haley uses Temporal Barrier.

Khador turn 4. Zerkova walks back, kills Pony engaging Conquest back. Vanguard with focus finishes off stormclad. Conquest sacs move to aim, shoots Cannon at Haley, puts her down to two health. Ternions move up, one dies to put a cloud on Zerkova, other two spray haley. She cancels one of them with a focus, other one hits and kills her.

Summary: 9.

Game 4:

pSorcha or UButcher. I went with eButcher, Zerkova hasn't got the punching power in case of Butcher (Learning from round 1!Woo!)

uButcher - Black Ivan, 2x BD IFP + UA's,  Saxon, Kell, eEiyrss, Alexia2, IFP Kovnik

Khador turn 1. Again I go first, everything runs up.

The wrong Khador move everything up. IFP are all BD and use mini feats.

Wrong Khador turn 2, no pics of my turn which was just move up and jam Kayazy in.

IFP are all BD and use mini feats. Black Ivan kills some Kayazy to feed Alexia, who pops three Risen that charge Great Bears/09, they take out 09's right arm. Much sadness.

Khador turn 3. eButcher gets three focus, drops Fury, puts Ravager on himself, charges forward, Feats. Massacres lots of stuff. Had to spend a Fury to get the enemy objective stopping a Homicidal move. Other stuff moves up, few more kills. Pic is after feat turn allocations (I ran out of tokens). Kayazy mini-feat, fail to even hit Alexia.

Rules/Tactical Error: Misread eButcher feat, rage tokens can't be used on him and can only move a model once. Wasted an awesome horde of tokens.

Biggest Tactical Error: Got so consumed with Butcher's attacks I forgot to use Yuri to try to kill uButcher. Charge + 3 Rage attacks might have done okay. Alas.

Feat doesn't do as much as I hope. Few more models get chopped.

uButcher charges in, uses Impending doom to get eButcher, cuts him down.

Summary: 7.

Overall numbers to high from the scoring system. Don't think I played very well, round two was particularly bad as it bored the opponent, which is the last thing any Warmachine player should do.

Zerkova - Got the basic opening down to a routine. In games tend to spend the stack too casually, need to put slightly higher priority on pumping up Jacks or camping.

eButcher - Still waaaaay inept with.

42 pts - Not a fan at this point. Feels like a slow 35pt game to me, the converse of the idea. More play might change this, but I don't think it'll be a popular point limit here.

Deathclock - Eugh. Made a focus to increase speed of play is irrelevant in Deathclock, especially with an hour on the clock for 42pt matches.

Game 104 - Win - Sturm and Drang vs pMakeda

Results: Win
68 - 35 - 1

25 Point Charsaug League. Region: Pick a unit, gains boost dependent on League choices (Brigands got Fearless and tough, Nihilators got +2 Strength and Armour). Close Quarters Scenario.

Sturm and Drang - 2x Warhogs, RaBo, Targ, Brigands, Bone Grinders.
pMakeda - Bronzeback, Gladiator, Nihilators, Pain Givers, Orin Midwinter

Game:

Missed Pick of deployment, Skorne went first and moved up.

Thornfall turn 1, move up. Watcher is up, Vision on lead Warhog.

Skorne turn 2. Filled with crazy shenanigans. Makeda feats (Replace dead grunts in units), Bronzeback gets Rush and a speed boost, charges and busts up some Brigands although a  few tough, it advances up via its beatback animus. Gets to Sturm, hits once which gets transferred, misses with a second attack. Maxed Fury on the Bronze. Nihilators charge up, hit a Brigand who toughs and gets Vision off the rightmost Warhog. Orin moves up, uses Null magic, just getting Sturm and Drang.

Thornfall turn 2. Bone Grinders run out of the way. Sturm moves around threat range of Bronzeback to get away from Orin's Null field. TK's Bronzeback, turning it around and getting it away. Brigands jam up and get out of the way, one dies to a free strike from the Bronze and one toughs a freestrike from a Nihilator.

Warhogs move in, kill Bronzeback with some effort. Self-Harming for strength on the Hog that had eaten the Tranfer stupidly got rid of it's Mind aspect, so it missed most of its attack. Targ wandered up and healed for a little.

Tactical Error: Should not have boosted for Strength on the damaged Warhog, or at least boosted to hit with attacks in stead of relying on 4's on one dice and multiple attacks.
Ignoring Makeda feat was right move. Brigands eminently expendable.

Skorne turn 3. Makeda had to cut herself for fury this turn, as she had space for four and the Bronzeback had filled itself up to five. Nihilators move around, Watcher is triggered multipe times to move Warhog up but not to make attacks. Warhogs damaged but survived. Brigands off the table.

Watcher moves were to stop Nihilator charges, the loss of the damage dice seemed to keep the Warhog going.

Thornfall turn 3. Drang activates, dropping Watcher. Bone Grinders miss Nihilator. Targ uses Medicate to heal Right Warhog for a few points. Right Warhog tramples, killing a bunch of Nihilators, toughing a few more, survives Free Strikes and kills Orin with a bought boosted attack and damage Cleaver. Other Warhog kills/toughs some Nihilators, Goads forward, Crit headbutts Gladiator to knock it down.
Drang Feats, charges Nihilator, uses Obliteration to remove some of the toughed ones.  RaBo kills a Nihilator.

Drang MAT boost on Tramples was good. One of the few times Drang will be better than Sturm. I did regret it multiple times in the turn though, halfway through activations thinking of putting up Watcher or using TK for something.

Skorne Turn 4: Missed Pic. Feat effects of Drang made Makeda cut for Fury again. Gladiator turns around after forcing to stand, kills right Warhog. Path not cleared for Makeda to get to Drang.

Thornfall turn 4. Sturm tags in. RaBo frenzied and killed a Skorne model. Sturm TK's Nihilator to move it away and turn it around, sacs move to aim and uses Spray to kill most of the remaining Skorne infantry. TK's Gladiator to turn it around. Warhog kills the Gladiator.

Skorne turn 5. Pic missing. Makeda killed the Warhog after last few models still couldn't clear a path.

Thornfall turn 5. Drang chosen. Targ kills the Paingiver blocking Drang's chargelane, who toughs. Bone Grinders move in and stab the toughed model, getting it of fthe table. Drang charges Makeda, boosts initial attack and kills her (Half health lost to cutting).

Aftermath: 8. Sturm and Drang feat on Hordes seems nice, doesn't look like it would do much to Jacks. Sturm is going to be wanted for 90% of the game, key seems to be spotting the rare turn you want Drang up.

Game 103 - Loss - Carver vs Kara Sloan

Results: Loss
67 - 35 - 1

50 Point Charsaug League. Incursion Scenario (Three flags, one disappears).

Carver - 3x Warhogs, 3x Brigands (Max), Slaughterhousers, Targ, Bone Grinders
Kara Sloan - Stormwall, Squire, Junior Warcaster, Black 13th, Gun Mages, eEiryss, Aiyana and Holt, Tarryn, Tempest Blazers

List Error: Wasn't meant to have Bone Grinders. Would not have affected the outcome considering my mistakes in play, but still something I should not be doing anymore.

Game:

I went first, ADing a horde of dudes was kinda cool.

Cygnar deployment.

Thornfall turn 1. Everything moves up, all Brigands use Fearless/Tough prayer.

Cygnar turn 1. Storm Pod placed in centre, about half a dozen assorted Brigands die to long range shots. Stormclad puts down Covering Fire templates. Black 13th put down a firestorm template, scatted to under the building on the left.

Right flag disappears.

Thornfall turn 2. Everything moves up, Brigands take a few CRA's. Do little.

Strategy Error: Adopted wrong game plan from here. The half a dozen long distance casualties should have been a forewarning of the Bacon tenderizing about to happen.

Flaws plan: With the right flag gone, Carver would dart to the left to Dominate the far flag, the Brigands would tie up the middle and the Warhogs would sit back as a threat to stop the Colossal moving up.

The probably workable alternate: Brigands use Fearless and Tough, advance forward and dig in, just waiting to tie the 13th/Gun Mages in melee. Carver and Warhogs go straight up the middle, sacrificing at least one Warhog to get the heavies to the Colossal. Once Eiryss tied up, use Quagmire on a Brigand unit to tie up the cavalry. Slaughterhousers to run to the right, either to take out the cav or be the next wave on the Colossal. Bone Grinders to block Carver as meat shield.

Cygnar turn 2 Hordes of Brigands get massacred. Tough, like the goggles, does nothing. Warhog gets harmed and dies to Stormclad/Kara shots.

This turns casualties were to great to recover from without a severe opponent error to expose their Warcaster. Wasn't going to happen here.

Thornfall turn 3. Brigands, what are left, jam where they can. Bone Grinders move into terrain to annoy the flag. Warhog eventually kills two of the 13th.

Cygnar turn 3. Kara feats, her and Stormclad kill second Warhog.

Thornfall turn 4. Carver clears left flag of Eirys and last 13th, Warhog kills some Gun mages.

Cygnar turn 4. Warhog and Carver shot to death. Sad face,

End Notes:7. The idea was there, I just didn't get to it.

Game 102 - Win - Zerkova vs eSkarre

Results: Win
67 - 34 - 1

50 Point Charsaug League. Region: One unit gets Fearless, Tough, immunities.Incursion Scenario (Three flags, one disappears).

Zerkova - Conquest, 2x Vanguards, Ternion, Gorman, 2x Eliminators, Assassins (Max) + UA, Widowmakers, Marksman (Kell subbing in)
eSkarre - Kraken, Deathripper, Bane Knights, Mechanithralls + WA Brute, Withershadow Combine, Skarlock, 2x Pistol Wraith, Bloat Thrall, Necrosurgeon + Stitch thralls

List error: I played two points down, meant to have a Marauder instead of a Vanguard. Given Vanguard Awesomeness I'm ok with this.

Game:

Out of frame: Kayazy Eliminators on the left.

I went first. Kayazy where the special region unit for me, for Cryx it was the Mechanithralls. Banishing Ward went on the Kayazy, Watcher went up on Zerkova. Kell is a sub for the Widowmaker Marksman.

Rule error on my part: Used a Ternion cloud on Zerkova, that would have killed him as a result of the Orgoth seal. Thankfully after this I used Gormans cloud, so it didn't impact the game.

Re-correction: Ternions CAN cloud Zerkova, Orgoth seal only stops Magic attacks. Doh.

Cryx opening turn, runs happen! Note the Pistol wraith on the far right.

Khador turn 2. All spells upkept Zerkova moves up a bit, casts Icy Grip on the Mechanithralls, Feats. Feat hit everything except for Skarre and Bane Knights in the back and the flanking Pistol Wraiths.Widowmakers killed the Bloat Thrall (Just), resulting explosion got a Bane Knight. Left Eliminators ran up to Kraken to stall it. Right Eliminators ran straight up the flank. Conquest advanced, little blasts got some thralls, Big gun got a line on Scarre, hit but didn't do a great deal of damage. Kayazy charged the thralls, killing a bunch.Gorman clouds Zerkova, Ternions cloud Vanguards.

Cryx turn 2. Kraken kills Eliminators, resultant Quick Work shots fail to do much (1 point to Gorman). Mechanithralls have difficulty hitting the Kayazy. Bane knights charge/run through the building to get tot he rightmost Eliminators, fail to hit. Right Pistol Wraith hits Conquest and messes it up (Sac Movement or action next turn). Left Pistol Wraith shoots up some of the Kayazy.

Tactical mistake: Vanguard should have Shield Guarded one of those shots to stop the Conquest being Frozen.

Khador turn 3. Kayazy mini-feat, three get to Skarre! Two miss, third does little damage. Sad face. remaining Kayazy kill one of the Shadow Combine (Which would have stripped them of Banishing Ward). Eliminators ignore the Bane Knights, run up towards Skarre (EXTREME FLANK). Conquest sacs movement, fires some shots to kill the Brute thrall and some Mechanithralls. Gorman clouds. Ternions spray, causes Mechitralls to Tough.

Tactical error: Didn't activate the Widowmakers by the look of it.

Cryx turn 3. Mechanithralls respawn! Skarre feats, making herself not able to be targeted and stopping Zerkova and a Vanguard from acting (Feat apparently errated to not work on Collosals thankfully). Pistol Wraith shoots Zerkova, misses. Kraken charges! Zerkova hit for lots! (5 hit boxes left) Other Melee attacks miss. Bane knights kill Widowmaker. Deathgriiper (Obscured by Conquest) is engaged and useless. Two more Kayazy die to Mechanithralls hitting in the back. Another Kayazy is pseudo-Seduced to wonder into no where (See far left rear of photo).

Khador turn 4. Zerkova cowers, drops Icy Grip but keeps other upkeeps. Some of the Banes die to the Widowmakers. Gorman Blinds the Kraken. Conquest does a bunch of shots, kills Mechanithralls. Eliminators kill Necrosurgeon. Kayazy kill the remaining members of the Combine.

Tactial error: Put two focus on the Conquest. DIDN'T USE THEM. Also didn't sac movement for aiming bonus.

Mid Cryx turn. Watcher! Bane charges Zerkova, Watcher triggers and the Vanguard moves in and kills him.

Cryx turn 4. Banes kill another Widowmaker. Pistol Wraith hits Zerkova with a shot, but it gets Shield guarded. Kraken turns and kills Gorman.

Mechanithralls reduced to two, stitch thralls. Zerkova cowers behind Conquest, Widowmakers kills last Bane Knights and Pistol Wraith. Eliminators run up. I get a CP.

Rules error: This turn I used Icy Grip on the Kraken. Re-reading the card, it only works on warrior models. Vanguard Placement would have stopped the Kraken getting to the Conquest in any case though, and Zerkova would have been safe. I don't think it would have changed the outcome, but still a lame rules error to make.

Cryx turn 5.Eliminator dies to Kraken, comrade fails her command check.

Khador turn 6. Last two assassins and Underboss charges Skarre. Underboss gets the kill.

Summation: 6.5. Having a Cryx player describe Zerkovas Tier list as "It's like versing Cryx!" makes Khador happy.
